Palin, Walker and a Missed Opportunity
shibumi's brain | 6/6/2012 | shibumi

Posted on 06/06/2012 6:37:20 PM PDT by shibumi

I personally like Sarah Palin quite a bit. Obviously she's an attractive woman. That never hurts for a start. Added to that, there is depth of character, exemplified by her choosing life for her most recent child and her successful marriage. These are qualities that drive the rabble on the left wild. Someone out there actually walks the walk that they talk.

That said, I find myself frustrated over that cat and mouse game she has played with her non-candidacy on the heels of her abdication of the Alaskan Governorship.

I suppose this came to mind today in the light of Scott walker showing just how a Governor can do the right thing in an extremely hostile environment and survive the challenges that ensue. (Did I just say "survive?" Heck, Walker just curb stomped his opposition in masterful fashion.)

Sarah Palin has been attacked from the left for a supposed lack of historical acumen and intellectual depth. While giving a pass to amorphous figures running on a Liberal agenda the consensus seems to be that anyone aspiring to office from the Right must have a blend of Jeffersonian practicality along with Platonic sophistication and the historical perspective of Gibbon and Voltaire.

Palin, her handlers and her faithful have all danced around trying to rationalize and/or disprove her intellectual credentials, not realizing that the lack thereof is not a liability. It is, in fact what makes her likeable and trustworthy.

The presentation does not even have to be Reaganesque. It can be as simple as this:

"I'm not an economic expert, but I'll put people in the Cabinet who understand Capitalism, the negative impact of taxes and the dynamics of a free market.

I'm not a soldier. But I'll give the Generals a long leash and a simple mission. And playing politics won't be part of their job description.

I love my family. You're free to love who you will and have whatever happiness you can eke out in this life. But you'll not mock and trash the Christian traditions of this nation while doing it.

You are welcome to emigrate here. Go wait in line or sign up for the military. Serve in the nation's defense and earn your citizenship.

Drill, Baby, Drill!

I sure as heck don't know it all. But I'll find good people."

Simple statements like these could have been readily understood by the voters and grasped by her less-than-Phi-Beta-Kappa mind. She would not have to worry about flubbing in public because she could say these things in her own inimitably folksy sort of way.

But instead, we have the faithful trying to make out that her judgement, strategy and acumen are above reproach. They've ruined a perfectly good candidate with over adulation.

The current usurpatious resident of the White House should be ample proof that great sophistication is no prerequisite for a successful candidacy. And the Walker Win in Wisconsin shows that making the hard choices and sticking by them is a winning strategy.

Timber is right! The writer has no clue what he/she is talking about. Sarah was sued personally and had to pay out of her own pocket.....you can’t compare this to Scott Walker case. Trying to divide and bankrupt a family is quite different than trying to kick someone out of office where it’s in the hands of the voters and not in the hands of enemies paying people to file frivolous lawsuits after lawsuits against someone personally because they know she doesn’t have the money to pay after so many hits. So it’s silly to critiqued what you are ignorant about

Agreed. I think Sarah Palin is great, I’d vote for her tomorrow, but I’m not one who puts people on pedastals. Humans are humans.

I appreciate the time you took to read and thoughtfully respond. It’s good to see that a reasonable discussion can be had.

Excellent points, Ron, well said and more food for thought.

“You PDS’ers are full of crap! And the reason we’re in the mess we are now is mostly YOUR fault. I’m pretty much sick of you and your ilk. So shut up and go away.”

Thank you for proving my point. Sarah Palin never entered the Primary. If she did, she would have won hands down and she would have done so with my vote. No questions asked.

But that never happened. For whatever reason, Sarah Palin felt now was not the time. That’s fine. She has do what’s right fer her and her family. There’s nothing wrong with that. But I refuse to sit around and mourn something that did not happen. It’s an utter waste of time.

We are a country on the edge of complete economic, political, and social disaster. If we don’t get that homosexual agenda pushing Marxist pig out of the White House, America is finished. It is that simple.

Do I like Romney ? Nope. He leaves a lot to be desired in my book. There’s plenty to criticize him for. I won’t defend him, I’ll leave that up to the Fox Neocon Channel (FNC). I’m voting against that Kenyan Usurper.

What part of Shibumi's thought provoking editorial bothers you?
Or were you just taking a drive-by wild shot?

The fascists went after Walker trying to vote him out - the fascists went after Sarah trying to personally bankrupt her out. That is a big difference

It takes a lot more than that.

Agreed. What those commie pigs did to Sarah Palin was, dare I say, a blood libel. I am in complete agreement with you, no question.

-—BUT-—

I’m fairly certain Scott Walker has more leftist venom heading his way. As we both know, the Left doesn’t do “forgive and forget”.

Read it twice and still son’t have clue WTH you were trying to say.

Were you comparing Walker’s govenorship with Palin’s? If so not even close.

How many times has he been sued by rabble using the state constitution to do like too Palin? Is he going bankrupt from legal bills he has to pay for out of pocket for doing his job as govenor?

"Were you comparing Walker’s govenorship with Palin’s?"

No. Not at all.

The point was (and is) that a simple presentation of herself as a candidate who did not pretend to be a savior, but rather one who was smart enough to state the issues simply in her folksy and endearing way would be a winner.

Lines seven through twelve (in quotes) is a proposed platform.

I am not and was not suggesting that their situations were identical, merely that the mood of the electorate for gutsy Conservatives is right - right now.

“We don’t do collectivethink.”

I’ve just realized something-—that sentence, which was intended to denounce collectivethink-— is actually, well-——collectivethink.

LOL!

Yep, another concern troll who never bothered to find out how much Palin actually does know about a whole lot of topics.

More Alinskyite B.S.

Heck, that’s what our side is supposed to be good at.
