U.S. Rep. Allen West unveiled his first TV ad Saturday at the official South Florida kickoff of his re-election campaign in Palm Beach Gardens.
With qualifying behind him, Wests team planned a busy day to start its official campaign charge.
Beginning his day with about 350 members of the Martin County Republican Executive Committee, West enjoyed BBQ and a warm welcome before traveling south to Palm Beach Gardens.
The congressman arrived at the Borland Center to a crowd of about 400 that had been revved up by the unveiling of his soon-to-be-released ad, which included the catchphrase, Im just getting started, following, some say that I push too hard, that I ask too much.

We could use a few more like him.
Shouldn’t it be “I am Trayvon”?
No, it shouldn't.
Go West!
I’ve liked this guy for a long time. I still hope that he’s the GOP candidate coming out of the convention this summer!
We need a patriotic conservative statesman; not a polytheist RINO!!!
I love this part Free market without bankruptcy is like religion without hell, West said. Go Colonel!
That is a great line!
I don’t believe him. He doesn’t look Thracian. Let’s see him order a cup of Turkish coffee in Thracian.
AND DON'T DRINK THE GOP'S KOOLAIDE EITHER. romney may be the lesser of 2 evils, but he is still an evil socialist.
I hope he ends up dropping out of this race because of another job offer.
AS OUR PRESIDENT SAYS,
‘YOU DON’T BRING SKITTLES TO A DUN FIGHT!’
I wholeheartedly agree! He could really energize the conservative base!
Ditto!
I would love to see Marco Rubio become Romney’s running mate just to open up a Senate seat for West to fill.
****I love the “I am Spartacus” part. ****
In case anyone is interested, the movie SPARTACUS is more Dalton Trumbo than Howard Fast.
When Fast wrote the novel there was no Tony Curtis character and no “I am Spartacus” as the real Spartacus was killed in the last big battle.
I read the book.
I guess I can never be racist since I have to admit that I’m not half he man that Col. Allen West is.
I attended the event and it was a great speech. He really ignites a crowd. Even my kids got excited over it. We need more role models like him in Washington.
