Poll gives Obama edge in Pennsylvania (many undecided)

The latest poll in Pennsylvania gives President Barack Obama a six point lead over his Republican challenger Mitt Romney, though voters in the Keystone State say Romney would do a better job fixing the nation's troubled economy.

The poll from Quinnipiac University indicated Obama leading Romney 46%-40%. The president's lead was bolstered by strong advantages over Romney among women and independents – 51% of women back Obama, compared to 36% who support Romney. Forty-three percent of independents say they would vote for Obama, compared to 35% who would go for Romney.

Voters were more confident in how a President Romney would handle the economy. Forty-nine percent say the former Massachusetts governor and two-time presidential candidate would better handle the economy, compared to 41% who named Obama. Forty-five percent said Romney would create more jobs as president, while 43% said Obama would be stronger on job creation.

The undecided vote is large in this case, more than it is nationwide.

He has a substantial margin when you include the Graveyard Vote! That's a "vital" portion of the Rat constituency in Pennsylvania, don't you know?

Telephone poll of "registered voters". Polls of "likely voters" are really the only ones that matter.

Obama is probably down by 6 points or more, in reality. I smell a landslide.

Romney won’t win PA. Too many blacks and dead people there. He has a better chance at NJ.

“Forty-nine percent say the former Massachusetts governor and two-time presidential candidate would better handle the economy,....”

However zero is more ‘likeable’ so that trumps ability to handle the economy. /sarc

“51% of women back Obama, compared to 36% who support Romney”

Now we know why they were reluctant to give women the right to vote!!!

The poll participants say that Romney would be better at handling the economy and better at creating jobs but are still going to vote Obama??? Either this poll is flawed or there are some real stupid people in Pennsylvania.

46% for an incumbent is disasterous.

If registerd voters and by phone, it’s not that good for Obama. But what does Rasmussen say?

Women are choosing Obama not because of his politics but because of his image as someone they could share a joint with and party hardy. He is their unattainable one night hook-up!!!

I'm sure Pitt and Philly have their die hard Obama-ites, but out here in the suburbs and countryside, there is NO love lost on him. A lot of regrets from those who bought into the shtick.

Hopefully the new Voter ID law here in PA will cut down on fraud.

OK so let’s see here. Everyone everywhere agrees the number 1 issue is the economy and jobs creation. Romney leads Obama in BOTH of these categories in this poll and yet these same people claim they would rather see Obama as president then Romney.

Does not compute.

I just drove about 350mi on I-40 yesterday and billboards are up reminding folks of our voter ID law here in Tennessee. If you need one just call this number and such.

The totally incompetent Obama still polls ahead in Pennsylvania largely because the many medium-sized cities and towns there (Erie is a good example) have only one newspaper and the stridently liberal Democratic publication proselytizes to the locals on a daily basis.

The syndicated columnists appearing therein are overwhelmingly leftist and Democratic seminar writers (usually a local union chief, a college professor or a Unitarian minister) fill the Letters to the Editor section.

The majority of the readership considers itself informed because they “seen it in the paper”.

There is no way, unfortunately, that Romney can win Pennsylvania; Obama will have to lose it.
