In Case You Don't Like Romney... A Challenge To Every FReeper

In Case You Don't Like Romney...

Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election …

“If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind:

1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78

2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year

3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August

4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.

Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.

If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky….”

So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:

'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'

Did that get your attention!

And the point of my post was to advise you that you are going to be presented with the same type of situation 4, 8, 12, and 16 years from now. As long as you let the GOPE manipulate your vote, it will.

Have you ever noticed how these ABO people are a lot like the gambling addict who keeps going back to the casino because he's just sure that his luck has to change? He never, ever figures out that the reason he doesn't statistically win is because the games are rigged against him from the onset.

Only a fool continues to play and lose at a rigged game. Time to change the game, even if it tips over the GOP-E's apple cart.

Do you really see Romney making our borders completely open as Obama is? Yes. They already are and Romney won't change that. He backpedaled yesterday.

Do you see Romney favoring illegal Mexican border crossers over US workers Yes, part of the problem is business community seeking cheap labor

Do you think Romney would have forced the military to welcome gays I posted his interview from December in which he promoted gays in the military

Do you think Romney would have favored the unions over investors in the Chrysler bankruptcy? His cronies are just different cronies

Do you think Romney would have tried to stop Boeing from opening a non-union plant in South Carolina? His cronies are just different cronies

Do you think Romney would have given 500 million, JUST LAST WEEK to a former ACORN officer? His cronies are just different cronies

Solindra? His cronies are just different cronies

Van Jones? His cronies are just different cronies

Sotameyer? His judicial appointees were pro-abortion liberals

Black reparations? No, but his romney-bots are just different people

Jihadists in the WH? No

Bill Ayres anywhere? His cronies are just different cronies

Corpse-men? He's not spent one second in uniform

Michelle... no, I'll be kind.... Ann has many cadillacs

Reducing the military to the status where they will not be able to defend us? That depends on whether he ends the Afghan operation

Abandoning Israel? No, I understand he and Bibi are personal friends

Abandoning the freedom forces in Iran? Yes, it will not be front burner

Supporting the Arab Spring (Radical Islamic Revolution?) Depends on his SecDef and SecState

Supporting OWS? His cronies are different cronies

Given the history of success of any third party winning the WH, I will say that with 99% certainty. So yeah, a different outcome is possible, just highly unlikely.

I despise the GOP even more than I do the Dems. They present themselves as the good buys but are complicit in destroying the nation and I don’t expect miracles from Romney. To me, his only worth is in removing Obama. Even if the policies are the same, Obama must not be rewarded with a 2nd term.

You have a different viewpoint than I do but that is limited to the best way to achieve the same goal. I am not the enemy. I opposed Romney every step of the way. If you have an alternative, please tell me. Who is it that you think could beat the 2 presumed nominees? Not who you would like to see win and not who you think would be a good president. Please tell who can win in a 3 way race and make your case with 100% certainty. Thank you.

There doesn’t appear to be much talk about pushing Romney to the right anymore either.

Funny, that.

Or, to put it in secular terms, if you lie down with dogs, you're gonna get fleas.

Every four years the GOP Establishment stands there grinning from ear-to-ear, like a greasy Bugsy Siegel, and throws their latest liberal candidate in our faces.

Yash, I can only disagree with this point. I will say they are not conservative or christian for the obvious reasons that one cannot do something contrary to the very core of conservatism and christianity respectively, and still logically claim to be those things.

I don't know if I'd go that far. Even Lot was a genuine believer, though we only know this because God had to specifically *tell* us that was the case in II Peter...

We weren’t there to see Lot and his actions. We ARE here to see the ABO voters and their empowerment of anti-christian policies like abortion, gay marriage ect. I don’t see voting for a man who openly supports that any differently than a man that would spit on a Bible. In the spiritual sense there’s no difference. Each is an outright denial of God’s teachings. So what else can one call one who does that? I do not see how ‘christian’ applies.

Reader's Digest Version

One of the two will win. If Romney wins, he'll most likely be a one-termer, because five minutes after he's sworn in, Chuck Schumer (who is next year's master of ceremonies for the inauguration) will run to the cameras and declare "It's Mitt Romney's economy now!"

Obama and the Democrats have laid enough land mines in the economy for everything to explode in the next 12 to 18 months. The Republicans will be blamed for it. Bohener and McConnell will probably still be in the leadership, but they'll be severely disinclined to go against the head of their party. Things will be very, very, bad for the Republicans. In 2016, the message the Democrats will spout will be "See? We TOLD you!"

If Obama wins, he'll be a lame duck, with hopefully a Tea Party-energized Republican House and Senate (with more in 2014). They'll work hard to stop him at every turn, LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING THESE LAST TWO YEARS. The GOP will have a much better chance in 2016.

Please tell me who your candidate is.

Your words are the words that I have used for 40 years so they are not new to me. However, I truly believe that this is our only shot at buying time to get another chance for a good candidate unless you have some miracle candidate who can win and reverse the course we are on.

I truly want to know. I am not trying to be antagonistic.

Obama will make my beliefs illegal.

Then we are on the edge of a Revolution. Will you stand for that?

Obama has no more power that WE THE PEOPLE allow him to have.

Why should they? It’s just one more belief that can be tossed away. They have conclusively established that belief only matters at certain times and under certain circumstances. So really, what’s one more? When you toss core principles out the door, there’s not a lot left to stop one from just applying situational ethics to any situation so rationalizing this one away should be a piece of cake.

The Declaration of Independence preempts the US Constitution.

God given rights preempt any attempt to catalogue them by a written declaration.

I haven't decided who l will vote for yet, but it will be for a true conservative.

What I don't understand, why so many ABOs are so quick to jump on Romney's bandwagon. It seems to me, if a person were truly ABO, the wouldn't be for Romney yet, but would make up there mind in late October.

Posters saying they are ABO, are really not, since the A stands for anybody, but they only support Romney

Frankly I thing a lot of conservatives and FReepers need to take a long hard look at themselves and ask if they’re really comfortable with who they’ve become.

I see them saying things like they want the Holder investigation or the Fort Hood shooting trial to last long enough to become campaign issues. Justice be damned, they want to win at any cost.

The cost is just too high for me.

They have become what they used to hate.

In the last several months I have seen support for gay marriage and euthanasia, border fence advocates told they want dead Mexican kids, Men called perverts, Palin called everything under the sun including one very specific ‘implication’ she was a prostitute and a bunch more.

Funny, that’s just what they say on DU.

You justifiably knock people for calling Sarah Palin names.
But here's an earlier comment from you (and I'm sure there are many worse:
People like Pelosi are why many people are so put off by religion. And likewise people like the abo types are no different.

Running around saying “I’m a conservative!” and then going out to vote for a documented liberal REGARDLESS OF THE REASON makes people thing “hypocrite”.

And why shouldn’t they? You can’t be ‘a little pregnant’. This isn’t some minor little thing. This is central to our whole philosophy. The concept of voting for a man with Romney’s record is a conservative thing to do is absurd. But there’s a parade of ‘conservatives’ doing that very thing. So what other core belief will be compromised next?

I’m so tired of this crap. So few people left have any integrity. And they just make excuse after excuse.

Sarah Palin is a strong ABO’er and will be voting for Romney. So according to your own words, Sarah Palin is:

‘No different’ from Nancy Pelosi.
A ‘hypocrite’.
‘Absurd’.
‘Has no core beliefs or integrity’.
‘Makes excuse after excuse’.

And it sounds like you would be voting for Sarah Palin if she was the candidate. Boy, imagine what that makes you! ...every other R candidate is supporting Romney also. So who was your candidate, genius?
