The myth is finished. The Constitutional order was shredded long ago by a Congress that does not care about upholding it; an executive branch interested only in growing federal power; and a Supreme Court that sees itself as a super-Congress, unanswerable to the Constitution.
But today, in one of the most egregious acts of judicial revisionism in American history, Chief Justice John Roberts and the Supreme Court pulled back the curtain for the American people. Nobody will protect the Constitution but the citizens of the United States.
It’s a sobering realization. For too long, Americans have trusted their politicians implicitly to do the “legal” thing – after all, a huge percentage of Congresspeople are lawyers. Americans figured that their representatives would find a way to balance the Constitution and their own desire for re-election. And Congresspeople found a way to abdicate responsibility: they passed whatever bills they felt like passing, whatever bills forwarded their political ambition, and then tossed them to the Executive Branch. If there was a violation of the Constitution, they implicitly said, that’s not our problem – blame the president and the Supreme Court. It’s no wonder that the former chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), justified Obamacare under the non-existent “good and welfare clause”; it’s no wonder that Nancy Pelosi asked if a reporter was “kidding” when he asked her about the Constitutional authority for Obamacare. These people simply do not give a damn about the Constitution. They care only about their political power.

Personally I believe Americans will continue to make sacrifices of all that is good and just. Folks are not nearly as happy as they once were but they are not ready to defend themselves or their country. It will be too late when there is no other choice left.

Ben Shapiro makes a good case that today’s decision proves once and for all that politicians and even the Supreme Court cannot save us if we ignore reality and keep nominating and voting for people who then ignore the constitution and lie while they pander to an endless line of ‘special interest’ groups, from gays to ‘women’ to unions and on and on. I believe the August GOP convention in Tampa may bring some surprising results, including a repudiation of Mitt Romney, the ‘establishment’ candidate that originated the basis for Obamacare. Of course, I could be wrong and we’ll just plod along as usual, right up until our freedoms, economic and social, are gone.

The size and scope of the federal government needs to be drastically slashed. Powers wrestled from the states should be taken back.
The SCOTUS has set a coarse for a larger federal government, higher taxation, more regulation and more personal scrutiny. The scope of this has yet to be realized.
One thing is for certain, we continue our national march toward a socialistic society. Uncle Sugar will take our liberties and replace it with their liberty on every aspect of our lives.
Beware, the health police are right around the corner. How much alcohol do you consume? Fat,sodium intake, Do you smoke? Cigars or cigarettes? Work out? Own firearms? List your hobbies and have risk assessments done.
All of these and much more will be regulated and or you will face penalties for behavior or lifestyles deemed unhealthy or unsafe.

Ahem, Arizona can’t use civil law niceties to catch illegales, and Uncle Sugar refused to permit Arizona to funnel illegales to ICE.
But the black letter of the Constitution still has it that Arizona can wage WAR on an invasion. Let Arizona set up a row of trebuchets facing south at the border. Any illegale caught sneaking over said border, gets, ahem, repatriated.
In the meantime why not tax every American (except maybe conscientious objectors) who doesn’t own a war-grade firearm?
