Now It's Up To You

The myth is finished. The Constitutional order was shredded long ago by a Congress that does not care about upholding it; an executive branch interested only in growing federal power; and a Supreme Court that sees itself as a super-Congress, unanswerable to the Constitution.

But today, in one of the most egregious acts of judicial revisionism in American history, Chief Justice John Roberts and the Supreme Court pulled back the curtain for the American people. Nobody will protect the Constitution but the citizens of the United States.

It’s a sobering realization. For too long, Americans have trusted their politicians implicitly to do the “legal” thing – after all, a huge percentage of Congresspeople are lawyers. Americans figured that their representatives would find a way to balance the Constitution and their own desire for re-election. And Congresspeople found a way to abdicate responsibility: they passed whatever bills they felt like passing, whatever bills forwarded their political ambition, and then tossed them to the Executive Branch. If there was a violation of the Constitution, they implicitly said, that’s not our problem – blame the president and the Supreme Court. It’s no wonder that the former chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), justified Obamacare under the non-existent “good and welfare clause”; it’s no wonder that Nancy Pelosi asked if a reporter was “kidding” when he asked her about the Constitutional authority for Obamacare. These people simply do not give a damn about the Constitution. They care only about their political power.

Abortion took place in many states prior to this. Seems that such tyranny would logically have been taking place in these states. Roe only moved it into D.C.

I like Ben a lot more when he is going for the throat rather than trying to be clever.

Go for the throat, go for the heart but first go for the testicles.

“the ultimate authority, wherever the derivative may be found, resides in the people alone.” Government cannot grow unchecked without their consent; the Constitution cannot be violated without their consent.

Yes and no. Ultimately, the people do need to take a stand. The problem is that, at this point, it is beyond a Election 2012 issue. The beauty in our Constitution was (yes, I guess that would be the correct tense of the verb) that it limited government. CJ Roberts was correct when he states in the decision: "the Federal Government is a government of limited and enumerated powers.” The problem is that he forgets that even a democratically elected government is limited. The ideas of a split legislature and electoral college were put in place by the founders so as to prevent the tyranny of the majority. That is why CJ Roberts was so wrong when he concludes: “It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.” But, it was his job to uphold the Constitution even if it meant not bowing to a popularly elected Congress or President. Instead of upholding the Constitution he deferred to Congress and said it was up to the will of the people. But, the Constitution was there to limit the reach of the government even when it was acting on the will of the people. Whether Election 2012 changes the political choices and will of the people does not matter, the Constitution and its limitation on government, even popularly elected government, is dead.

"Pretty soon the country will not be able to continue feeding our overlords. What do you think will happen then?"

The "overlords," foreclosed against and no government incomes, will riot. Then they'll stay in their new homes: the slums. Oh, what will we do without so many regulations and overseers? ;-) [Little irony and humor in that last sentence.]

Roberts attacked the Constitution with extreme MALICE in order to appease his liberal friends. So much for Federalism. We now have a marxcist dictatorship and I wonder what this says about the November elections. Will there be a martial law moment to prevent the election from going ahead???

It should be interesting to see how many elites show up on the battlefield. I bet none. We’ll need to hunt through swamps, turn over rocks and rip out boards to find these cockroaches.

Did these morons actually think that fat welfare mommas, lazy SEIU pigs and black pamper cowards would sacrifice themselves so they could live high off the hog?
