Has anyone ever heard of a massacre at a gun club?

Rush: 'Blaming Guns For Murder Is Like Blaming Forks For Obesity'

[caption id="attachment_56418" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="God and guns are the government's number one and two enemies making the individual irrelevant source of picture: freerepublic.com"][/caption]

Imagine if the Aurora gunman knew that people were carrying weapons in the theater like at a gun club. That would have put a lot of ice water on his passion to commit homicides en masse This author can't recall a single story where there was a massacre like in Colorado at a gun club. He can't even recall any kind of killing by a deranged gunman at any gun club.

We wonder why. Could it be that at a gun club everyone is packing a gun and that if a nut like the Colorado shooter started to pick people off  he would be dead in a quarter of a second. It's not the guns that create mass murders. It's the psychos. Psychopaths and generally severely deranged nuts like to kill defenseless people, but they are not so crazy as to try it at a gun club. Any person with visions of mass killing are clear on one thing. They want to do the killing and do not want to be killed. They are never as deranged as to try mass killing at a place where they know they won't have much of a chance to succeed or make it out alive.

There is a lesson here for the opportunistic Democrats who are now calling for a special session in Congress for greater gun control. Making people more and more defenseless is what got them killed at the theater to begin with. Honestly, Democrats are death centered people. Getting people killed seems to be what they are good at. They keep making the same case to make people more and more defenseless regardless of the costs to human life as in this discussion on ABC news. They never ever talk about enabling people to defend themselves but always about sacrificing them for the greater good.

Do you remember "Fast and Furious"? The conventional wisdom was that this was a scheme to flood the drug cartels with free guns so as to make a case for greater gun control. The massacre in the movie theater is another liberal opportunity to further gun control which accomplishes the opposite of what is promised namely the safety of the individual. The policy in the movie theater was that guns were not allowed under penalty of felony. The theater demanded that people walk into the theater completely defenseless and it did nothing to make sure adequate security was there. What juicy lawsuits this will make. Imagine, if a handful of people had been allowed to carry their firearms. What a different outcome we might have had when Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head by a nut like the one in Colorado if people actually had carried guns. What a difference that would have made. Do you remember the Fort Hood massacre where a Muslim extremist did the same as the nut in Aurora? He too knew that everyone on this military base was not allowed to have guns. These nuts are not that crazy. They pick venues where they know people are defenseless to practice their slaughter. The point of mentioning Fast and Furious, the Aurora massacre, Gabrielle Giffords, and Fort Hood is that they all have the same thing in common. People are expected to make themselves defenseless in these venues by the government and when they are sacrificed they are used as props to make people even more defenseless with more gun control.

Now Democrats want greater gun control the very same policy that got these people killed. If all the guns were made illegal, crime would go up not down as was seen in Australia and England when guns were outlawed. Incidentally, Hugo Chavez just outlawed gun ownership in Venezuela and the country has become a total war zone where people are being slaughtered daily. The bad guys keep getting the guns in order to prey on the defenseless which the government has made them so.

For some reason, Democrats are more concerned with feel-good policies at the expense of the individual. Look at the gun control laws in Chicago another Democrat bastion. This month more than twice the number of people were killed in Chicago than were in Aurora and not a peep from the mainstream press. Why is that do you suppose? The city is a militarized zone and nothing is done whatsoever to empower the individual to defend himself. Why Democrats are so quick to sacrifice the individual to slaughter is mind boggling at times.  Perhaps, it is because liberals, aka democrats, aka socialists, aka Marxists are always enthusiastic to sacrifice the individual for the good of the collective using the main stream media as its willing accomplice . The individual is irrelevant to the liberal. In fact gun control has nothing to do with crime control and everything to do with keeping politicians safe at the expense of the rest of us and furthering their collective agenda.

There is a very distinctive pattern here. Gun control advocates never think about making people safer. They always focus on making people more defenseless and in the process getting more and more people killed.

President Obama went on a rampage early on his administration to release the inmates at the marine base of Guantanamo Bay. Just recently one of those released master minded the killing of 30 Jews on a bus in Bulgaria. As a matter of fact, many of those released from Guantanamo Bay have gone right back to their terrorist ways. You have got to love this following story. Only 16% of released Guantanamo detainees go back to terrorism. The liberal agenda is taking comfort in the idea that only 16% are killing and maiming others. Oh! Well! As long as it is for the greater good maybe it is worth it.

Obama's release of the inmate who went on to kill the Jews and gun control have one thing in common. They emanate from liberal policies that have no regard for the ordinary citizen. The liberal policy is one of death and dying. These policies are designed with a willingness to get people killed as long as the liberal agenda is furthered. It all boils down to sacrificing the individual to the collective aka the greater good. This is very obvious.

Ironically, those Democrats in power believe their entourage should be armed to the teeth so they can be adequately protected but the rest of us out here are expected to take a bullet for the greater good. What rot!

I practice at gun clubs regularly. When I am there, I feel safer than anywhere else I go because everyone has a gun and would not think twice about killing a psychopath like in Aurora. Makes sense.

Non many, for sure...not ANY, likely. However, one would think that the same would be true for most any military base, yet if you drive on virtually all of them, you will see a sign that says “NO WEAPONS ALLOWED” or similar.

Here is another tidbit of information. I am here in Texas and attend gun shows where there are no acts of violence but plenty of acts of kindness. Why don't crackpot go to gun shows and attempt mass murder. No they go to “gun free” zones where law abiding citizen will leave their weapons in the car or at home so they will be defenseless against people like the Colorado shooter. Most if not all conceal carry permit holder obey the law. Gun law help the criminal vermin not the citizens.

Great point. I agree. People at gun shows and clubs are some of the nicest most likely because they feel safe.

Just working up a post for another board elsewhere about jail and prison death rates.

The poster's challenge was that murder rates in prison must be much lower than on the outside because nobody has a gun or other weapon.

Turns out the US murder rate is about 4.5 people per 100,000 per year. The murder rate in jail is upwards of 47.0 people per 100,000 per year!

Where nobody has a weapon and where they are intensely guarded and restricted the murder rate is OVER TEN TIMES what it is under conditions of freedom where 270,000,000 people wander about with firearms, and 320,000,000 have easy access to sharp objects, knives, frirbrands, poison, high cliffs and buildings (to push people off of) and so on.

Jail is not as safe as real life.

I’ve seen missacres and messacres at gun clubs, but no massacres.

I go to shows out in Valley Forge, PA. All types of people there from all walks of life but they have one thing in common - pleasant and proper behavior. It gets packed in there and folks are more polite than Sunday morning parishioners exiting the 9am mass.

About 10 years ago I heard of an idiot who attempted a robbery at a gun club in California. It was not successful.

In a lifetime of shooting it is the only case I can remember.

Thanks for the information; I believe it.

It may be because they throw sheep in with wolves, and the fact that the rest of the prison population not directly involved are, to some extent, complicit in advance knowledge of the ‘plan’ but do nothing about it.

In other words, 100,000 people in jail, are nothing like the average 100,000 of the normal population. That’s why they are in prison in the first place.

That does puzzle me. We spend billions training soldiers and marines to become experts with firearms. We train them to be disciplined and hone their skills especially in stressful circumstances or in a crisis situation. Then we don't trust them to have guns on a military base amongst their fellow expertly trained brethren. Really?

In Israel (as I understand it), active duty soldiers (which every citizen is required to be at some point) are required to keep their firearm with them at all times. They have to seek special permisson to be anywhere with out it regardless of whether they are "on duty" or not. (Again, as I understand it).

I would hazard a guess that the prison/jail murder/homicide rates are high enough to make it look like recidivism rates can be reduced with tender loving care and teach-ins.

I almost was. Once on a firing range a woman a few steps away had a fit of some type while shooting a 44 cal. Magnum revolver. Her eyes were rolled back as she waived the gun around jerking her arms spasmodically. She soon fell on the ground causing the revolver to go off pointed up toward the side, but she never let it go, and never stopped waiving it around. Everyone was stunned motionless by the suddenness of it all, but then someone managed to pin her down and take the gun away. I didn't know her, but I always thought that the loud noise and recoil of that big handgun probably jarred something loose in her head.

http://www.watoday.com.au/world/im-the-antichrist-shooting-range-murdersuicide-20090409-a15t.html

There have been a small number of murder-suicides, where the shooter knew the single victim, but nothing beyond that to my knowledge. A gun club is a really stupid place to try for a body count, and psychopaths know that. They’re only insane when they are hamming it up for potential jurors; otherwise, they know that what they are doing is wrong and illegal.

I believe here in Georgia an inmate has been granted a stay of execution (I think for a prison murder) because of some legal question not having to do with the real problem, proponents say. Proponents are saying he’s ‘intellectually challenged’ with an IQ of about 70 and can’t be executed.

So the question is, if you’re an inmate already in prison for murder (not executable), and you got life, what is the deterrent from doing it again? Jail? If you could do it without being called ‘premeditated’, ‘race-based’, etc.?

Mark my words. Gaffer said it here, this day.

One day, the US military in all its administration-driven fielty and homage to political correctness, will require combat zone soldiers to account for, and document each and every round they fire - in today’s equivalent of “in triplicate.”

Say what?!? No weapons in prisons? That's the same mentality as those who claim poor widdle Trayvon was unarmed. All he needed was his fists and the ground to nearly kill Zimmerman. Kiddo here took a box of confiscated makeshift prison weapons to school for a show and tell (yes, the principal was all for it). If you have nothing to do 24/7 then you have to make your own entertainment such as rubbing a plastic spoon or toothbrush on the floor until it wears down to a nice sharp point to stab someone with. Texas prisons don't serve bone-in pork chops anymore because one inmate stabbed another one to death with the bone.

Well GilGil, I think you have just given Hollywood its next movie idea. Massacre at RiverSide Gun club, starring Woody Harrelson as Bobby the maniac gun slinger who losing the election for Gun Club President goes berserk at the Club's fish fry.
