Should someone be fired from their job and threatened with violence, torture, even death because they have an opinion different than yours? Of course not. And yet, that is what Adam M. Smith of Arizona says happened to him.

Adam Smith’s life has been turned upside-down in the 36 hours that followed his posting the video of his protest at Chick-fil-A, which involved letting a young, female employee at the drive-thru know what he thinks about the company.

I can’t believe that a corporate executive would think that this type of public behavior wouldn’t backfire on him or his company. I suppose it’s just another indicator (like the video wasn’t enough) of how arrogant and self-centered this guy truly is.

I believe him that some crank probably called or emailed him to threaten him. But I doubt it really bothered him. 99.999999999% of these types of threats aren’t carried out. I find it hard to find any sympathy for this self-centered bully.

This guy was fired because he took out his frustration on a young employee instead of dealing with the Chick-Fil-A corporate management in a proper fashion. He was rude, obviously trying to elicit a response from the woman that he could get here in trouble on, and should know better for the level position he held. Would he want public person doing this to one of his employees?

All that plus he deserves a Darwin award for making a video of himself doing it and then posting on youtube. I didn't think anyone over twelve years old could be so stupid. As a fellow accounting/finance professional I am insulted.

Well, more accurately, fired for posting it on YouTube in a manner that made it easy to find the originator and the company he worked for. Had he never posted that video, he'd still be berating others with his opinion AND enjoying his cushy job.

This guy is incredibly immature for the CFO of a company. I can’t imagine someone in his position who is unaware that actions on his part the reflect poorly on his employer might have serious repercussions.
