"Unexpected Swallowing of a Knife" -- that's a grabbier title than most ones you see in medical journals.
The short item, a clinical image in this week's New England Journal of Medicine, explains that a 30-year-old woman with a history of bulimia had been bragging to friends that she no longer had a gag reflex. She put the knife into her mouth and then laughed -- at which point she swallowed the knife.

Afternoon! It looks like I was so zonked this morning that I forgot the kitteh. Oh, well ... that will give me more choices for tomorrow.
I’ll pray for the little girl again some more. My friend Evelyn has won a trip to Disney World for her family from a local radio station. They have seven children, including two with serious handicaps. The daughter who is Sally’s age is so excited she may have a conniption before October arrives.
You Betcha, Face
Prayers up!
Thank you! I have been at the point of tears so many times today because of this sweet little girl that all I could think of was to ask for prayers...
I appreciate you! And if you don’t mind, please spread the word to the people you know. One can never get enough prayers.

Thanks! You rock!
I used to watch the original Mickey Mouse Club on TV when everything was B&W. I was a kid when Disneyland was first constructed, and the talent of the people who were on the first MMC was astronomical.
Sadly, I have never been to Disneyland, even though I lived in LA for three years. I think the Rodney King Riots must have had something to do with that.
For children who are handicapped in any way, recently or from birth, Disneyland gives them something else to think about. I’m all for it!
Russ and I used to watch the original Mickey Mouse Club in reruns on some station; this would have been in the mid-1970s. I remember a serial about searching for pirate treasure that went on for so long I don’t think I ever saw the end. I could probably find it on Youtube, if a searched using the theme music!
We went to Disneyland once or twice around ‘73 or ‘74. I think my aunt went with us; she lived in Long Beach at the time, and later moved to Costa Mesa. Sea World was closer, and the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. We went to those often, also the San Diego Padres games.
I think Anoreth went to Disneyland with Mom and Aunt Ruth in 1998 - Mom took her to see Aunt Ruth after Elen was born. Elen has been to Disney World in Florida: she was in her Princess Phase when it was her turn for the Big Trip with the grandparents. The other kids have gone to Sea World or Universal Studios or both.
Mom is very cautious about visits with Dad’s condition so unpredictable, but maybe after he moves to the Assisted Living branch, DP or I can take Pat and James for a visit to one of the parks and a setaround with Grandad.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come humbly before You to ask that You touch BonGon’s great-granddaughter with Your healing hand. Lord, we are Your creations. You know everything about us because You made us in Your image. Only You can make Your precious creations whole and perfect.
You told us that if we believe in Your Son and keep Your commands that we may ask anything according to Your will and know that we will have it. Father, we believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is Your son, that You sent Him to shed His precious blood for our sins, and that He defeated death to rise again. We claim Him as our Lord and Savior and know that we will receive everlasting life through Him.
Father, we ask that You would heal this child. Restore her to perfection as only You can. Grant her caregivers wisdom. Open opportunities that only You can. We ask you these things in the name of Your precious son, our savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
OK, Buckeye...that did it. I don’t think I have enough tissues to mop up after myself. Your prayer is so beautiful. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Spin and Marty, White Shadow...all B&W with kid actors...where are they now and who recalls their names? The only one I remember from the kid series is Kevin Corcoran, AKA “Moochie.”
Prayers
The star of “White Shadow” played Thomas Jefferson in the movie of “1776!”.
Prayers up and continuing.
According to Wikepedia, the actor is currently president of the Screen Actors' Guild, and a search for recent pictures shows that he's gotten fat.
Thomas Jefferson was a DOG????
Whodathunkit?
I think we’ve just run into one of those generational gap things. Care to fling a cupcake across?
You’re sweet. There was no generosity on my part. Every word came from the Holy Spirit. I am a pathetic sinner who does not deserve the grace our Lord grants me.
Thanks, SG.
All prayers are good, so pass on the word. This little girl has been suffering.
Ditto. I am so unworthy, which is why I ask my FRiends.<3
