Rep. Steve King: I’ve never ‘heard of’ statutory rape victims becoming pregnant
Yahoo News ^ | 8-21-2012

Rep Steve King (R-Iowa) jumped into the "legitimate rape" fray Tuesday by telling a local reporter that he doesn't personally know of any victims of statutory rape or incest who became pregnant from the attacks.

The reporter asked King about a bill he put forward last year that would have barred federal Medicaid funds from going towards abortions except when the life of the mother is in danger or in the case of "forcible rape." (The current law just makes an exception for "rape," without the forcible part.) The new terminology would most likely prevent people who become pregnant from incest or statutory rape--when an adult has sex with someone under the age of consent--from accessing Medicaid-funded abortions. King told the reporter he didn't know of anyone who had become pregnant under those circumstances.

"Well I just haven't heard of that being a circumstance that's been brought to me in any personal way, and I'd be open to discussion about that subject matter," he said. (Talking Points Memo points to a 1996 Guttmacher Institute study that found that half of all pregnancies among minors were fathered by adult men.)

Why would the GOP be the “party of rape” when Akin specifically called for harsh punishment against rapists in the very interview that’s causing all the huff?

Josef Fritzl was from Austria.

Does that mean he spoke Austrian? Doesn't matter, I'm sure he didn't worry that women's bodies "shut down" when he raped his daughter.

“Wasn’t there that dad in germany that kept his daughter hidden for years and fathered his own grandchildren.”

Josef Fritzl was from Austria.

No German could be an evil man.

How does a lawmaker not know what “statutory” rape is? It can be as simple as a 21 year old man having sex with a 16 year old girl and if the state says consense is 18 it’s statutory. Same with an older woman and younger man.

And I’m sure plenty of girls have gotten pregnant this way.

Good God....unless you're a licensed physician you have *no* credibility on the subject. So STFU!!!!!That means *you*,Mr Adkin. That means *you*,Mr King!!! STFU!!!!!!

Yet Pelosi, Reid and Obama have credibility to force religious institutions to pay for other people's contraceptives? Or to take over the country's health care system in general? Why don't we stop eating our own over minor issues and focus on the major problems caused by the immoral opposition.

I could picture this:

Rep. King: "You know, harsh new forcible rape legislation is a discussion I would LOVE to have."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2921290/posts this is not at all a minor issue. His biggest fan seems to be his opponent, the village idiot otherwise known as Senator Claire McCaskill. He’s got to at least dump her!

Stress signal causes abnormal implantation location and pregnancy loss

People often make exceptions for pregnancy in the case of rape and incest. Incest isn’t a form of rape? It isn’t “legitimate rape”? Why distinguish?

It’s like when Liberals denounce parental notification laws saying “what if the girl got pregnant by her dad, then he’d know!”. If PP kills the baby without notifying the authorities and prosecuting the father of the baby, they have covered up a case of sexual abuse.

But lets stick with rash judgments that sound good.

People often make exceptions for killing in the case of self defense. Self defense isn't a form of killing?

Is "Thou shalt not kill" up for interpretation or is it not?

There is consensual incest between two adults as well as between two minors. There is statutory rape between consenting adults and minors (which is rape) and forced incest (which is also forced sex which is also rape).

The “incest” the left dredges up is forced sex (as in, Planned Parenthood can’t be forced to notify the parents of pregnant teens because they may have been the ones who raped her). Such rape needs to be exposed and prosecuted, not covered up by Planned Parenthood (they’ve been caught on tape numerous times coaching girls to lie to them so that the abortions can be performed without bringing police in for prosecution of statutory or other rape). Planned Parenthood is PRO-rape. It’s good for business and they do not like cops sniffing around.

Akin’s comments have gotten much more media exposure than the tapes of Planned Parenthood shielding rapists from exposure. Why is that?

I been watching the spin on this both sides and it looks like yet another case (100+) of Republicans taking on a ‘conservative’ position to please a segment of voters then not having any idea how to defend it to general voters. The polls show most voters sympathize with rape victims and Republicans are now stuck dancing around this issue making fools of themselves because they never thought out how to explain the issue to general voters, Akin taking the lead.

This is like illegals bringing their kids over and their kids immediately become victims of the system. Republicans have no idea how to debate that issue either.

when trying to play the 'shades of gray' game, one finds themselves being in the mushy middle more often than not...

if these peckerwoods had any real moral convictions, and simply stood on that, theyd at least be taken seriously as being somewhat honest/trustworthy...

the progressive commies have no problem standing their ground on every failed issue, not the least of which is their "pro-DEATH" policy for anything besides animals and serial killers...

rule of law doesnt allow for shades of gray, neither in our Republic, or in Gods court...

Obviously Obama and Dems lie like hell too (easy to point out) but they appear united behind Obama in allowing him to play the polls. They hated Obama-care, they hated (some of the ) the tax cut extensions, but he keeps them on his team.

Obama is uniting Democrats for the fight.

Romney cant do that with Republicans because....remember the ABBO cry: “At least with Romney we have A chance, we have no chance with Obama’. You think Dems say that about Obama or Pelosi? No-one trusts Romney or Boehner.

Ryan was supposed to do that, unite the party.

I should have said we have no chance of avoiding a civil war if Obama is elected, and I stand firm on this conviction.Obama would either deliberately start it, or would become such a dictator, that he caused it to happen. I wonder how many American “patriots” “conservatives” would fight to the death for their country. We may find out, and if so, it will be UGLY.

Yes there is a double standard. So? Why is there a double standard?

As I said on another thread:

Why do we bother to ask such a reflexively stupid question?

Why wouldn't there be a double standard?

If the right is morally superior to the left, then of course the left will be held to a lower standard.

If the left maintained the same standards of self-reproach, they wouldn't condone or support so many of the reprehensible tenets that they do.

It's self-evident that the whore has more fun than the ole biddy churchlady. If the whore cleaned up her act and went to church then she wouldn't be a whore anymore.

The answer is the media is biased. Expose the double standard of the PARTISAN PRESS.

Apologies and evidence matter not to them. They have the aptitude of snarky junior high students.

The only winning move is not to get caught up in their snares.
