Mitt Romney has fewer votes than John McCain received in 2008! Republicans stayed home!

As of right now, Romney has close to 56,000,000 votes nationwide. In 2008, John McCain had nearly 60,000,000 votes. (Per Wikipedia)

It looks like if all the people who voted for McCain turned out again and voted for Romney, we would have been rid of the Kenyan once and for all.

People stayed home.

It looks like all the Freepers who said they'd never vote for Mitt were not making idle threats

It is that simple, but we haven’t done that, the further left the Dems move the further left the GOPe moves. Its disgusting.

I left the GOP, I’m sick of dating my rapist (which is how they treat conservatives). I’m not saying I will NEVER vote for another Republican, but they have to do much better and that won’t happen until people stand up and oust the idiots in charge of the GOP.

FWIW, I live in a solid red state and I DID vote for a Conservative who is pro-life and pro-marriage, and on my ballot, Virgil Goode. It didn’t affect my state’s outcome any but I will sleep better knowing that I stood on my principles which is the only thing I have left.

Standing and applauding...someone needs to pick that up as a tag line to keep it visible to all...

Same here. :)

Vote for Cruz too, so I know what it’s like to vote for a winner this election.

I think it's open borders.

If it's true that the white birth rate is going down, while minority birth rates are going up, it's the open borders that's where the growth in votes is coming from.

It's probably not as much a shift from producers to takers, but an uncontrolled influx of new takers.

And the numbers of imported leftist voters seems destined to increase more every year.

The solution, according to the "experts" on Fox News? The GOP should pander to Hispanics, i. e., amnesty. That worked out really well for McCain.

I don’t know the solution to get both the 3rd party conservatives to join in with the GOP except nominating a conservative.

- - - -
It it time for the GOP to go the way of the Whigs. Not a 3rd party, but a NEW party.

I knew my guy didn’t have a chance, it didn’t matter in my state anyway I don’t live in a swing state or even close. I bow before Christ, not any man or political party and it is HIM that I have to answer to and as a Christian I could not vote for either Mitt or Obama or anyone else who supports unBiblical policies like abortion and gay marriage.

"On the other hand, minorities and white Leftists continue to grow steadily."

The lefts goal has always been to create a dependent underclass....they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams....

What put them over the top was a aggregation of African American, Hispanics, many being 1st or 2nd generation immigrants, single mothers/women and the non-married young. They now believe it is acceptable to take the wealth from others and distributed it among themselves.

Unfortunately the ideals of individualism, freedom and sacrifice are over....it now is about how to take advantage of others for one's own gain....and they now have the critical mass to accomplish such through the ballot box....This might work for a while....but when the cup runs dry...all hell is gonna brake loose...

IMHO....the nation we once knew is over...

It looks like the freepers that said that Romney would hurt turnout, were correct. This took millions of disgruntled conservatives, not a handful of freepers.
***That, and a combination of 47%ers, single women, hispanics, energized blacks & liberals add up to a new electorate.

The question about Free Republic will be, are we a conservative site, or a republican site? If FR endorsed a “lying, baby-killing, gun-grabbing statist” (JR’s words), then WTF?

BS. Every single FReeper helped, FRiend.

The final outcome was predicted ... but ignored; and how those
who accurately predicted it ... truly, truly wish we were wrong.

Step back.

Democrats won nearly everything in statewide races where Obama won that state.

Here is Pennsylvania, we split the vote very often, voting for the Democrat at the top, but Republicans lower down.

This cycle, every statewide race, AG, Auditor, Treasurer, etc were all won by Democrats with almost the exact same vote totals as Obama.

There is a fishy smell.

Rigid, totally inflexible rule: Nominate an actual conservative (social, fiscal, military and foreign policy) or pay the price.

Now that His LameDuckness has been re-elected by GOP-E rank elitist stupidity and stubbornness in thinking Muffy's Trust Fund is the only political issue and by the awesome vote-stealing skills of the Demonrats, the conservative movement will reunite in opposition to Obozo. Romney and his sorry ilk will be ignored again as they should be. What will conservatives and the GOP rank and file DO with the opportunity to regroup?

Will it still be beneath the GOP's dignity to try and peel off black and Latino Democrats who oppose abortion and fudge-packing or to abandon the persistent and willful alienation of Latinos? Is the GOP willing to be a LOT more aggressive in attacking the Demonrat agenda? To investigate the urban vote fraud machines and motor voter and the habitual "loss" of votes cast and habitual "discovery" of uncounted Demonrat votes? Can the GOP develop issue discipline and message discipline? Can Republicans get the message that the future of freedom depends on taking politics at LEAST as seriously as our enemies (not our "opponents" but our ENEMIES in BOTH parties).

Those of us who, out of principle, REFUSED to vote for trash like Romney were reviled by many here as Obama supporters. Well, we can all now get back to the vital task of rebuilding the GOP as a genuine and disciplined and effective political movement and convert unconvinced Americans on issues and principles---one voter at a time, the old-fashioned way. That method elected Reagan and it will elect our future but presently unknown conservatives.

One last thing: BUYING the GOP nomination with corrupt Wall Street $$$ should be as despised a tactic as child molesting and recognized and punished by GOP voters as such.

While I did vote absentee ballot this year, I've never trusted that my vote would be received and counted. How do you really know?

Never vote by mail. The USPS is unionized. Board of Election office workers are unionized. Always keep your vote in you possession until it's cast.

“They hate rich white religious guys”

I think this should be modified to...who aren’t Catholic or Protestant...as this group doesn’t believe in the Constitution or religious freedom.

They will put up another RINO in 2016.

It will be a new and revitalized candidate in 2016, but deep down still the same ol' Jebbie.
