ABC ^

Posted on 11/08/2012 2:46:03 PM PST by ConservativeMan55

As ABC News reports, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has confirmed that the House GOP will no longer attempt to repeal Obamacare. When asked about the future of the health care reform law, Boehner said “the election changes that” and “Obamacare is the law of the land.”

I wish I could imagine a situation where Obamacare is repealed, but I can't. We can't even agree to reform SSI, which is headed for oblivion.

The whole shabang will come down first.

There is no ‘law of the land,’ Boehner, the people voted for a banana republic instead. Take your insurance, take your ‘tax’ and take your FedMob ‘laws’ and stuff them.

It’s financially untenable and the consequences are going to be unacceptable. It would be cheaper and easier and better for America’s health to give free health care plans to the welfare set.

And now we have a thread full of idiots calling for Boehner's head.

Boehner lives in reality.

Look: OBAMA WON. The Dems made GAINS in the Senate. No thanks to Akin & Mourdock.

The House already repealed ObamaCare in 2011; it accomplished nothing. There is no opportunity to repeal until 2017 at which point it should be "fully implemented" and the American People will see it for what it is.

That said, it's even with Republicans swept in to power for 2017, entitlements DO NOT GO AWAY.

It’s not going to be defunded because John Boehner is speaker. I said from the very beginning that any conservative running for congress should be a required campaign promise to “Repeal John Boehner as Speaker” (it would have been worth at least 3% in the polls)

John Boehner needed to go long ago. It’s too late. Damage is done.

Remove him now and we can talk about defunding ObamaCare. Until then, ObamaCare is indeed the Law of the Land. Mr. Speaker said so.

Now, he can defund it. And then defund whatever else - DOE, DHHS, EPA, etc. And not a thing Obama nor the Senate can do about it. Any regulation put forth, he can strike their budgetary amount just like that. Will he? Nope - we got the wrong guy as a Speaker.

I can't believe it took 42 posts for someone not to overlook the obvious. If you don't mind, let me shout this, like a poster earlier on the thread:

There. I feel better.

Thank you.

Cordially,

Need someone like Ron Paul

Since the Speaker of the House doesn't have to be a member of the House, this would be a perfect use of Dr. Paul, and a good way to repair bridges with the Paulies. And Speaker Paul would control the agenda. You know it would be very different from Boner's agenda.

We already know that Boehner had struck a deal with Obama including raising taxes.

Stop feeding yourself lies. It was never a discussion of rate changes. The "deal" Boehner offered was always about eliminating loopholes, broadening the base.

What happened to wanting everyone to have skin in the game?

The cognitive dissonance on display here is mind boggling.

I agree 100%. But the American people will never know the truth. The unacceptable consequences will somehow be blamed on republicans and not the real problem "ObamaCare".

"We" (The American people) are destroying ourselves

Oh, they’re going to have the truth forced upon them when they can only book three weeks in advance with a third world doctor.

If boehner is annointed again... we should let the gop know that we will march on DC. I will go and I would imagine Beck would organize it.

“You call this fighting?”

You must have missed the first two years of Obama’s administration. He controlled both the Senate and the House.

Boehner lead the charge against Obama Care and he also helped defeat Cap and Trade. He was in the minority for two years in the House. Obama passed Obama Care with his socialist majority.

The House voted twice to repeal Obama Care. Filthy Harry Reid would never bring it the floor. It wouldn’t have mattered with the Socialist controlled Senate.

I have issues with Boehner. But, let’s not rewrite history.

It isn’t an entitlement, though. It’s an albatross. It would be cheaper just to give the welfare set free health care plans.

Yep, and I need to find out how I can invest in off-shore medical care. So many doctors are going to retire or quit that we may see the creation of a medical industry that is outside US jurisdiction.

“Was Boehner crying?”

No, but, I feel like crying for my country.

Maybe a good cry is called for at this time.

Pray for the USA

I don’t know why they couldn’t do it even in Canada or Mexico. There’s nothing I know of in the law of either place which would forbid medicos to set up offices whose purpose was only to serve foreigners.

The unacceptable consequences will somehow be blamed on republicans and not the real problem

This is an excellent point. Employers bear a heavy tax burden under Obamacare but will get blamed for layoffs and salary cuts instead of the law causing them. It'll be more business-bashing instead of spotlighting the real problem. Evil insurance companies will be blamed for premium increases. Doctors who can't make a go of it caring for Medicare/Medicaid patients will be out for profit alone.

No thanks to Akin & Mourdock.

Don't blame Akin and Mourdock. They were both opposed to Obamacare and voters who clearly knew that made a deliberate choice to elect their opponents who will now enable Obamacare.

Schizophrenic female suburbanite Republicans who thought that they could vote for McCaskill and still escape the curse of Obamacare are about to wake up to their worst nightmare -- and there is no morning after pill to abort what they have just conceived.

If boner were nancy pelosi and Bush were in office and this was his bill... there would not have been any funding of any part of “Bushcare”. There are procedural moves that can be made to slow implementation to a crawl. dims would do it and tell America that they will block it until they control all three branches and then they would pledge to repeal it... but our side are like mittens... too nice and too timid.
