He wasn’t the director of the CIA when he was initially monitored.

Who Authorized FBI Surveillance of Gen. Petraeus?

Probably some guy in Chicago named Fat Louie.

The affair was discovered earlier this year soon after the FBI began monitoring his email.

Monitoring someone's email is not the same thing as investigating who is trying to hack into it.

I had a top secret clearance a long time ago....

Because of the work I did, the FBI visited my neighbors and family about once every three to four months asking questions about me and my familiy.....

I was also restricted on what countries I could visit...

The basic question is pretty much pointless and a non-issue at any level. Gen. Davy and his girlfriend are public employees using publicly owned com gear. EVERYBODY in military/security related services knows their communications can be spot checked or even shook down for appropriate use of both the equipment and type of traffic. Security people can rifle thru your desk on a spot check sometimes done once a year during a scheduled shutdown, usually for “maintenance”. It’s all a good reason to keep porn off your office computer.

Then again, how STUPID can Petraeus be to put ANYTHING even remotely incriminating in an email? The man is brilliant but like so many before him, and many to follow, fell victim to temptations of the flesh.

Was Petraeus using a government computer or his personal computer? Our government computers were under surveillance at all times for anything not work-related, and that was a few years ago. I’m sure it’s more sophisticated today.

“...who authorized FBI monitoring...”

Now, who do you think?

Shortly before this, when our esteemed chump in chief tried to blame his Benghazi failure on the CIA...

Can ya say “retaliation”?

Did Israel Honey Trap David Petraeus?

November 9th, 2012 | Author: Patriot

With the breaking news on General Petraeus (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/cia-chief-petraeus-resigns-reportedly-over-affair-201305343–politics.html) you might be interested in taking a look at the Mondoweiss.net link (at the following New Statesman article) which broke the story about email exchanges with David Petraeus which US mainstream media ignored as well (as also mentioned on Press TV via http://tinyurl.com/proisraelbiasedmedia & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEtASJOjDU8).

Lots of stupid comments here.

If the third party contacted the FBI about the threatening emails (under interstate communications laws perview), it would have gone to the SAC in that area, then up the food chain to, guess who? The Director of the FBI or one of his immediate assistants.

Then the question is, ‘who did Mueller contact about this’? In theory, he would have contacted someone very high in Military Counter-Intelligence, CIC or its equivalent to tell them what he had and ask them to help coordinate an investigation, both internal and external.

Secondly, it seems that he would have to contact the appropriate congressional intelligence committees, maybe even including the Dept. of Homeland Security. Re the DHS, Napolitano would have gone running to Obama in a second with this type of information.

I don’t know if Mueller would have gone to the CIA’s internal security section, but he should have, as both a professional courtesy and because they would have to be part of an internal investigation effort.

Somewhere along the line, this type of information would have been given to Secy/Defense Panetta (another Obama loyalist), Secy of State Clinton (you fill in the blanks here), Joint Chiefs of Staff (led by the gutless Gen. Dempsey), and maybe even White House advisors (many of whom couldn’t get a legitimate security clearance to clean a toilet anywhere in the government).

NSA probably had nothing to do with this, per se. They might have been “cced” as part of a general “alert” communication of a possible security risk/breach, but they almost certainly didn’t pick up the information on their own. They don’t work like that.

The whole incident stinks but if you’re not on the inside, right now all you can do is speculate, or go back and read the government documents which spell out the duties and powers of each agency mentioned here, and see if they would logically be included in a notification of a potentially major security problem.

Time will tell who is right or wrong, and all we have now is time.
