The New York Times spins it this way:
The longest-serving president of any of the three network news divisions, Steve Capus of NBC News, stepped down from his position on Friday, six months after Comcast restructured its news units in a way that diminished his authority.
Exactly how voluntary was this “stepping down”? John Nolte points to the scandal-plagued tenure of Capus at NBC News:
1. During last year’s presidential election, Andrea Mitchell was caught manufacturing a Romney gaffe where none existed.
2. During last year’s GOP primary, Ed Schultz edited video of Texas Governor Rick Perry to make him look racist.
3. In April of last year, the “Today Show” was caught editing audio of a 9-1-1 call to make George Zimmerman look racist.
4. In August of 2009, Contessa Brewer sliced and diced a photograph so it wouldn’t look like a black man attended a Tea Party carrying a firearm.
5. Just this week, NBC News maliciously edited video of a town council meeting to make it look as though Second Amendment civil rights activists heckled a parent who lost his son in Newtown.
The network should place an ad on Craigslist: “NBC News is now hiring a Democrat News Executive. Ethics and objectivity optional.”
NBC has become a joke...even in liberal circles. It’s not that this guy did WRONG, you understand...it’s that he and his people get caught too often.
Congress and the president are slime.
And NBC et al are slime molds.
Capus will wind up at Al Jazeera Amerika...
Maybe Aljezera will hire him.

He was only fired because of the Today Show. If the Today Show was still #1, he would still have a job. It has nothing to do with the liberal biases and scandals at NBC News.
Predates this guy, but don’t forget that NBC was the one that rigged a GM pickup truck to explode from a side-impact collision.
Was really inconvenient for GE because they owned NBC and another unit of GE (Delco?) was a major supplier to GM.
I’m pretty-sure Jack Welch got a phone call from the head of GM asking “Tell me again why we’re buying stuff from you?”.
Now he’s free to take a position in the Obama admin.
NBC needs a different approach to their corruption. They should copy ABC news and yes, Stephanopoulous, Sawyer et al who get away with blatant commentary in their so-called news, but I actually mean their radio newsbreaks when I’m listening to Rush, Levin, etc.
Their newsbreaks are nothing but propaganda pieces for gun control, amnesty, Obama’s “growing economy”, Republicans/tea party bad guys, gay marriage etc, by using the exact language of Jay Carney & other Obama friends to describe the issue, and by leaving out key stories that would refute their propaganda and finally, by their excited tone of voice as they deliver the “great” “news”.
Levin has started commenting against their newsbreaks when he comes back on after the break, so blatant have they become.
That’s all NBC needs to do, they don’t need to technically alter stuff in order to corrupt themselves...
Comcast got rid of him because he wouldn’t fire Matt Lauer and because he let the Today Show go into a tailspin. It’s all about the Today Show and the loss in advertising revenues for Comcast. They could care less about America.
I would kind of agree...the Today Show is a sacred cow on NBC. If they are doing well...they can carry the rest of the new bureau...no matter how far down they are. Well...presently, the Today Show is in trouble. I’m not sure that a cosmetic change or a leadership change is enough.
Comcast is going to work 2 angles on fixing the Today Show. First is cost cutting (ie. getting rid of Matt Lauer, reducing overhead, production staff, etc). That will satisfy Comcast’s immediate needs. They will give the new leader 2 years or so to turn around the show with changes in formats as long as all of the cost-cutting is made quickly.
Don’t forget, Capus was plotting to bring back perky Katie Couric to be a featured liar.

Our local station that broadcasts Rush, Levin, Hannity and local conservative programs switched from ABC every-half-hour news to Fox news feeds. Even with the Fox reporters some issues are told with frustratingly leftist slant, but it is much more bearable than ABC was when telling their lies about “Mr Bush” every half hour.
In the past 4 years has anyone heard news stories about “Mr Obama”?
NBC = Nothing But Crap
They probably will hire him at Al Jazeera or he can go work with Press TV or Russia Today. NBC is basically state run news for the Obama administration. They manipulate and influence the news cycle the way Obama wants it and not the truth.
Communistcast? ....not a chance.

It doesn’t seem like it be to hard to fix. Just copy what FOX does. Fire most of the staff that is morally corrupt (probably 85% of them), hire people with character and at least some level of conservative values, and their ratings would explode.
