Dozens of big U.S. companies to back gay marriage
Fortune ^ | February 26, 2013 | Roger Parloff

On Thursday, dozens of American corporations, including Apple, Alcoa, Facebook, eBay, Intel, and Morgan Stanley will submit an amicus brief in the landmark Hollingsworth v. Perry case broadly arguing to the U.S. Supreme Court that laws banning same-sex marriages, like California's ballot initiative Proposition 8, are unconstitutional under the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses. According to a draft copy obtained by Fortune, the companies argue that such laws "send an unmistakeable signal that same-sex couples are in some way inferior to opposite-sex couples, a proposition that is anathema to amici's commitment to equality and fair treatment to all." At least 60 companies had committed to signing the brief as of Tuesday evening, according to Joshua Rosenkranz, who is counsel of record on the brief and head of the Supreme Court and appellate litigation practice at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. That number is expected to rise by Thursday, however, according to Rosenkranz. Others who have already committed to sign include AIG, Becton Dickinson, Cisco, Cummins, Kimpton, Levi Strauss, McGraw Hill, NCR, Nike, Office Depot, Oracle, Panasonic, Qualcomm, and Xerox. (Update: Verizon and Cablevision have now joined.)

I intend to boycott each of these companies. However, I will have to look into what sort of penalty I will need to pay to get out of my Verizon cell phone contract early. At the very lease I will not engage in new business or extend existing business with any company which decides to support this cultural decay.

“I wish it were different but go up to anyone in the mall and ask if they care.”

That’s a simplistic generalization. Go up to anyone in the patriot blue states and ask if they care.

AMD is considered reasonably LGBT friendly.

Well just damn' it. Guess I'll figure out how to make this 7+ year old computer of mine last awhile longer then.

BTW: Not sure what "LGBT friendly" means. It's one thing to treat everyone the same, which I'm all for.

It's another thing (and completely unacceptable IMO) to treat one group of individuals differently (as in better) or go out of one's way to voice support for it/them/cause.

Which is AMD in your opinion?

...laws banning same-sex marriages, like California's ballot initiative Proposition 8, are unconstitutional under the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses.

Those who support same sex marriage are placing perversion above protecting the health and safety of their customers, by supporting risky and unnatural behavior.

Men and women are NOT interchangeable. The basis of the equal protection clause, is that men and women are interchangeable at will. However, this is not so, natural law prevails. The misguided companies are supporting a popular culture that is transient and suicidal.

Have these corporations considered facts such as: persons with homosexuality are significantly more likely to have psychological disorders, substance abuse problems, suicidal ideation, and to have been victims of childhood sexual abuse and violence. The relationships of men attracted to men are more likely to be short-lived and are almost never faithful over time. The HIV/AIDS epidemic among men who have sex with men continues unabated and has been linked to substance abuse and sexual addiction. Men who have sex with men are also 44 times more likely to be HIV positive, and far more likely to be inflected with other sexually transmitted diseases.

Do these corrupt companies support perversion within? Why are they compromising the mental and physical health of their employees and the people they serve, for a transient popular culture?

First, you seem to be confused about red vs. blue states. The red ones are the conservative ones.

Secondly, young people — even in red states — tend not to see this as an issue, other than “fairness” and “equality”.

Yes, there are exceptions like those in my own family.

I heard on the news today that Penny’s CEO had stated he learned the American people do not want low prices, they want sales.

No, i’m not confused. You accepted the commies designating patriot states as red. Patriots are American blue. Commies are Marxist reds. Got it?

We can’t allow the commies to define the conservatives and who we are or what color we represent. Americans are patriot blue and commies are devil red.

Cheers, FRiend

Homosexual marriage is an oxymoron. It does not exist. To call that living arrangement marriage is to destroy the meaning of the word.

God help our country, indeed.

Reminds me of this, Phillipians 3:19, from my Lenten readings: “their god is their belly and they glory in their shame.”

And the Federalist Society should really be called the “Anti-Federalist Society”. But things are as they are, and you’re spitting into the wind, my FRiend.

I guess they all want to share the business success from such policies that J.C. Penney is currently enjoying….

Next on the agenda is bisexual rights... why can’t a bisexual man or woman be allowed to marry both a man and a woman.

Than transgenders will demand their “rights”..

And than the bigamists....and the pedophiles....and than the bestialists and necrophiliacs...

They cant help it...they were born that way!

This is NOT RIGHT. It’s impossible to even BOYCOTT all of these - there’s too many and they’re too big. And you know what that means? It means we no longer have a free market. Companies have reached a size where we have NO CHOICE but to give them our money, even if we hate them. And that is NOT RIGHT, and it’s NOT CAPITALISM.

I believe a competent lawyer can argue/make the case that ‘fair and equal treatment’ does not/is not a guarantee that any persons can set up their own social/ethical mores that disturb/violate the lawfully adopted mores of the general public. I think about actions such as bigamy that are still unlawful. That all these money making corporations would cater to a specific group of persons to undue the expressed desire of most people of a state goes to show how and why the USA is in ethical difficulties from Obama and Roberts and Congress on down. I believe Sodom and Gamora were real situations in history.

"Only a small percentage of people, unfortunately, care about the gay parenting and spokeslesbian "

Well, the minute it was announced that the degenerate one would be JCP's national spokesman, I knew it would hit sales. The very minute. There are millions of conservative of my thinking, not a small percentage.
