United States Marines are being told to preserve ammunition and gasoline as a deal softening the impact of automatic spending cuts continues to elude leaders in Washington.
Marine Corps Commandant James Amos urged personnel in a video posted online Friday to "save every round, every gallon of gas," and to "take every single aspect or opportunity in training to get the most bang for the buck," a reminder of the cuts' immediate effect on the U.S. military.

Yes, I was going to say something similar. If DHS were to have all gun wielding employees start shooting today (safely at a range), the ammunition they have now would go bad before they used it all. It would take an army 20 years of war to go through 1.6 Billion rounds. I'm not sure there were $1.6 Billion rounds fired in WWII total (all forces, airplanes and ships included).
People don't understand how much a billion actually is. If a person started shooting one round/second, non stop (no food, water, sleep, etc.), it would take 50 years to fire almost 1.6 billion rounds.
THAT IS ONE ROUND PER SECOND OR 60 ROUNDS PER MINUTE.

Marines told to “save every round” while the DHS goons are acquiring billions of rounds, and thousands of APCs. Guess who’s planing on going to war. Soon.

Uh it’s estimated we fire 250000 rounds for each insurgent killed in Afghanistan. Estimates for WWII were 15000 and Vietnam 50000 rounds per enemy KIA.....

Man, if we went back to the Civil War....it was probably twenty practice shots, and you were sent off to a battle campaign.
For my whole Air Force career....I probably shot about 2,500 rounds for my whole career...back in those days....after around eighty shots....you were stamped ‘qualified’.
You make a good point about the insane consumption rate needed to consume this much ammo, even in a war. The last two Fridays I’ve spent an hour in line at my local Gander Mountain trying to score some .22 LR. If DHS is buying up this much ammo, IMHO, it’s not doing it even for possible, illegal, domestic combat operations; rather, it’s buying this much ammo to create a massive shortage of the basic components essential to make all calibers of civilian ammo. After all, what good is a car without gas to run it?

The fed is buying up this much ammo because they KNOW there is a date certain coming when they will no longer be able to be resupplied for a few years. Their planned collapse of America as we know it has warning signs we ought not ignore. This is one of them.
