26 States Set to Teach Global Warming Junk Science in Public Schools

New national science standards that make the teaching of global warming part of the public school curriculum are slated to be released this month, potentially ending an era in which climate skepticism has been allowed to seep into the nation’s classrooms.

The Next Generation Science Standards were developed by the National Research Council, the National Science Teachers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the nonprofit Achieve and more than two dozen states. The latest draft recommends that educators teach the evidence for man-made climate change starting as early as elementary school and incorporate it into all science classes, ranging from earth science to chemistry. By eighth grade, students should understand that “human activities, such as the release of greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels, are major factors in the current rise in Earth’s mean surface temperature (global warming),” the standards say.

They’re “revolutionary,” said Mark McCaffrey, programs and policy director of the National Center for Science Education (NCSE), a nonprofit that defends evolution and climate education and opposes the teaching of religious views as science.

The 26 states that helped write the standards are expected to adopt them. Another 15 or so have indicated they may accept them—meaning climate change instruction could make its way into classrooms in 40-plus states.

I de-programed my grandson recently....I told him about climate cycles, tree rings, and how the sun warms the earth. Now I’ll have to do it all over again.

Public schools are public enemy #1.

Yes they are. And politicians who pander to Muslims and ignore Islamic persecution of Christians and Jews are right up there too.

Why our Constitution grants only a federal government of limited powers and not a national government?

All it takes is one smart kid in the class to ask a dozen stupid questions, and the teacher’s whole agenda for the month....falls apart.

You can just see this...the kid asks if it’s really true that whales lose weight because of global warming (there is a science report suggesting this), the teacher says yes, then the kid asks how you weigh a whale. And the teacher is just standing there with no explanation.

Same deal...more short-nosed dogs. The kid will ask if evolution might figure into this....and the teacher has to figure some way to get out of this argument.

Or my favorite....increased mental illness because of global warming. The kid responds that he agrees, and notices this primarily with teachers in the school.... especially with science teachers. The whole class will fall apart then.

I should add...there is a report out there somewhere which suggests that acne is increasing because of global warming.

There’s at least two thousand suggest bogus reports out there and it just invites a wise kid to tear apart some marginal science teacher.

That’s good. They can’t read, do math, don’t know history, have a gutter culture, but at least they will be fully indoctrinated in the one true Faith.

My son had an incident w/his teacher last year. He actually debated her on some global warming issues. When she could not answer his questions, she ended up writing him up for “disturbing the class.” When I found out, I steamrolled into that school and fought tooth and nail...even got the principal involved. Since when was it bad to debate and provoke thought? Since when has open discussion become forbidden? Anyway, they dimissed his write-up because they knew they were wrong. I had to keep on top of that teacher the remainder of the year to let her know she was being watched. Other kids complained about her too so I felt like I was fighting for more children than just my son. Bottom line: don’t let schools bu**sh*t your kids. Get out and fight.

....and when they are paying through their noses for something that they can do nothing about, some will realize they’ve been hoodwinked.....others will go on to spread and make careers out of scamming people like Al Gore. Eventually assisting America’s enemies in destroying their own lives.

It’s time to take your kids out of Public School and away from their ungodly and amoral agendas. Our kids are getting indoctrinated when they should be educated. We can all see how our children are being destroyed for lack of knowledge.

> Public schools are public enemy #1.

This can’t be said enough.

The “public school”, including the “charter school”, is BY FAR, the largest, most expensive, most subversive, and most destructive entitlement program in the country.

The “public school” is better understood as the “government school collective”.

It is silly to imagine that you can fix the public schools, because the very concept itself is collectivist.

It is hypocritical to submit your children to an authority with whom you fundamentally disagree. Children instinctively do not trust hypocrites, so this will undermine your own authority, let alone influence, with your children.

Any child that comes out of the government school collective with their moral compass and common sense intact does so in spite of the government school indoctrination, not because of it.

To understand the content and compass of modern education, see ...
http://www.scribd.com/doc/54400125/Change-Agents-in-the-Schools-Barbara-Morris-1979

If you want to win the culture war, have lots of children (see my tagline) and homeschool them or form your own school cooperative with your church or synagogue and like-minded friends and relatives.

Nobody loves your children more than you do.

Nobody can teach your children better than you can.

Nobody knows your children better than you do.

Your children would love nothing better than to be taught by you, if you start doing so before they are corrupted by the government school collective.

If you have children, make whatever sacrifices you must to get them out of the public schools.

DO NOT FEED THE BEAST!

Especially not with your own children.

And DO NOT TAKE GOVERNMENT “EDUCATION” MONEY!

He that pays the piper calls the tune, and that’s especially true for any government entitlement program.

It is inconsistent to willingly submit your child to an authority with which you so fundamentally disagree.

Online schooling will take over at some point. Google (sadly) is well positioned to take the lead, offering a high pay job to any engineer that makes it through a tough K-16 engineering program online. A graduate will start their adult life with a good job and without $100,000 in debt and the collateral leftist brain damage.

You raise an important point. ALL these dire prediction are delivered along with weasel words like “possible”, “could”, “might”, and my all time favorite “as much as”, but never with concrete words like “will”.

Your hypothetical smart kid should then ask how the “scientists” can predict all these outcomes, and the answer will be “computer models”.

Then the smart kid asks how they know the computer models are right, and the answer is that the scientists who construct the models test them to see that they give the results that they have already decided are correct.

Then the smart kid is sent to the principal’s office, and is expelled.

Hope that the government doesn't interfere with regulations and that the market is allowed to flourish.

Sadly, I tutor some home-schooled kids who are wonderful kids but haven't the knowledge to pass the standardized tests required for higher education.

Many parents lack the requisite math, science and attendant skills required so are unable to teach them.

On the whole, though, I'll take home-schooled kids because character is a valuable life skill.

This and linked articles are truly "useful" journalism....not!

One would think that one of these "journalists" or commentators would actually provide a LIST the states SOMEWHERE amongst their verbiage.

That’s ok because MY public school doesn’t do any of that, MY children are just fine. I would never send them to one of those other, horrible, public schools, no, not MY children.

(...and that boat, really nice, the money I save by dumping my kids in public school will pay for it in less than 2 years)

[typical parental thought pattern, and yes, on this site]

It is possible for any middle schooler to prepare a 1 page paper, debunking AGW, complete with appropriate references.

We should make sure those references are readily available.
