It's not rocket surgery, Rand.

Stop giving them free sh*t and they'll go home.

NO! Illegal is ILLEGAL!! Simply cut off their jobs by fining the employer and quit with the benefits and they’ll go back to where they came. Cut this sh&& about how “difficult it is to round ‘em up”!

This is where I part company with Rand. I prefer Mike Lee or Ted Cruz for this reason, though Rand is hard to beat on the size of government.

There goes the media again...trying to confuse Illegal Immigration (Wetbacks) with Legal Immigration (Green Card Holders)

Need to come up with better "Official" names to distingush between IL-Legal "immigrants" and Legal immigrants.

That way even the low information voter will know the difference.

Auction off citizenship. (Background checks required.)

That way we get smart, hard-working, entrepreneurial, conservative, wealthy people.

If we held a Dutch Auction each year for 10,000 citizens, I’ll bet we could get $1M each. That’s $10B of deficit reduction from abroad before they start paying taxes, opening businesses, hiring Americans and spending their money.

The WSJ suggested this a week or two ago, about a decade after I regularly recommended it here on FR.

I don’t know why this is so difficult. Immigration laws should serve the interests of citizens.

Citizens should have a say in how many people are allowed to immigrate each year, and what kinds of people, and from where, because these are people who we are agreeing will share our sovereignty with us. We are agreeing that, a few years down the road, they will have an equal say in everything we do.

Immigration law should not be used to manipulate demographic patterns, or voting patterns, or labor costs. When that becomes its purpose we’ve lost the plot.

People who are not citizens do not have an automatic God-given right to be here. If our forefathers fought for independence its because we chose to be separate and to mark out our own course. We have always been open to immigration but there should be nothing automatic about that. For sure, when real unemployment is nearing 20% and you have millions out of work including millions they don’t even bother to count anymore they’ve been unemployed so long, immigration should be very limited.

So Saint Paul ain’t all THAT, hmm?
So does “evolve” mean asking for a pivet hedge on the border instead of a 100,000 volt electrified, razor serpentine, poisoned, alligator-filled moat barrier?
The whoosification of America....

We don’t have a major problem with immigration.

We have a problem with illegal immigration caused by the failure of the federal government to enforce the law of the land.

The federal government seems to spend 98% of it’s energy and discretionary funds doing many things that are not part of its constitutional duties.

At the same time it ignores or does a poor job of carrying out its few constitutional duties.

Conflicting messages ping!

Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Wednesday that Republicans must “evolve” on immigration while preventing America from becoming a magnet for immigrants to come and get benefits.
We cannot just be a beacon for everyone to come here on benefits,” Paul said on conservative commentator Bryan Fischer’s radio program Wednesday. “You can’t have open borders in a welfare state. We’ve got a pretty significant welfare state, so it’s not just about normalizing the 11 or 12 million here, it’s whether or not while you’re doing that another 11 or 12 million come in, and I think that will bankrupt the country,” Paul said.

Oh yeah, gotta have a little controversy over Paul.
GOPe just cannot have him getting too uppity.

Anyone here that does not know Rand Paul's stance on immigration by now is probably too stupid to even vote.
It has not changed a bit since the first time I heard him and is very little different from his father's.

Yep- GOP must go from thinking that ‘illegal’ is actually illrgal to thinking that ‘illegal’ means entitled

What the hell is with all these politicians compromising? Let’s just htrow up signs all along hte boarder announcing that we are dropping the word ‘illegal’ from our terminology and inviting anyone across for full US benifits and entitlements- infact, let’s just drop the words ‘sin’ ‘ciminals’ crime’ ‘murderer’ etc etc etc from our vocabulary because by golly we don’t want to offend anyone- Whiel we’re at it, let’s throw God compeltely out of America- We don’t need Him anymore- He’s blessed us, and now we can ‘stand on our own two feet’ so let’s just throw Him out because some folks fiund Him objectionable- wouldn’t want to offend a small minority of people in the US by allowing Him to stay and continue blessing us-

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

When Willard the AMNESTY Bill pusher was the e-GOP nominee we were chastised (nice term) for not voting for him...

Now the e-GOP is trying to cast Rand Paul as Willard II ???

Cant we get over the need for Romney influence and all the anti-American aspects it entails and get back FINALLY to the Constitution ???

This is never about immigration...

Its about allowing anti-immigration lawbreakers to flaunt and override our sovereign laws..

I dont know what Rand Paul wants on this issue and I’ll worry about that when we get to primary 2016...

Meanwhile hes amongst the forerunner for POTUS...

One requirement being...guts and sticking up for America...

Dont look to any of the old guard e-GOP for that...

I dont think a Republican has to kiss Obamas butt at a useless dinner while theres a country to be run/saved to prove they are doing something of substance...

The place for our representatives both Senatye and house last Wednesday was the Capitol building, not out laffing it up with the clown of the White Hut...

Bob Corker of TN ???

Yeppers thats no surprize to us...

He was a RINO from the start...

He employed illegal aliens...knowingly..

and sent his peons to beat back and slander those of us who fought the AMNESTY Bills..

Dont look at me ...I never voted for him...

I voted for Ed Bryant...

I don't agree with Paul completely here, but this article smells like an attempt to knock him down a few pegs as a conservative darling.

What he's saying isn't half as bad as Rubio's plan.

We need to evolve back to the position of sending all illegals home. It will take some doing. Right now people are torn between making them full citizens or just giving them green cards. It has already "evolved" in the public arena way past where the American people are. And so it will take an evolution and a leader who causes the evolution. Call it Fabian Patriotism.

Start with closing the border. Then start enforcing employer sanctions. Give employers a warning before you actually start enforcement. Announce that there will be no more use of false SSN's. Imprison those who commit these felonies already on the books.

If it turns out we actually need cheap labor supplied by illegal aliens (I am skeptical; I think all it does is lower labor costs but that the cost to society is far higher than the benefit), then we can always pass laws that provide for temporary workers, under very strict conditions and supervision, to be allowed into the country. Without their kids, spouses and grandmothers.

When you get this far, attack the issues of illegal alien benefits and education. That is a theft by a trespasser of goods and services of tens of thousands of dollars a year. It is more harmful to this country than all the petty burglaries combined. People will cry out about the horror of being mean to women and children; that's why we will have to evolve to rationality. Explain how much it costs our society and why we can't afford it. This is getting close to the end game. Eliminate the benefits and there will be no reason for them to be here.

Next, we have to get a handle on the notion of birth citizenship by illegals. There is no such thing, but we have treated it like there is. It is therefore a difficult situation, especially as to those who have been given purported citizenship and treated as citizens. How do you take it away once granted? I might be willing to allow those "illegal citizens" to remain citizens, so long as the law was clarified to ensure that in the future, only those born in the US to parents who were here legally, and not on tourist visas, diplomatic visas, student visas, etc.

All we have to do for any of these things to happen is to follow the Constitution and the existing law. The Constitution does not actually require that we provide benefits to illegals, for example, although the Supreme Court has said we do. It was one of the more legislative decisions of the 20th Century. The law provides for criminal penalties for employing illegals, and for illegals using phony documents. The law even allows for forfeiture of assets of those transporting aliens, or of houses in which people conspired to hide illegal aliens. The people have been led to lawlessness by their elites' desire to foist a new minority on us, and it is up to new leaders to evolve us out of it.

Rand Paul, don't know what you are thinking on this issue.

And thus dies Rand Paul’s presidential prospects.

The Republican party is contemplating suicide. And amnesty for illegal immigration will be the weapon.

Romney did not lose because of his strong and consistent stand against amnesty.

He lost because the rest of the Republican elites - politicians like McCain, strategists and consultants like Rove, the Chamber of Commerce and the Wall Street Journal, and imbeciles on Romney’s campaign, like Eric (Etch-a-Sketch) Fehrnstrom - painted a picture that Republicans were not serious on stopping illegal immigration, so why even bother to vote?

The overwhelming majority of the American people want illegal immigration stopped, and do not want to reward law-breaking illegal aliens with citizenship. You would think that it would therefore be obvious that a strong stand AGAINST illegal immigration would be a winning strategy.

But the ruling class, even in the Republican party, think it is necessary to pander to illegals at great expense to the American people, and submit to the economic pressure and greed of the Chamber of Commerce types who want to maximize profits on the backs of illegal aliens.

There already is a path to citizenship, it’s called “Get In Line and Get Your Citizenship Just Like Any Other Immigrant.”
