Sen. McCain: I ‘don’t understand’ GOP threats to filibuster Senate gun bill
The Hill ^ | April 7, 2013 | Meghashyam Mali

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday expressed opposition to possible GOP efforts to filibuster a Senate gun-control measure, saying he did not “understand” the move to block debate.

“I don’t understand it,” said McCain on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.”

“What are we afraid of? Why would we not want… if this issue is as important as all of us think it is, why not take it to one of the world’s greatest deliberative bodies

… A number of GOP lawmakers, including Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Mike Lee (Utah), Marco Rubio (Fla.), and Ted Cruz (Texas) wrote to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) vowing that they would “oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions.”

Reid is planning to bring to the Senate floor this month legislation that would expand background checks, toughen penalties on straw purchasers of firearms and provide funding for school safety.

No wonder millions of Americans refused to vote for him (even to keep the ET marxist out). What a complete loser!

To those Limbaugh (I mention him because he came up with the term) LIVs McCain is the face of the Republican party. And, the MSM (mainlining socialist media) are going to contine to use him until conservatives make a big enough fuss that it becomes clear he doesn’t speak for the Republican party.

We know exactly where you stand already, John.

Horse hockey , the purpose of Senate is to do the will of the people who sent you there . We don't give a hoot about your will . You do not rule over us and were not elected to do so .

The people are buying guns like crazy and arming themselves . That aught to give you a clue that they want to keep their guns .

The people of Arizona should recall this traitor and send him packing .

“What are we afraid of?"

Reminds me of the old joke: Local cop makes a traffic stop on an old motorist. Steps up to the driver's window and first says, "Are you armed, sir?"

The driver replies "Yes, officer. I am." as he hands the cop his concealed carry permit.

Cop: "Where is it, sir?"

Driver: "Which one?"

Cop: "You mean you carry more than one ?"

Driver: "I usually got three, and spare mags for each."

Cop: "What are you afraid of, sir?"

The elderly looks up, smiles broadly, and says "Not a damned thing."

A true maverick would never trample on the Constitution. It is still against the law to sell to a felon or to be a felon and buy. Enforce existing laws. What is so hard to understand? McCain and anyone else who thinks likewise can GTH.

The purpose of the United States Senate is to defend the constitution and our Liberty from the hot heads in the house (and the treasonous democrats).

Great post - a summary, completely serious in point, but made with humor! We have to keep that American attitude, and remember who the real people are...they are the majority, and will join our side when they see the reality of "progressivism"(sic)...meantime, fight back on the media, who prevent "reality" from ever appearing in the news...and fight back in the neighborhoods where the voters are almost criminally ignorant about candidates, policies, etc...methinks we need "missionaries" to the American citizens who have been SO "dumbed down" year after year that they don't know freedom, they just know "the government will take care of me"...it can't work, and it's enslaving, not liberating.

Wasn’t this dip stick, McLame, having dinner with Zero when Rand Paul filibustered for 11 some hours without a teleprompter.

Senator, you and Graham have to go, just to name two, which reminds me of the question, “What to you call two rinos at the bottom of the ocean? A good start!”

Is crazy, this issue was not addressed untill a couple of psycos go wild and kill people! Legislators sit around all day to have something like this dropped in their lapto launch them to National fame to advance their career nothing more. They are protected and the 2nd adm doesnot pretain to them!
Without these psycoi individuals it would have been just another business day!
4 people in a population of over 300mil adults and 3 or 4 now make policy!
All the events that led up to these events could have been curtailed with the present system! No matter what these so called Gov officials do the crimimal will always have a weapon when needed! Gov will only control law abiding citizens!

It is still against the law to sell to a felon or to be a felon and buy. Enforce existing laws.

And those laws have been proven to be completely worthless again and again. The guy who ambushed firemen on Christmas morning wasn't supposed to have a gun either. It could have been prevented by keeping him locked up for good after he beat his own grandmother to death with a hammer.

That’s because you’re a charter member of the big-government/big-corporate/big-union criminal complex, Mr. McKeating.

Senator McCain: I don't understand testicles. The North Vietnamese removed mine. This will be important for every comment I ever make.

Juan still is convinced his opinion matters... The same Juan who, during a debate said “America has nothing to fear from an Obama presidency.” McCain is obviously experiencing advanced dementia... it’s time to hand him some brightly colored toys and park him at a desk safely at a far distance from the action.I

The old man needs to go back home and sit on a rocker on his front porch. I agree - when it comes to the 2nd amendment, there is not debate. Do you think liberals and the lame-stream media would ever allow any debate or discussion on an restrictions to the Freedom of the Press provision in the 1st amendment. Hell NO!!!
