More folks ought to read about Chaffetz. He’s a rising star who made the transformation from Liberal to Conservative by using his mind. Here’s hoping he smokes out the ammo stockpile nonsense.

Good Point.

These ammo orders were not all made by the same person or from just one manufacturer. Several people were “ordered” to buy ammunition. And those that gave the order likely were also instructed to do so. There are likely at least hundreds of people that must have been involved but only a few that might know WHY.

The best of the investigators/journalists/reporters is going to have to find the people that made the call or issued the purchase order on behalf of the government and start working backwards. Why did you place these orders? Who directed you? Etc.

Are there any real investigators left? We couldn’t crack Bengazi. And the whole world witnessed that mess.

Do

Well that’s exactly it. Of course they didn’t use that much more than they actually had purchased 116M rounds vs 103M rounds. They are probably sending them to South America or North Korea, or some other commie buddy or socialist group they love. Perhaps the Black Panthers and Obama’s “Civilian Security Corps”, or whatever else he has planned. FUBO and your “most transparent administration in history.”

>used 116 million that same year
>Starting to wonder if that 116 million was really used, >lots of other possibilities other than it was really used.
>Where’s the spent brass, where’s the documentation that it >was used?
>Surely agents had to sign out for it.

Many agencies throughout government still issue and carry the S&W 640 as a backup firearm. They would qualify with it at least twice a year if not more.

That is a revolver and each agent probably shoots 100-150 rounds a year on the range. The Bureau of Prisons still issue .38 revolvers to some guards for transport or prison security duties. They train at FLETC with ammo obtained by HSI.

Sorry, but your information is factually wrong. All agencies did not transition to the M9 Beretta although most agencies did transition to modern semi-automatic handguns of various makes and models. Almost all of them still continued to issue and carry backup pistols and the majority of those (until the subcompacts hit the market) remained the snub-nosed .38 revolver.

Even with the popularity of subcompact semi-auto pistols there are still tens of thousands of snubnose .38’s out there. If you assume a low end of 100 rounds a year per active agent and several hundred rounds for new hires in training it can add up. Everyone that is issued one has to qualify with it twice a year at a minimum.

116,000,000/70,000=1657.

1657 rounds per person. That would be a little less than 3 boxes per month if they practiced every month, which I somehow doubt.

I don’t think there is some ‘secret’ plan to this whole deal....it’s more like kids in a candy store. This recent episode where they bought several thousand of these armored trucks that the Army used in Afghanistan and Iraq....’manly-toys’, with billions spent on them. The fancy new uniforms that TSA got....same deal. I think the list goes on and on, with night-vision goggles, quad-bikes, etc.

The one thing I’ve noticed over the past thirty years being around the US military...the ‘kids in a candy store’ mentality has taken over and a vast amount of money is spent each year on questionable items. No one seems to worry about audits.

Here we find DHS officers firing off a minimum of 1,000 rounds a year of ammo. I can recall while in the AF simply getting 90 rounds every two years to stay qualified. The DHS folks are getting away with this because no one will do an audit and suggest that 300 rounds a year is more than enough for each guy.

all seventy THOUSAND of them — couldn’t stop two Chechen rebels from killing and maiming hundreds.

That's because islamic terrorists are not the target. We are.

Just a crazy theory...

1. Put huge demand on ammunition manufacturers
2. Companies expand facilities to meet demand
3. Government stops buying, relying on stockpiles instead
4. Lower revenue no longer covers the new operating expenses
5. Government offers bailout but only ammo companies agree to gun/ammo sale restrictions

I still want to know who they plan on shooting. This is NOT just about cutting off supply.

“But but but... he’s a Mormon! That doesn’t go over too well for many here.”

Yes, they are slaves to their notion of what passes for “religion,” and they would rather trash a decent, hard working legislator for his benign beliefs rather than help him to succeed in their behalf. In a perverse way, they are really no better than the Muslims that they really hate. It’s like “God” has “told” me to hate everyone who doesn’t believe as I do.
