“SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER.”

Pinciples trump “rules”’every time.

The ONLY way to abolish PC group think is to SPEAK AGAINST IT AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY!

> What surprises me most is that this happened in Texas!

Why are you surprised?

The government school collective is run by the same machine virtually throughout the country.

With notably few exceptions, the teachers have been thoroughly indoctrinated in the collectivist statist worldview.

Almost all school collectives are run by the same unions.

Fedzilla’s Department of Education distributes money and regulations to all school collectives throughout the country.

You see, the “public school” has become the Bus Ministry of the State Church of Humanism.

The “public school”, including the “charter school”, is BY FAR, the largest, most expensive, most subversive, and most destructive entitlement program in the country.

The “public school” is better understood as the “government school collective”.

It is silly to imagine that you can fix the public schools, because the very concept itself is collectivist.

It is hypocritical to submit your children to an authority with whom you fundamentally disagree. Children do not trust hypocrites, so this will undermine your own authority, let alone influence, with your children.

Any child that comes out of the government school collective with their moral compass and common sense intact does so in spite of the government school indoctrination, not because of it.

To understand the content and compass of modern education, see ...
http://www.scribd.com/doc/54400125/Change-Agents-in-the-Schools-Barbara-Morris-1979

If you want to win the culture war, have lots of children (see my tagline) and homeschool them or form your own school cooperative with your church or synagogue and like-minded friends and relatives.

Nobody loves your children more than you do.

Nobody can teach your children better than you can.

Nobody knows your children better than you do.

Your children would love nothing better than to be taught by you, if you start doing so before they are corrupted by the government school collective.

If you have children, make whatever sacrifices you must to get them out of the public schools.

DO NOT FEED THE BEAST!

Especially not with your own children.

And DO NOT TAKE GOVERNMENT “EDUCATION” MONEY!

He that pays the piper calls the tune, and that’s especially true for any government entitlement program.

This gets back to the old statement that “all politics is local.” This, apparently more ominously, translates to “all problems with Freedom is local.”

What really needs to happen to effect meaningful change, what really needs to happen I cannot say here.

Some rules don’t deserve to be followed just like unlawful orders.

Sometimes no rules deserve to be followed.

“however, he was fully aware of the school’s rules and decided to shirk them. For his sake, I hope he learns to abide by rules more closely at Annapolis.”

I hope he continues to revere the Constitution, and say “to hell with the so-called ‘rules’ “ when he gets to Annapolis.

Rules like this are for communists and tyrants. The Constitution is for free men. Silencing speakers is for wimps, p*ssies, and the LGBT crowd. Sounds like they were ready for him. Also sounds like you’d fit right in at that High School - maybe as a hall monitor. Grow a pair.

Hmmm. This doesn’t appear all that straight forward. The school officials may be trying to enforce some level of decorum considering the audience may have family members including younger children as well as parents. Can you imagine someone launching into a tirade of obscenities just for the hell of it? Would the speech this young man gave have been approved if he had submitted it? Was the speech censored because of the topic or because he did not follow rules that may actually be reasonable considering the venue?

I wouldn’t be so hasty to condemn the school officials since there are too many unknowns and too much speculation about motives.

The “follow the rules” days are over my FRiend. We are now engaged in a war to try to save the Constitution. We need young men and women who are willing to put their lives, their careers, their future on the line to battle the forces of evil which are bent on destroying this nation.

I do not believe any valedictorian should be submitting their speech to the government for “approval”. Not in this poisoned atmosphere.

They can shut off his mike, but he earned the right to speak his own mind.

We are at war my FRiend. The time for blindly following the rules is over. Either we fight with all the tools at our disposal or we surrender.

For his sake, I hope he learns to abide by rules more closely at Annapolis.

Indeed.

In fact, he may pay heavily for this "exercise of a free right". He willfully disregarded the rules for his own aggrandizement, and Annapolis and the Navy are all about rules.

One could wonder after this indiscretion (there were more efficient ways to achieve his goals) whether the Navy will trust him enough to make him an officer.

So why should the speeches of the smartest people in their high school classes need to be reviewed and pro-approved? Don’t want the other students to get any independent thoughts in their heads, I suppose.

While our laws are quite uniform in Texas since we don’t have “home rule” (thank God)- the conservative nature of the state varies from county to county.

For the most part this IS indeed a conservative state. The problem (regarding schos) is that nanny state “conservatives” are on the school boards (a few exceptions).

I live in a county that went about 70% against Ozero both times, but the school board here won’t even entertain arming teachers or faculty members (even though state law already gives them authority to do so).

This past school year I worked very hard to have our kids’ private school set reasonable policies and procedures to allow faculty and parents with CHLs to carry at school and they ended up approving just a few non teacher faculty members and NO parents.

This despite the fact that I was on a 6 person security committe and it took me three months to get a couple of people on it to secure a unanimous recommendation to the Board.

Not to mention that we directly pay for their salaries and building, etc.
I worked numerous hours on this providing legal counsel with no charge. All I wanted was a safe place for my kids and a school to refect in its policies the values we cherish at home.

The Board shot down our recommendation in a single meeting (closed off to the committee)/”.

I promptly j formed them my kids would be home schooled next year.

Texas? THIS HAPPENED IN TEXAS? What happened to whiskey for my men and beer for my horses? Did those Tennesseans die for Texas at the Alamo for nothing? Are you going to let these mealy-mouthed liberals destroy your values without a fight? Texas was my hope, my “city on the hill”. If Texas doesn’t stand up our whole country is in the crapper.

My daughter is Valedictorian....she won’t let me write her speech....

Congrats to you! Seeing as how you follow and post on FR and your daughter seems to have smarts and a conservative upbringing, I'm sure she's capable of producing a speech that would make us all proud. Fear not.

Have you heard this:

To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.
--Voltaire

Or what you are not allowed to talk about.

Killing this speech of freedom is yet another example of what seeps and flows down hill from those who ran a successful coup against our Republic. How do you like it so far?

I guess we didn't like freedom as much as our ancestors did and traded it for new ownership and some free stuff. I wonder if the rest of us will miss it.

We haven't been formally introduced. What is the name of the GuvCo oligarchy Beast that now owns US and pulls our fashionably new chains?

No, the rule was to not deviate from the approved speech. He knew the rule but did anyway. The mic was turned off. In another article his friend agreed this had nothing to do with the Constitution but that he broke the rule. If his original speech had been about the Constitution, everything might have been fine. Schools can’t have kids go off on whatever in front of thousands in the audience. If I was the speech approval honcho, I wouldn’t care what the kid wanted to speak about as long as it is within the bounds of decency but let him go off and I’m pulling the plug pronto.

The school’s microphone, the school’s forum, the school’s approval. If the kid didn’t like what he agreed to then he should let someone else do the speech.

It doesn’t surprise me at all. Texans are so proud of their state and their ‘freedom’ that they won’t allow criticism or comments that point out that they’re loosing them. They didn’t protect what they had, assuming that it’ll always be there, and it’s going up in smoke.

I’ve never met such a large group of hard-heads in my life.
