The U.S. should have thought of this problem before it helped create (beginning a decade ago) the “regime change” “Syrian opposition” - with the Saudis, the MB and Al Queda - and then foisted it on the world as a “civil war” and created events that threw Assad into such a close embrace with Iran & Russia.
The chickens are coming home to roost.
Agreed. Since our $hithead President supports the rebels, Assad has to be the better bet.
The Mail over in the UK ran a story today about our rebel allies beheading a Christian taxi driver and feeding his body to dogs. There IS a bad side in this war and we are on their side.
Neither side winning is good for the USA so let them kill each other.
Because the secular Assad dictatorship isn't "theocratic" and leaves chrstians alone, some FReepers seem to think he's some sort of hero. While he is indeed preferable to the opposition, he's still a Communist dictator supported by Iran (just as in Libya, though rebels were worse than Qaddafi, he was still a bad guy).
Regardless of who wins, Syria probably isn't going to know any peace and tranquility until Mashiach HaMelekh comes.
Qaddafi was preferable to the rebels but no way was he a "moderate." He was a Communist dictator, a Soviet client and proxy, a radical supporter anti-American Third World revolutionaries and dictators, a worldwide exporter of terrorism, and ruled by merging islam and Communism ("Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya").
Do the Israelis really believe that they would be better off with Syria’s answer to the Muslim brotherhood running things (or, worse still, Al Quaeda proxies).
Assad may be hostile to Israel, but the United States is certainly better off with a secular dictator in power than with having Islamists taking over another country, as they already have in Egypt and Libya and as they’re on the verge of in Tunisia. At the very least Assad isn’t a supporter of various jihadis around the world, and he isn’t butchering Christians like the opposition.
Israel has the choice between having Assad or the Muslim Brotherhood as its neighbor.
I believe Israel will be better off with Assad next door.
LOL.
I can’t help but snicker and take a deep gulp of my Heineken when I read your statement and compare it with your tagline.
The chickens are coming home to roost for the Russians, and the denouement is going to be their final removal from the Middle East. It may even be militarily costly, which will be great.
Pro-Putin/Pro-Russian concern trolls may not think so.
...and make sure they don’t run out of ammo until the last one is dead.
Syria will probably become like Lebanon has been — speaking of chickens coming home to roost.
/bingo
We don’t want Assad to win. Period. We want him to die. Same goes for al-Qaeda, which got plenty of support by Assad during the Iraq war. The dirty bastard belongs on a slow-turning spit in Hell.
Assad will totter on for a couple of years, but the divisions which were already present (and have been for centuries) are not going anywhere, so his best-case scenario is to maintain control over the enclave where most of the Alawites are clustered. And like all Muzzie despots, he’s leaving Christians to their own devices.
The only problem is, they may run out of ammo.
The good part of a Muzzie civil war is, everybody wins.
Thank-you for the compilation.

Not in this lifetime.
“Pro-Putin/Pro-Russian concern trolls may not think so.”
I am NOT a “Pro-Putin/Pro-Russian concern” troll.
NEITHER am I pro Wahabi-Saudi, pro Muslim Brotherhood, pro-Sunni Islamist troll (the key players behind the “Syrian opposition”)
