“IRS, EPA, HHS, ABC, and XYZ should not be armed in this manner. The sheriff should be used for anything requiring arrest.”

There are actually several things going on here. First, there’s mission creep. Each agency has increased what it does so it can get bigger. Getting bigger is the primary goal of any bureaucratic enterprise. The bigger it gets the more the people running it can justify their pay and benefits. Secondly, socialists just love men (oh, pardon) persons in uniform. They represent power. If you’re a bureaucrat on the move then you really need that extra fashion accessory, the small army...if you can get tanks then you’ve one-upped the other bureaucrats. Lastly, it’s about intimidation. Why on Earth did the government go in with a SWAT raid on Elian Gonzales, Waco, or Ruby Ridge? Clearly they were unnecessary. Those were object lessons to the public.

When performing their duties, special agents carry firearms and are authorized to use deadly force to protect themselves and the public
So they can protect them selves but we cannot.

Komrade, YOU are the danger.

(You probably want fewer and lower taxes, less spending, Border Control, Personal Liberty and such)

” the agency... does not always provide remedial training to agents who fired their weapons due to “negligence.””

But, the agency will give them a bonus.

IRS should be hiring auditors, not gunslingers...?

No...they should be hiring lawyers to keep them out of prison...

They might want to think about hiring bodyguards for the coming onslaught.

They should not even have guns. If they face a problem with someone, they should call in local authorities or the FBI.
