George Zimmerman Witness Can't Read Letter She 'Wrote' About Shooting
ABC News ^ | June 27, 2013 | SENI TIENABESO and MATT GUTMAN

A teenage friend of Trayvon Martin was forced to admit today in the George Zimmerman murder trial that she did not write a letter that was sent to Martin's mother describing what she allegedly heard on a phone call with Martin moments before he was shot.

In a painfully embarassing moment, Rachel Jeantel was asked to read the letter out loud in court.

"Are you able to read that at all?" defense attorney Don West asked.

Jeantel, head bowed, eyes averted whispered into the court microphone, "Some but not all. I don't read cursive."

It sent a hush through the packed courtroom.

Jeantel, 19, was unable to read any of the letter save for her name...

During nearly two hours of cross examination Wednesday in which he tried to raise questions about her version of events and accused her of telling several lies under oath, including about her whereabouts during Martin's wake.

"Under oath, you created a lie and said you went to the hospital?" asked West.

"Yes," responded Jeantel. She said she lied because she didn't want to see the body.

Jeantel became increasingly agitated and scoffed when West told her that she would have to continue testifying.

She is seen as a critical witness to the prosecution because she is the only person able to say that Martin claimed that he noticed a strange man following him and that he was scared. Jeantel said Martin described the stranger as a "creepy ass cracker."

Jeantel said Martin, 17, was walking home during halftime of the NBA All-Star Game when he became unnerved because he was being followed.

schools fail students

The problem is that schools, starting at a very early age, should fail students who don't know anything.

Illiterate. In this day and age, really?

My company had a big problem with workers unable to read hazmat safety precautions and MSDS sheets. All of the applicants are now screened for literacy. On testing day, about five applicants will remain to complete the hiring process from a pool of 15 - 20. Most of them are black.

A LIV of Obozo no doubt. And I will bet she has an ObamaPhone.

What a chilling comparison. Without a conviction the Boers would have extended the war. With it, a once great nation sold its soul.

With what is going on at SCOTUS since the Roberts court started, to quote Claudius, “When sorrows come, they come not single spies but in battalions.”

I’m surprised she didn’t call it “curly-q”.

I don't get it. A cursive O, looks like an O snap.

I hope the defense keeps her on the stand for days

And recalls her again later

and keep at it until she admits the prosecution coached her

THAT will be worth watching

Can’t read. can’t talk. Can’t form an intelligent thought and cannot verbalize that thought into comprehensible words. The few words that she does speak are ebonics that only ghetto hoods can understand... nothing resembling proper English language. The only thing that this creature can do well is cash a welfare check and procreate. She and her like reproduce faster than any other group, filling society with more and more dumbed-down Obomanites for our future. That is why I am sad at this lady or thing or whatever it is.

You forgot that she is undoubtedly a LIV and cast a vote for her hero on Nov 6, 2012.

I bet if she thinks hard enough , she would remember that

” I don't read cursive.”

Alrighty then. She needs to be prosecuted then for lying. And the person who wrote the letter as well.

Unreal...

Don’t be surprised if a literacy test in the near future is deemed discriminatory, for just that reason.

Several companies are currently being sued by the NLRB for asking about arrests on their applications because of higher arrest rates for blacks.

The way we are going it won’t be long until private employers must list all job openings with the US Department of Labor. Department civil servant, in consultation with the appropriate union, will send the company a government vetted individual to fill the position. Employers will not have any discretion in hiring or firing.

Of course employers will be held liable for any acts of the employee while on the job.
