Mob attacks and beats pregnant woman (Sanford, Florida) (February 2013)

Florida (The Gaslamp Post) – Sanford police arrested 12 people, including children and teens, in connection with a mob beating of a pregnant woman. The brutal attack which comes almost a year after the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin in the same town, has many throughout the area shocked.

The fight which occurred at around 10:15 pm this past Sunday, is believed to have been part of an ongoing conflict between neighbors.

According to WKMG-TV, a six-month pregnant woman, Ashley Flournoy was attacked by a group of people Sunday night in the front yard of a home in the Daffodil Terrace area. Her mother and sister were also beaten when they tried to intervene and save the woman.

Neighbors say that one of the attackers had used a “blunt object” in the beating.

The 911 caller stated that they saw a man waving a gun to prevent anyone from trying to help the pregnant woman.

“There was a gentlemen, standing there, with a gun, waving it saying if anybody jumped in he was gonna shoot,” the woman said.

Sanford police arrested 12 individuals including 4 juveniles, the youngest being 12-years-old, who they say were involved in the attack. According to Fox35, police took into custody; Iareian Jiquel Kennedy, 18, Harry Maurice Roberts, 42, Lasheena Shawndrell Thomas, 28, Antoinette Letitia Ford, 23, Quentin Herring, 29, Javaress Reshod Barnes, 24, Arshala Lee Ford, 25, and Jarvis Jamaal Young, 20.

All are charged with felony aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.

Expert shot? Who knows? He hit his target at a range under 18 inches, which means he's not a total limp wristed moron. Besides, he used a 9 mm, and a whole lot of .45 ACP shooters will say no one who carries a 9 mm can be an expert.

We don't do CHL here, not without “good and substantial reason” to carry a handgun, including a finding that the permit is “necessary as a reasonable precaution against apprehended danger” (People's Republic of Maryland). Oddly, the video at your link shows and states that the victim is black.

Looks like that's the case.

She may self-identify as black and carry black genes, but if that is a photo of her she is no more black than I am. But then, I'm not a believer in the "one drop" rule.

Let's get this over with once and for all. The victim of this incident, a pregnant woman, was black not white. The two videos that have been posted in this thread are conflicting when it comes to her race, but there is other information online that resolves the conflict, conclusively.

It is undisputed that the victim's name is Ashley Flournoy; that the incident occured in the Daffodil Terrace section of Sanford FL, which is in Seminole County; and that the incident involved Ms. Flornoy and certain of her neighbors.

An online report at arrests.org shows a picture of one Ashley Flournoy. She is a black woman. It shows her address as being the 2500 block of Daffodil Terrace, Sanford, FL. Seminole County. Her arrest involved a charge of driving with a suspended license.

Same name, same address. Clearly this is the Ashley Flournoy who was the victim of the attack described in the intial post.

These facts do not make her beating by a dozen attackers any less terrible. But you have to ask yourself whether you would have had any more than a passing interest in this story if you didn't believe the victim was white.
