Loud? One of my earliest memories is my parents taking me to see the Thunderbirds back when they flew F-4’s. WHAT? DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?

“$300 million new maybe, but come on, the value drops by a lot when you drive it off the lot and its so old....”

Yeah, esp. the ones made in the U.S.

Great shot! Spangdahlem keeps theirs clean. I'm adding that to my wallpaper rotation.

It's probably just me, but the painted "canopy" on the belly always makes me smile.

Did the Canadians come up with that first on their F-18s?

One good low level, full AB high speed pass with a B-1B probably would have scattered the Benghazi attackers and put the fear of Allah in their hearts at the same time. Might have even loosened a bowel or two as well.

” nothing in the pipeline to replace it. Same with all of our combat aircraft”

F15s are still being made today. Old but good.

Good men have chosen to do such in the past... in Libya... but it was with F-111s... and it warn't no flyby Op... and the Good Men were not purple-lipped Marxist Mullato Community Organizers that spend half their life playing golf on vacation, and the other half campaigning.

I am thrilled to know that for a mere $100,000,000 a copy it is capable of outperforming a 40 year old airframe that dates from the late 50’s and that cost less than 1/3 as much even in present day dollars.

Bravo.

Unfortunately not for U.S. in an improved version. We are still mostly flying airplanes with less power than the ones sold to Singapore and the Saudis. I guess we do still have better weapons systems though.

You said it was not combat effective. I disagree. Fortunately the the military agrees with me and not you. If you prefer I am sure we could save a lot of money by using old hardware. Being superior costs a lot. Since I have worked on the aircraft and have friends who have also you might see why I take personal offense at you claiming that money was a waste. You are stating, with no evidence except media hype, that my efforts and the efforts of a good many were useless and frivolous. I am just glad that the military does not base its procurement on breathless stories from the main stream media. It is tragic that people, on FR of all places, do.
