HOUSE GOP LEADER: DEFUNDING OBAMACARE 'NOT REALISTIC'
Breitbart ^ | Aug 24, 2013 | By Mike Flynn

Posted on 08/24/2013 10:04:25 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, number 4 in House GOP Leadership, said the effort by conservatives to defund ObamaCare is "not realistic." She advocated a piece-meal approach to repeal, delay or defund individual provisions of the sweeping health care overhaul. The debate will likely dominate discussions within the Republican caucus when Congress returns next month.

“To get the entire bill repealed, or defunded, is probably not realistic,” McMorris Rodgers said. “But I do think there are provisions in the law that we can get delayed, or provisions in the law we can get defunded.”

The government's spending authority expires on September 30th. To avoid a government shutdown, Congress must pass a continuing resolution authorizing continued spending. Many conservatives, led by Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, want Republicans to strip spending for ObamaCare out of this continuing resolution.

Eighty House Republicans sent a letter to House Speaker Boehner on Thursday endorsing this plan. More moderate Republicans, however, are worried that such a move would garner a veto of the continuing resolution from Obama and lead to a government shutdown. Party leaders are concerned that they would be blamed for any shutdown.

GOP Leaders seem to be galvanizing around a plan to delay by a year the implementation of ObamaCare. “The delays the administration has been forced to implement in the healthcare law have given us a golden opportunity to talk about fairness," Boehner said Thursday, according to The Hill. "‘If big business gets relief from the president's healthcare law, families and small businesses should, too.’ This message strikes a chord with Americans. When people hear it, it resonates.”

It’s simply impossible.

Considering Limbaugh says very little in the way of criticism of the GOPe, and even berates the base to ‘understand’ their temerity I’d say he’s just as guilty.

You haven't been listening lately, have you?

Obviously.

Ok, what has he said, concrete, to seriously criticize the amnesty supporters?

What’s he said negative about Rubio lately?

Or Boehner and McConnell?

You know, the traitor wing of the loyal opposition party...

Now, let me get this straight.

If Republicans should support funding of the federal government--just without (the much-despised) ObamaCare--and if President Obama should veto that bill, it would be the Republicans who would receive the blame for shutting down the government.

That is what the article is saying, right?

The conservative plan, as stated here, sounds entirely realistic to me....if the GOP would make it ABUNDANTLY clear to the media and to the public (bypass the media if you have to) that the ENTIRE government EXCEPT for the wildly unpopular Obamugabe DEATH PANEL LAW is funded.

Heck, even throw in some "pay increases" for soldiers and teachers, I don't know...but do it ALL with the caveat that the money NOT spent on Obamugabe's DEATH PANEL LAW is being used for other things.

Time to grow a pair of testicles.

We have time. Cut loose with full attack on email ,fax and telephone. Don’t stop. Scorched earth. Let your congressman know that he is political history if he voted to fund the horrible law. NO MERCY.

I stopped listening when he failed to have anything concrete to say about the first amnesty push in Bush’s first administration.

He had the perfect bully pulpit. Didn’t use it.

He’s a globalist. Only he’s a slightly conservative globalist.

Then, you must've stopped listening by 2004. It must not have been a big "amnesty push", though, because I don't recall anything about it. No wonder Limbaugh said nothing concrete about it. He didn't have to.

So, you had to miss out on Limbaugh's response to the much larger "amnesty push" in 2007 (McCain-Kennedy). And that one was defeated -- in large part -- due to the efforts of Limbaugh (and Levin and Hannity).

But you missed that...

You love him. You listen to him.

Anyone who’s ever been a member of CFR is suspect to me.

If you don’t remember the amnesty push in ‘04 I can’t help you. There was a HUGE purge on this board of ‘traitor racists’ who didn’t support Bush in his endeavors.

Amnesty matters not now. We have defacto amnesty. The illegal’s anchor babies turn 18 with full voting rights. They’re doing that by the thousands, every single day.

Amnesty would just speed up the inevitable.

The avalanche has begun, the pebbles no longer have a vote.

What would folks do if a doctor told them that he and his staff had created a deadly cancer and inserted it in the population and the indication is that it will ruin the lives of millions of people. Then, have the doctor say that he knows how to eradicate this cancer he created, but it would be inconvenient and unrealistic for him and his staff to do so.

This is the same principle. The government created the cancer of Obama Care and knows how damaging it will be. They know how to cut it out before it creates the massive damage everyone knows it will do. Yet they tell us it isn't realistic to excise it.

You're right Jim - we need FREE Republic more than ever.

“Ha! Ted Cruz - talks a good game but what is he doing?”

From your own words, appears you are ignorant of what the TX junior Senator is doing.

Fine by me, I’m not working on your ignorance for you. Only you can do that.

Clearly you don’t want to.
