Smarts dont always equate to common sense. In the case of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), there is an inverse relationship between the two. Im told by smart lawyers that he has a sharp legal mind, can think on his feet and has remarkable recall for facts, cases and even page numbers of the briefs. But his political judgment has become distorted by ambition.
Interestingly, he no longer is touting the line that Republicans unwilling to join the suicide squad own Obamacare. Perhaps someone told him that among the obnoxious and untrue things he has said, this ranks at the top and will put him crosswise with a majority of those GOP senatorial candidates running in 2014.
A Cruz presidential run into 2016 would be interesting, if not downright amusing. An early rebuke in his young career might be a beneficial dose of cold water or devastating to a pol who, even among senators, is excessively convinced of his own exceptionalism.
Cruz is not the guy to build the party or a governing majority (which requires moderate Republicans). But he is just the person to build up Ted Cruz. In fact, he is masterful.

You know what I dislike about you lot?
Yall are looking for reasons to shut down the best most electrifying person we have seen in ages, BEFORE he even announces, and you what to beat him on Obamas sins.
I’m not much interested in “getting started” down the path of wasting my time and acting in opposition to my interests in propagating the false idea that Ted Cruz is not eligible to be President. Thanks though.
“FWIW - my first posts on FR concerned Obamas ineligibility.”
Great, why not stick to that instead of trying to eat your own. Obama is the reason for the propagation of this kooky legal theory, such a shame so many are targeting a conservative Republican with it so they can pat themselves on the back for applying equally to both sides. Do you think the left respects that? They are laughing at you.
It links back to my post.
What is noticeable is that I have cited specific statutes while others have offered opinion.
What is noticeable is that what others claim are lies are easily shown to be truth - with a link to back it up.
What is noticeable is that others have a great deal of emotion and offer no facts.
I’m looking to not waste time on an ineligible person.
SOP re: comments; note that he is from Chicago....
Yeah no kidding - it’s where you claimed it was a lie that Rafael Cruz was a “compatriot” of Castro.
My god these leftists never change the script. Ever.
I take that you believe there was never any feelings for Castro by Cruz’s father. That the father became disenchanted with Castro later in life after he returned to Cuba does not clean the slate for the time of Cruz’s birth in Canada. I try very much not to tell lies or live by them especially in FR exchanges.
More blather, no substance.
You were too lazy or disinterested to look up the law, so I gave you specific cites. And all you do is continue with blather.
Yeah I’m probably feeding the trolls here, giving them what they want by engaging (operating as if they are not trolls) rather than mocking and ignoring.
I know there are some freepers in good standing mixed in with that group though, unfortunately.
What Is noticeable is your insanity!
I’d get that fixed first!
Work on Constitutional Law after finger painting and group therapy.
“Cruz, like Obama, like people born to American Citizens abroad, ALL THE TIME, is a natural born citizen as he never went through a Naturalization Process as the virtue of birth bestowed citizenship upon him.”
Based on what specific law?
Thank you.
And I have said from the beginning that Ted does not have Potomac Fever “Yet”.
This Rubin article tries to diagnose him with Potomac Fever and a bad case of being a Greenhorn.
Then we get the Noobs declaring he is not eligible or that he is some kinda secret Commie.
He is rattling all the right cages.
He is very promising.
why are there no court cases, no new statutes? No birther-allies? Which of the 50 states uses your NBC definition in its elections laws for ballot access? ZERO.
ZERO-BIRTHING.
Which state even uses natural law in its legal system?
Natural law???? I cited a specific US statute.
Yeah I’m thinking I was naive to consider that idea that you might not be a troll, newb. I just don’t want to accuse a freeper in good standing who just happens to be wrong.
Your trolling will not be tolerated when the race gets underway, you are wasting your time.
Cruz wiped the Canadian slate clean.
Have you not read the news?, and he never declared himself a Canadian citizen.
It’s time JimRob laid down the law with these anti-Cruz trolls and sends them on the ZOT train.
in any event, when Ray tries to become a Team Captain in Iowa for Christie for President, he has plenty to put on his resume now.
