Frustrated Obama: I won't be ‘paralyzed’ on Syria

Olivier Knox, Yahoo! News 1 hour ago PoliticsBarack ObamaSyriaJohn KerryChemical weapon

President Barack Obama vowed Friday to undertake a “limited, narrow” response to Syria’s alleged chemical weapons attack and warned he would not be “paralyzed” by his desire to rally elusive international support.

Obama’s remarks came after Secretary of State John Kerry laid out the most detailed U.S. case yet that Bashar Assad’s regime massacred more than 1,400 people last week with chemical weapons.

“We are looking at the possibility of a limited, narrow act,” the president said as he hosted Baltic leaders in the Cabinet Room of the White House.

“I have not made any decisions” about Washington’s precise response, he said, but “we’re not considering any open-ended commitment” or sending troops into Syria.

"Hell, Congress, European Coalitions who needs them when your KING OF THE WORLD."

I guess this time its not so good to be the "KING OF THE WORLD".

Every time the British say it tea time, B.O. grabs his clubs and heads for the course.

Wonder if he will scale back tee time while we are in a perilous situation.

I'm on Hussein's golf watch. Every time he golfs, I drink something or another.

I have to give Cameron credit for listening to Parliament.

I still won’t vote for him because of the gay marriage crap, but he has poked Bambi in the eye on this one.

[Mister Obama]… stressed that “this kind of attack threatens our national security interests by violating well-established international norms against the use of chemical weapons by further threatening friends and allies of ours in the region, like Israel and Turkey and Jordan, and it increases the risk that chemical weapons will be used in the future and fall into the hands of terrorists who might use them against us.”

However (and more likely), from the WSJ a few days earlier...So what is the purpose of a U.S. attack? Mr. Carney ... added that the U.S. had a national security interest that Assad's use of chemical weapons "not go unanswered." This is another way of saying that the attacks are primarily about making a political statement, and vindicating President Obama's ill-considered promise of "consequences," rather than materially degrading Assad's ability to continue to wage war against his own people.

May I recommend a NAME for this potential operation?

Perhaps you recall the successful "Shock and Awe" from Dubya.

Well, for this operation, I suggest...

... OPERATION STRUT AND BLUSTER!

And, all humor aside, the big worry to this observer is not what it will or will not accomplish, my worry the wholly unnecessary reprisals that it might provoke. And, if reprisals are taken by the bad guys and/or their evil buddies, then the stakes become instantly elevated and the chance for facing a forced choice between either escalation or humiliation becomes greater. Dubya had, and has, a much greater wisdom on such critical matters.

BTW, as a proud Dad of a one currently serving, I sincerely, sincerely hope that (if actions are taken) no Americans are injured.

Mr. Obama will have some warehouses blown up in the middle of the night when fewer people are there and will say THAT is where the chemicals came from.
That will IMO be the limited response or at least a good part of it.

Impeached sounds better than paralyzed. Impeach and ground him from further exercise of the office until the Senate finishes the trial.

He just doesn’t know how it works.

He thinks the prez gets in there, ignores the constitution, does whatever he wants to do with the military including treating them like a private mercenary force

It’s how he does the high living thing. He thinks he can take 4 or 5 multi million $ vacations every year with other people’s money. This is how he thinks wealthy people live

But now he ‘s finding out that it just doesn’t ‘t work that way. There’s push back, denial, and there are anticipated consequences

That’s how I see his behavior

Benghazi. They have no respect for him

So here’s the Obama doctrine in two simple examples:

1. If a Middle East dictator massacres 1,400 innocent civilians during a war against AL QUEADA ALIGNED REBELS, he deserves to be “punished” with cruise missile strikes.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2013/08/26/obama-wants-to-punish-assad-not-win-the-syrian-civil-war/

2. If an al Queada terrorist massacres 3,000 AMERICANS during an al Quaeda war against the UNITED STATES, he deserves a civilian trial in a Manhattan courtroom, the full protection of the US Constitution, and presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.

Priorities. Priorities.

We might do sumpin'...though I'm not saying we gonna to do sumpin', but if we do do sumpin' that sumpin' may or not be sumpin'...and I haven't made any decision on that sumpin' but if I did, that sumpin' could be a narrow sumpin', uh like a limited sumpin' if you folks follow me here.......

In other words, if you're a night watchman at a Syrian aspirin factory or baby formula plant, it would be best to call in sick for a few days.

"Rendered impotent" might be more accurate. (Although the only ones that might be a surprise to are the Obamanistas and their sycophants in the mainstream media.)
