Full Title: A semiautomatic rifle that 'sprays like a fire hose' has slipped through legal loopholes even though machine guns are illegal
A semiautomatic rifle that mimics the rapid fire of a machine gun is about to hit the shelves.
The SFS BFR, made by Texas company, Slide Fire, is fed bullets from a belt, which gives it the potential to have thousands of rounds of ammunition.
The weapon will be available this autumn and will sell for $6,000, according to Brandon Renner, the sales and marketing manager for Slide Fire.
He said the gun sprays like a fire hose.
We recommend no more than 30 rounds on the belt, but one person could make it as big as they want.

Good old American ingenuity.
Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.
Guns kill people, pencils misspell words, cars drive drunk & spoons make you fat.
(My old tagger)
$6,000? That sounds crazy. My understanding is that this was released recently as a buttstock upgrade to any AR or AK and is not that expensive.
Ah, so the stock I was thinking of is the same company, but it’s only $400 ish.
And Lucky Charms are "magically delicious". /sarc
My local FFL has the Slide-Fire unit for $375, installed. But not belt-fed AR-15s... I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before.
I’m as big a fan as any normal person of a lead hose hand held weapon. However, if you are in a defensive situation that calls for that much lead downrange, you should consider truck mounted chain fed weapons and grenade launchers instead. If the race war starts or the EBT system is down for long, these may come in handy on the urban borders.

You've just got to love American ingenuity, determination, and exceptionalism.
I imagine putting more than a couple dozen rounds through without pause would really heat that sucker up.
If you think $6 grand is expensive, wait until you find out how much you spend on 5.56 ammo when you spray it like a fire hose.
Machine guns are legal for civilians in about 35 states. (They are expensive since no new ones have been introduced to the civilian marketplace since May 1986, they require a pile of Federal paperwork, and they use lots of expensive ammunition. But machine guns are still legal.)
As for this gizmo -- I doubt an AR equipped with it is nearly as accurate as an M16.
Done had that figured out for quite a spell now, LOL.
Even being tight with my .22LR for practice now.
One thing to consider though, is a "belt" considered an illegal magazine under the laws of certain of our more backward states or is it just possible that the good folks at Slide Fire really have found a dandy new loophole?
I am trying to imagine holding and firing a rifle with a belt in the shouldered position for firing a rifle
Actually, Lucky Charms are delicious, I don’t know about “magically” but I like’m.
And what percentage of us can afford such exotic weapons in Obama's economy? That's pie in the sky for most working folks.
It's $6,000 not because of the $300 bumpfire stock. It's because of the expensive belt feed upper on the semi-auto AR lower. Probably an Ares or similer unit.
