You stated:His father has a very murky past and has floated several different versions of it, none of which bear up under scrutiny.

I was trying to get you to divulge where you got that information, and what information you have.

Cruz is in the same boat that Obummer is in. If you love him, he is eligile. If you hate him, he is not.

No, he is not even sailing in the same waters as Obama let alone in the same boat.

“And since it’s a slam dunk given, their definition derived, so they say, from “natural law” is open to question and to be assumed spurious.”

It’s like when a liberal claims some stupid idea is “common sense”, yet, it is neither common in usage or sensible. Natural law is something no human can disagree as it is natural and not subject to human interpretation, yet, these guys want to claim things as “natural law” as though to shut down any debate of it and claim it cannot be changed; however, it is open to human interpretation so it cannot possibly be natural law.

As I have said, natural law is something like gravity. Can’t argue about that.

“LOL! ‘It doesn’t exist because I say it doesn’t’ is a pretty sad argument.”

I tell you what, next time you are in court try claiming ‘natural law’ to a judge and see just how far that gets you, ok? Contempt citation at the least.

Obama got away with exactly that. But he was able to sustain the fiction that he was born here

As a birther I ask, What fiction? There is no evidence that Obama was born anywhere. Period. He locked up his documents and then forged new ones to post on the White House website. If he is not impeached, George Soros is eligible.

“LOL! The Founders have got to be spinning like tops by now.”

The founders wrote the Constitution and the 1790 immigration law. Try reading that sometime and get back to us. it’s a whole paragraph or two. Nothing major. But in it they spell out just who is a natural born citizen. So, I doubt they are laughing. Instead, they are weeping at the stupidity and ignorance Americans show today.

“belittling a thought?”

Those that speak and respond to facts by showing effort to read the facts and then discuss their findings is intelligence and worthy of discussion. Those that simply have made up their minds, ignore facts, excuse ignorance, and show stupidity deserve scorn and lots of it. That describes the trolls here. We have presented the proper and pertinent facts only to have them not read, ignored, and continued statements of the absurd, and that is why the scorn and disrespect. I cannot respect an ignorant idiot that refuses to learn and argues from disputed “facts”.

“That’s so strange, because I live in NY where people who actually know me criticize me for being a right wing extremist.”

We call such people a “Ney York Conservative”, someone a hair to the right of their extreme left-wing friends so think they are conservative, yet, they are still far left-wingers.

See my post #226: Post 226. I cite the entire law including that passage that defines a natural born citizen. The trolls didn't read it. Lazy trolls. I give it to them on a FR platter and they still cannot read it.

P.S. xzins even pointed out that the writer of the Constitution, including Washington himself, wrote that definition. Still, nothing from the trolls about it.

The founders wrote the Constitution and the 1790 immigration law.

That's right, they did. It was to conform with the grandfather clause in the Constitution, that's why they repealed it 5 years later and changed the 'natural born' language to read citizen of the United States.

Had they meant for the concept of natural born citizens being born in a foreign country to operate in perpetuity, they would not have changed it.

---

And I have read it, so the smarmy 'Try reading that sometime' comment was rather unnecessary.

It has never been determined definitively by a court whether a person who acquired U.S. citizenship by birth abroad to U.S. citizens is a natural born citizen within the meaning of Article II of the Constitution and, therefore, eligible for the Presidency.

All that really says is that natural born citizen has not been defined by a court. That's reasonable, actually. The Constitution gave Congress, not the courts, the power to define it when it gave Congress the power to establish a uniform rule of naturalization and to make all laws necessary to implement their rules.

Congress decided that some had to be naturalized and that others didn't. If you don't have to be naturalized then you are a citizen at birth, as the FAM says the overseas children are.
