Also note, at the time of the writing of the Constitution, it was perfectly acceptable for private vessels to have their own cannon for fear of piracy. You could have a cannon on your farm if you wanted.

It's good this happened in Austin, the white guilt liberals are the enablers for this type of behavior.

You’ve, We have, all ways been on our own. The Police have never protected me. How about you? I would prefer that they not even know I’m alive. I have enough problems already without a bunch of jack booted thugs showing up.
I wish there were some way to “opt out” of Police “protection”. But they are kinda like the Mafia. Youse just pay and don’t ask any questions.
BTW again. When was the last time anyone here was actually “protected”, I mean saved from harm, by the Police?
