The Mormon church stands to own nearly 2 percent of Florida by completing a deal to buy most of the real estate of the St. Joe Co. for more than a half-billion dollars.

The megapurchase was announced jointly Thursday by a corporate representative of church, which owns the nearly 295,000-acre Deseret Ranches in Central Florida, and by the real-estate and timber business, which has built several communities along the Panhandle coast.

Our retirement home is in one of the counties where the Mormon affiliate bought real estate. My wife and I welcome them.

No; but I know how GREEDY selling ‘food for the hungry’ for PROFIT sounds!

Admit it, you are a democrat operative. If you’re not, your argument certainly is.

That’s not what I said, and it’s not what AgReserves does.

AgReserves is part of a large charity organization that not only feeds the hungry, but gives millions (over 1 billion since ‘85) in financial aid to suffering people and countries worldwide. It is part of the overall mission of the LDS church, and as such shares in its umbrella of management.

The church operates on principles of self sufficiency, not only for it’s people, but also for it’s entities and operations.

If 100 percent of everything AgReserves produced was given away, there would be nothing to perpetuate and continue its purpose, and its charitable giving would be indeed short lived. While it does feed millions, it also lives to feed millions another day.

But I suspect you already knew that.

If not, I encourage you to write a check to Obama for 100 percent of your income this year. You won’t need to pay the mortgage next year, Obama will take care of it for you.

Oh??

Someone ELSE using your computer??

Ok, I’ll respond to this one. AgReserves is a separate entity, for profit venture, run by a Church subsidiary, but since a huge part of it’s mission is to provide beef and agricultural products for the worldwide Church welfare system, it makes a whole lot of sense that some welfare or service volunteer efforts help accommodate that.

Admit it; you have short term (maybe LONG as well) memory loss.

HMMMmmm...

28 years into 1,000,000,000 equals 35.7 million a year.

I wonder how much PROFIT has to be made to sustain that level.

If AgR has a "TR" then they'd have to have at LEAST 357 million PROFIT a year, for 10% is what a 'worthy' MORMON gives his bishop each year.

Do YOU have a TR??

Yummy; ain't they!

Here are a few examples of MORMON fruit:

Book of Mormon:

Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he answered, No. (Alma 11:28-29)

...and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil. (Alma 11:44)

...doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Nephi 31:21)

...praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. (Mormon 7:7)

...power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son--And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth. And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, (Mosiah 15:3-5)

...of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. (Ether 2:8)

Doctrine and Covenants:

According to that which was ordained in the midst of the Council of the Eternal God of all other gods before this world was, that should be reserved unto the finishing and the end thereof, when every man shall enter into his eternal presence and into his immortal rest. (Section 121:32)

And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife, and make a covenant with her for time and for all eternity, if that covenant is not by me or by my word, which is my law, and is not sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, through him whom I have anointed and appointed unto this power, then it is not valid neither of force when they are out of the world, because they are not joined by me, saith the Lord, neither by my word; when they are out of the world it cannot be received there, because the angels and the gods are appointed there, by whom they cannot pass; they cannot, therefore, inherit my glory; for my house is a house of order, saith the Lord God. And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood; and it shall be said unto them--Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, all heights and depths--then shall it be written in the Lamb's Book of Life, that he shall commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, and if ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever. Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them. (Section 132:18-20)

Abraham received concubines, and they bore him children; and it was accounted unto him for righteousness, because they were given unto him, and he abode in my law; as Isaac also and Jacob did none other things than that which they were commanded; and because they did none other things than that which they were commanded, they have entered into their exaltation, according to the promises, and sit upon thrones, and are not angels but are gods. (Section 132:37)

Joseph Smith, Jr.’s statement that he was ”the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam.” was made on Sunday, May 26, 1844.

It’s found in the History of the Church Vol. 6, p. 408-412.

By Mary 26, 1844, the 'church' had alREADY split into..

the Pure Church of Christ (1831),
the Independent Church (1832),
the Church of Christ (Boothite) (1836),
the Church of Christ (Parrishite) (1837),
the Alston Church (1839),
the Church of Christ (Chubbyite) (late 1830s),
the Church of Jesus Christ, the Bride, the Lamb’s Wife (1840),
and the Church of Christ (Pageite) (1842),

had already split from Joseph Smith’s Church (which was known as the Church of Christ from 1830 to 1834, the Church of the Latter Day Saints (no hyphen) from 1834 to 1838, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (no hyphen) until 1844).

I don’t understand how that is ‘keep[ing] a whole church together.”

Ironically, the May 26, 1844, is the speech Joseph Smith. Jr. gave after William Law testified before a grand jury that Smith was committing polygamy. Law also claimed that Smith had made several proposals to Law’s wife Jane, under the premise that Jane Law would enter a polyandrous marriage with Smith. In his May 25, 1844 speech, Smith also said “What a thing it is for a man to be accused of committing adultery, and having seven wives, when I can only find one.” At the time he claimed to have but one wife, Smith had at least 34 wives.

Of course, Law was excommunicated from the Church and eventually was a publisher of the Nauvoo Expositor, which publicly accused Smith of

(a) corrupting young women by coercing them into plural marriage,
(b) being a fallen prophet by engaging in polygamy, and
(c) desiring to establish a theocracy.

Smith’s order that the Nauvoo printing press be destroyed and the type be pied eventually led to his arrest and death in Carthage (the charge of treason against Smith was unrelated to destruction of the newspaper and arose from Smith declaring martial law and calling out his personal militia, the Nauvoo Legion).

Amazing. At the time he made that statement, a lot of sub-cults had already broken away. And he made that statement during the same speech when he lied about having more than one wife - the speech that set William Law on his course to publishing the Nauvoo Expositor . . . and Smith on his course to his death, firing that pepperbox pistol and killing two

I am not basing MY salvation on what some conniving con man of the 1800's managed to foist upon the world.

There is no ‘f’ in prophet.

Said Yost, “There is no ‘f’ in ‘Prophet’.”

The Board of Directors for Postmormon.org sat stunned for a moment, glancing at one another in disbelief. Finally, speaking on behalf of Postmormon.org, Jeff Ricks sought to clarify the Church’s position.

“Are we to understand that the Church’s official position is that there is ‘no effin’ Prophet’?”

“That is correct, obviously,” said Yost. “There never has been, and never will be.”

Got THAT right, LOL.

Thousands of Americans are out of work and in need. The Mormon church has 565 million dollars from exempt tithing revenue to tie up the water resources and developable land, with profit$ in mind.

Word is they finally found the 38 walled cities mentioned in the Book of Mormon ... and more gold plates written in reformed Egyptian ... and fossils of sheep, cattle, goats, swine, horses, asses and elephants raised by pre-Columbian Indians ... and brass foundries ... and submarine barges ... and chariots ... and forged steel swords ... and cement teepees!

So who can blame the Saints if they want to drop some chump change to shut up evil anti's such as you guys once and for all?
