It is a “to the extent that” kind of thing. To the extent that you have been victorious in asserting righteousness, then assist someone who has failed. If you honor God in your body (which goes beyond a natural state of affairs, it is supernatural), then by all means try to teach a homosexual how to do the same thing... otherwise just clam up, you can only make the situation worse.

Matthew 7:3

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Yep, she was the head of that local order eventually PLUS early on before the Priest BAKER cost 60 million to the church, my mom was writing letters and twice spoke personally to Cardinal Mahoney and it was IMO buried.

Used to have copies from the late 70s and 80s that she wrote to the Church and wouldn't every reporter in existence love to have them.

She was active in three churches as well. God bless her heart, very charitable in a good way with her time.

How did the folks grift? Did you see it or did you hear gossip? Let’s be open minded, but be honest too.

I certainly appreciate your honesty about where you were and where God has brought you - by HIS grace - not by our own works. And, while many on here lash out at the homosexuals, and those who commit abortion - they are knee deep in their own sins. Gluttony is also a sin, according to the Bible. We are all sinners saved by grace - not by works - lest any man boast. All of our righteousness is as filthy rags -

The Bible lumps adultery and fornication right in the same verse as homosexuality. Yes, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their homosexual sis, but, if you read the NT, and especially in the book of Corinthians - you will find that there were homosexuals who accepted Christ and turned from their sexual sins. Paul addresses them specifically. God will turn them over to a reprobate mind if they refuse to repent of their sin, and they will continue to burn with lust for each other.

But, regardless of the judgmental attitudes of so many on here - Jesus died for ALL - and that includes the homosexuals, adulterers, etc. As hard as it is to imagine - He loves them as much as HE loved us when we were floundering around in our sin-soaked ways. He did not LOVE our sins, however.

I mentioned Tammy Faye because she was thrown into this thread, and I responded.

God isn’t against people having money - he is against the LOVE of money - because that is the root of all evil - the love of it. Most of the patriarchs in the OT were very wealthy - and God used them mightily and blessed them. So many believe that Christians are to walk around in rags and worship in store-front buildings to prove their Christianity. Even Paul said that at times he had an abundance - and at other times he lacked -

You can quote scripture until you’re blue in the face for all I care. When I look at my assets I’m not finding his and hers mansions in three different states, two jet aircraft, a $100,000 mobile home for my dog, and 800 million in cash like this so-called servant of the lord. Somehow something about getting a camel through the eye of a needle comes to mind. And so I don’t forget, did I mention the $400,000 plus the good Reverend Crouch paid to keep his homosexual lover’s mouth shut? (so to speak)

I’ve got him on my iPad and “ride the Bible bus”, too ... :-)

He’s gone home to be with The Lord now (for those who don’t know), but his “Bible bus” keeps running down the road!

Thank you and it’s nice to hear that, especially when I get all those other posters (over the years) telling me how “whacked” I am, as a Christian ... :-) ...

There is a very dark side to Paul and Jan Crouch and the way they operate. I would never make a judgment regarding his soul, but what he did here on Earth requires a very close look.

Just because you can build something big doesn't make it godly.

Benny Hinn has been raking in millions, but he is a snake-oil salesman of the highest order. The same with Robert Tilton, Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen and Oprah Winfrey. Godless hucksters all of them.

It’s attitude, attitude, attitude that counts. We take a pithy remark of Jesus and stretch it weirdly, instead of looking to the whole of scripture to get the point.

I could digress a little. I admired Pablo Picasso for his alleged statement that “I should like to live as a poor man with a great deal of money.”

Now THAT is the right attitude, if you have the circumstances to give you that “great deal of money.” Be rich towards God, not towards the “flesh” — the selfish self, the self that flaunts itself against God.

I believe that every denomination has some erroneous teachings that will one day be corrected by the Lord - not on this earth. I hear things that I know are not scriptural from many of the denominations - some will only go so far in their teachings and pick and choose what they believe. Either the entire Word is God’s Word or He is a liar. Some explain or try to explain things away they don’t agree with.

But, yes, we are to discern what others teach, and to look at Scripture in light of other Scriptures - thus, one isn’t taken out of context.

If a gospel of salvation gets out, it isn’t in vain. If they have other doctrinal troubles, well then they fell short. But God can use a mixture of gold and garbage in a plan to bless. We have responsibilities too. Preachers are not expected in this world to perpetually be spoon feeders of chemically pure Enfamil. And I long ago stopped expecting that and as a result was really able to grow. “Test everything; hold on to the good; reject all forms of evil.”

Oh brother... I'm not getting into that with you here. Let's save it for the 1,000 post threads in the Religion forum where everyone yells and screams at each other, and where a reasonable discussion is rarely to be found.
