Wealthy families across the country are shelling out millions to protect their loved ones from intruders, natural disasters or the apocalypse as home security goes increasingly sci-fi.

Companies that provide concerned homeowners with futuristic gadgets - and a priceless peace of mind - have revealed the growing demand of costly bunkers, passageways, panic rooms and recognition software.

Chris Pollack - president of Pollack+Partners, a design and construction adviser in Purchase, New York - told Forbes that, while security has always been important for the wealthiest clients, the spending on home security has noticeably grown in the past five years.

And the options available on the market are like something from a Bond film....

Sure they can. Get that steel-cocoon bunker hot enough, they can’t help but cook.

Never forget that the BTK killer was also the guy who installed the security systems ;-)

I have actually built and installed hidden entry/access points in some multimillion dollar “cabins” but just from the cabinetry end.

When I asked my boss “I wonder how many cans of Beenee Weenies you could fit in there ?” He told me “THESE PEOPLE DON’T EAT BEENEE WEENIES!!!!!!”

(oops, my bad)

LOLOL

(spit)

Enquiring minds want to know.

And when the billionaires emerge...they will have no idea how to react with the process of life.

They can't cook...they can't hunt...they can't clean and eat (neither can I, but then I am not a billionaire).

I plan to kill and eat billionaires...they will be plentiful, fat...and easy to kill.

Need some of that VeriVeriTeriyaki Sauce though.

I'll take a slice of Soros with a nice Chianti and some Fava beans.

I’d imagine soros would be very greasy, cause heartburn, and a nasty case of gas.

It seems to me that going entirely into protective mode is somewhat defeating, unless you have an offensive mode as well. That is, if you are buttoned up in your safe place, the “bad guyz” are still mucking about in your castle.

So why not set up some means by which you can neutralize them by remote control? Assuming you have inside security cameras that cannot be easily interfered with, why not use them as aiming devices for electronically fired weapons?

If you wanted some wit, you could have them fire Amped-up green light lasers, that in a second could leave a painful, but soundless, quarter sized burn on exposed skin. Quite distracting.

Good for them. But hiding in a bunker is a short term solution to a long term problem.

Trust me, you don’t need to be a billionaire for much of this. Last winter I built a way of securely hiding my guns when I am not at home. A person would have to live in my house for at least 6 months to find them. Most of the materials that I used were repurposed lumber from my stock in the barn. I might have spent $20.

I plan to change a wall and door that will turn my bedroom into a “safe room”. Anyone not familiar with the interior of my house will never know that it even exists. I don’t really need this, but it seems like it could be a fun project….and it might help my wife after I am gone.

Sounds great. Now I suggest you read something on intelligence security, specifically concerning posting top secret SHTF plans on the internet. Oh, you're using a screen name. Yep, that'll work.
