Meet The Mandela RINOs: Republicans Who Lost Their R-Card For Praising Mandela
TPMDC ^ | TPM | Tom Kludt

Republican politicians have tried to pay homage on Facebook to the late Nelson Mandela since his death on Thursday, but many of their conservative supporters want to hear none of it.

Peruse through comment sections of the GOP's Facebook tributes to Mandela, and there's a good chance you'll find plenty of vitriol for the former South African president and for the politicians who praised him.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) wrote that Mandela "will live in history as an inspiration for defenders of liberty around the globe." One commenter took a different view of the anti-apartheid leader's legacy, urging "all you Mandela lovers head on over to South Africa and see what's going on now that 'Mandela's people' have control of the nation."

As Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) sees it, Mandela "showed South Africans and the entire world what the power of forgiveness truly means and can accomplish." It's unclear if some of Rubio's disappointed supporters will be similarly forgiving of the senator.

One woman found it "sad" that Rubio, a son of Cuban immigrants, showed such reverence given that the GOP senator's family "fled the very things that mandela (sic) stood for." After seeing the tribute, another woman said Rubio had lost her vote.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) wrote that the "world has lost an exceptional leader who made the world a better place." But some commenters cried foul at the "revisionist history" of Mandela. Another expressed relief that "Mass Murderer Mandela is finally dead."

Personally, I see no point in praising murders, communist and terrorist.........
just because they are BLACK doesn’t make them special

All due to the RNC’s recent sensitivity training. Idiots.

Mandela was an abortionist. It's consistent with his character as a genocidal, murdering maniac. As if that weren't enough, this evil commie creature, a hero of leftists everywhere, was onboard with the homosexual agenda, appointing a brazen, outspoken sodomite to the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg.

It’s the illusion that all humans are intelligent. Not in the least. The average IQ of a human being is that of a dolphin.

I don’t really see the point of getting all upset over it. I’ll leave the perpetual outrage to the liberals.

Actually, they can keep their R-cards for all I care. I only vote for conservative candidates, not for someone just because they have an R after their name.

To: LonelyCon; a fool in paradise

Conservatives have been so intimidated by the Leftist mainstream that they can no longer stay silent when they should, or of course speak the truth. “shades of grey”, “mixed feelings”, we read on this forum regarding Mandela, “Revolutionary who turned into Vaclav Havel of Africa” says today’s WSJ. Pardon? Vaclav Havel was never an admirer of Stalin. “apartheid was evil”, again on this forum, as an excuse, I suppose, for the greater evil of today’s South Africa and Zimbabwe. Was it more evil than today’s rules in Saudi Arabia, Singapore or a dozen of other countries about which we never read, because there is no Soviet Union today to fund the worldwide campaign against them as it did against South Africa and Rhodesia back then?

If apartheid had been as evil as Senor Mandela’s own political party, he would have been executed on the spot the first time his butt was arrested.

Orange may be the new black, folks, while Third World savagery is the new normal.

/end rant/

Amen, amen.

I would've preferred that my Sen Cruz had kept quiet on Mandela's passing....like Sarah has.

Rick Santorum compared Mandela vs apartheid to the Republicans attempts to dismantle Obamacare.

The Left took on the fight against Apartheid as their counter to Reagan/Thatcher’s fight against Soviet expansionism.

It’s a small thing. I prefer them to stand up on issues that really matter. Nelson Mandella doesn’t.

glad many are not putting him on a pedistal. I have no admiration for him or his murderous wife that necklaced people. Thought I was the only one that said, Oh well, we all die sometime no big deal.

Looks like Bevin’s tribute to Mandela has been yanked from his FB page. Cruz’s is still up, and there was a bit of a liberal backlash to the conservative criticism—all consisting of fact-free name-calling.

Hmmm. The only thing I can say about that is that at least Santorum is using the left’s tactics, with this *comparison*. I don’t agree with the premise, but I’m okay with his strategy.
