Currently second in the league table of European economies, the UK is on course to overtake Germany in 2030.
The prediction, from the Centre for Economic and Business Research, is another boost for Chancellor George Osborne at the end of a year that saw Britain emerge from the doldrums with a rapidly accelerating recovery.
It suggests the country will benefit from staying outside the struggling eurozone but also warns that any break-up of the UK following the referendum on Scottish independence next year could severely damage economic growth.

Positive spin to the immigrant problem.
Never happen. As an economy England makes nothing. It is just a hub in the International Banking cartel axis, but they do not produce anything the way the Germans do.
In Germany everywhere you turn there’s a factory of some kind.
And although Germany has its problems, the younger generation of Brits are an abysmally lazy and unproductive lot, and their spirit is broken for anything beyond soccer.
I cannot see how anyone with a passing familiarity with both the German and British cultures can defend the idea that Britain is somehow overtaking Germany.

I’m English and I’m afraid I am forced to agree with you. I suppose it is possible for our economy to overtake the Germans, but much in the same way that a fire stoked with paper will burn brighter than one built of logs, for a short time. In the end there is very little substance behind the UK economy.

My Scots would be wise to ditch the UK once and for all. The problem is that Mohammedan savages have secured a shocking foothold there as well.
Compared to what ? Greece ? Italy ? then yes the UK would appear to be prospering.

Would an independent Scotland have the political will, the means, to block further muslim immigration, and to deport those already there, who commit crimes?
I would ask that question of every European land, where I believe the citizenry has already had enough of the problems muslims bring.
No, they wouldn’t, a solo Scotland would be a PC, uber-liberal country. Alex Salmond, the SNP leader and current Scottish First Minister, loves the idea of immigration in high numbers to Scotland.
I would point out, in fairness, that the Scottish Muslim community is a great one, and has never caused any problems, and is possibly one of the few in Europe that doesn’t have a problem with terrorism or extremism.
Thanks Berlin_Freeper. If this were not true, Sarkozy and Merkel wouldn’t have been so aggressive to subvert UK sovereignty a couple of years ago. With a 75 percent income tax in force in France, that economy will tank and drag a good chunk of (if not all of) Europe into the tank with it.
