The Worst Republican Senator (Lindsey Graham's sorry record)
spectator.org ^ | 5/15/08 | Quin Hillyer

South Carolina's Lindsey Graham is a flop. He pretends to be a conservative, but sells out conservatives and insults them while doing so. He pretends to be effective at reaching across party lines, but the only thing he effectively does is help the other party. He inhabits the Senate seat of Strom Thurmond, legendary for great attention to his South Carolina constituents, but Graham spends most of his time trailing behind John McCain like a valet as McCain criss-crosses the country in pursuit of the presidency. He called Ted Kennedy "one of the most principled men I've ever met." In sum, in the words of conservative movement stalwart Richard Viguerie, "Lindsey Graham is part of the problem."

What, for example, could possibly have possessed Graham, in April of 2006, to write an essay for Time magazine about the virtues of Hillary Clinton? He called her "a smart, prepared, serious senator." She is "sought out by her colleagues to form legislative partnerships." She has managed to "build unusual political alliances with...conservatives."

He praises liberals, but reserves particular venom for conservatives who disagree with him. The most infamous example came at a speech to the utterly radical Hispanic group La Raza -- it was bad enough that he spoke to them, much less what he said -- when he described what he would do to opponents of the awful immigration proposal he helped Ted Kennedy craft: "We're going to tell the bigots to shut up." The idea that only a bigot could oppose the Kennedy amnesty plan was a recurring theme with Graham: On This Week, he told George Stephanopoulos that opponents were like those in earlier years who put up signs that said "No Catholics, no Jews, no Irish need apply."

The Spectator apparently wanted to repost this, so I will as well, to recall Graham's treachery, which since 2008, has only increased. Immigration, Gun Control, liberal nominees, etc.

Re-posting is good. I can't ever get enough of Lindsay bashing.

Support Lee Bright to oust Lindsey Graham in SC

Graham is pretty bad. But considering his mentor Jaun McCain is still in office, it would be a stretch to call him the worst.

I think John and Lindsey would have gotten married by now, but McCain doesn’t want to lose Cindy’s beer money.

I want to bash MiniGraham, but he's such as tiny little target, he's easy to miss... especially since MiniGraham never stays still, swinging this way and that way... both ways... or is it one?

If you have a wart on your backside it's not accurate to consider it a separate person. Same with McCain and Graham - one arse, one wart, one identity. Thus, you could argue that the wart and its host are collectively the worst senator.

“Re-posting is good. I can’t ever get enough of Lindsay bashing.”

It’s also good to remember how Graham put holds on Bush’s nominees, while Obama was owed the courtesy of his nominees getting a vote, both in committee and on the floor. Elections have consequences, dontcha know, but the consequences to republican presidents are stone walls, while democrats are given an free and open road.

Lindsey doesn’t want us all to remember this stuff, however!

So Lindsay Graham is a FLOP, or did you mean to say ‘FOP’. Some would say that both words would apply.

Senator Stupid thinks THE PROCESS is the solution, and that politics can actually solve problems, even if you are doing it as a Republican.

Anytime he comes to any agree ment he probably thinks “See, the process works” no matter what the outcome... “We’re important people AND WE JUST MADE AN IMPORTANT DECISION TOGETHER- SEE HOW IMPORTANT WE ARE?”

graham and rubio told the national right to life that they will sponsor a late term abortion in the senate. mitch mcconell says he will a sponsor a national right to work bill but if they win their primaries.

I used to wonder what "secrets" the Dim smear machine had on him to turn him at strategic moments.

I don't consider them much of a mystery any more but apparently Lindsey still thinks they are.

I agree Lindsey Graham need to go, he a knife in our back playing for the enemy with our name.
Graham is so bad we would be better off with a Democrat in his seat. At least then the Democrat’s radicalism doesn’t get legitimacy from two phased traitors like Graham.

In this respect Graham is twice as bad a democrat.
