Total chaos: 1-3 inches of snow cripples metro Atlanta

The blizzard of '93 brought more snow than most Atlanta natives had ever seen or will see.

The floods of 2009 brought an unexpected rush of water that submerged interstates.

The winter storm of 2011 took an entire week away from the city.

But the Snow Jam of 2014 might be the single craziest weather day in Atlanta in a generation.

1-to-3 inches of snow, mixed in with an afternoon drive that still hasn't ended has brought Atlanta to its knees again.

“There are certain things we don’t have control over and one of those is the weather. This came rather unexpectedly," Governor Nathan Deal said. "The time frame in which it hit was a very short time frame. And I think we’re better prepared now than we were in 2011.”

Metro Atlanta interstates have been gridlocked since about 1 p.m. Tuesday. Commutes stretched 8-to-10 hours. And that's for those who actually got home.

Thousands have been stranded in their cars just sitting in the middle of the road.

***Some days we only got the potato skin.***

Reminds me of a classmate who stole another kid’s heavy lunch sack. Inside he found ....six hickory nuts and a hammer.

WRONG! Here in Alabama this morning, on Fox 6 in Bham, the weather guy was nearly in tears appologizing to everyone because he MISSED this. None of the Bham weather people predicted this mess in Alabama. We had 3-4 inches here in our county. ALL county roads are still closed this morning. Just a couple of the 4 lanes are moving from what we hear. This was not predicted in Alabama at all. Yesterday morning, I got up and saw on the weather channel.com that there were chances of a FEW flurries between 2 pm and 4 pm. The snow started in the morning and we had 2 inches by noon. So, no, it was not predicted.

When I am wrong I admit wrong I was wrong bout the children left in schools all night, news not reporting facts. Just in talking to teacher friends, I was way wrong. Sorry, that is not how I roll!

But this was forecast for days before it happened. Couldn’t the powers that be see what was coming?

Well. YOU were in Alabama. I WAS here in Georgia and I watched the weather the night before, and the morning the next day. They were predicting the snow. Thanks for telling me what you think I saw and heard.

No problem

The real problem is....If the kids are in school for ten minutes.....the schools get funds. If not....no money for you today.

Yes, ma'am...we hope to get back to Tennessee soil soon, so I can die and be buried in the shadow of the mountains.

Listening to GA governor presser. My takeaway is that a large swatch of the American people are spoiled and petulant children.
