I've had the DVD series for a while and just started watching it this week while working out daily on my elliptical.
Enjoying it immensely.
Yesterday I ordered the book on line, despite the fact that it was written by the late disgraced leftist Stephen Ambrose.

Guarnere received the Silver Star for combat during the Brecourt Manor Assault on D-Day, and was later decorated with two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts, making him one of only two Easy Company members (the other being Lynn Compton) to be awarded the Silver Star throughout the duration of the war while a member of Easy Company.

RIP. I’m glad he became a celebrity of sorts after BoB, even though the series does what they always do with people from Philadelphia: give them New York accents. Robert DeNiro in Silver Linings Playbook was another example.
