I read what you post to me, and this is the first effort to say anything or to respond to anything that I have posted to you, look at your posts on this this thread, adn read your girlish glee because you are under the impression that Texas is just like California, although you can’t explain why it isn’t, although the two states share the same immigration issues.

Actually I was working on three California political campaigns that year, two for pay and one for free.
Texas and California are very similar in demographics, and immigration, and exactly the same on percentage of Hispanics, yet Texas just elected the most right wing Senator in America, and owns the governor’s seat, and many think that Senator Cornyn should be replaced, not with a Barbara Boxer, but with another Ted Cruz.
While California is voting 37% Republican in Presidential elections, Texas is voting 57% republican.
Texas fights to educate, convert religiously, and educate it’s immigrants, something that the rino/libertarian Californian GOP, didn’t have an interest in.
California used to pride itself on being libertarian and more accepting of liberalism than Texas, you guys rolled over for the left, Texas fights the left, Texas has already proven that it is no mirror image of California.
We Texans were puzzled by California being so liberal, even 40 and 50 years ago, long before the immigration problems which are shared equally by the two states.
In a decade you will be able to name the Reps in Congress from CA on one hand.
Oops, that’s correct about Wilson (as he wasn’t up until ‘94... but it may be possible that he might’ve retired in order to run for President in ‘96... and again, we probably would’ve been stuck with Mike Huffington, who was using his fortune to try to buy offices).
I was thinking, back when Shirley Temple had died, about how the course of CA’s political history would have changed if she had beaten Pete McCloskey and got elected to Congress. Perhaps she would have gotten elected to the Senate in due course.
It’s possible, however there would’ve been 5 windows of opportunity after that 1967 special...
In 1968 (though Conservatives were behind Schools Chief Max Rafferty over liberal RINO incumbent Tom Kuchel, which Rafferty lost to Alan Cranston, and she’d have had to have declared almost immediately after winning the House seat).
In 1974 (when outgoing Gov. Reagan was initially going to run, but opted out when Watergate and polling data indicated he’d lose — and Temple Black would’ve come to the same conclusion, which left a desultory opponent for Cranston).
In 1976 (when the non-politician Sam Hayakawa pulled off an incredible upset over leftist moonbat Sen. John Tunney. Temple Black similarly probably could’ve done the same).
In 1980 (one of the big head-scratchers, since Cranston should’ve been a loser that year, and instead of running a first tier candidate, the GOP ran the elderly Paul Gann, who was even older than the equally elderly Paul Cranston, and Cranston polished him off. This would’ve been a good year for Shirley Temple Black).
Lastly, in 1982 (when Democrats controlled redistricting and shoved the GOP voting majority into a small amount of seats). This was when Hayakawa retired after one term and it ended up a battle royale between 4 players, Maureen Reagan (pro-abort social liberal), San Diego Mayor Pete Wilson (”moderate”), and the remaining 2, both Congressmen of whom had their seats eliminated, Pete McCloskey (running as the far-left candidate) and Barry Goldwater, Jr. (the Conservative). That would not have been a good opportunity for Temple Black with all those running. We’d have been better off, obviously, had Goldwater gotten the nomination (and gone on to defeat Jerry Brown). He’d have probably held the seat for the next 18 years (unless he went the route of Wilson, to the Governor’s office).
