The most powerful Republican in America has vowed to crush the Tea Party
At age 72, U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who survived polio as a child, may look frail. But the minority leader in the Senate, and arguably the most powerful Republican in America, has rushed head-first into a bloody battle against big-money conservative groups that have been bankrolling the Tea Party movement. More specifically, he has vowed to crush them.
To be fair, they started it.
National groups such as the Senate Conservatives Fund and FreedomWorks are propping up a little-known Tea Party challenger to McConnell in Kentuckys primary election on May 20. The winner will be the Republican candidate in Novembers congressional electionjust when the party sees its best chance in years of taking majority control of the U.S. Senate, potentially making McConnell the majority leader.
National conservative activist groups are pouring money into McConnells ousterwhich would shake up the Republican establishment. If he loses in the primary, that would be a huge shot in the arm to the Tea Party. It would just be enormous. This would have ripples throughout the political system as more Republicans get worried about Tea Party challengers, said Elaine Kamarck, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank studying primary contests unfolding this spring and summer around the U.S.
Early polling shows McConnell with a leadbut primary votes are tricky to predict because they draw low voter turnout and are dominated by party activists. McConnell isnt helped by his dour, charisma-free persona. Hes too damn serious for a lot of Kentuckians, too urban, and has never been the cup of tea for about 30 per cent of the people in this state, says Al Cross, a long-time Kentucky political reporter

This writer doesn't know her history. Does she think the continual backstabbing would continue forever without some strike-back??
...and the horse McConnell rode in on.
. . . the most powerful Republican in America is a capon?
Gee, and I’ll bet he can’t figure out why he’s in the minority and we have a fascist in the White House.
About a month ago the RNC called looking for money. I told the guy to call me back WHEN Bohner and McConnell stopped bashing the TEA party and talking about amnesty.
After all that seat doesn't belong to the people. It belongs to Mitch McConnell.
I did pretty much the same thing and asked the caller to pass my comments up the chain. It’s going to take knocking a few of these McConnellMcCaniBohnerRinos off the gravy train before the GOPe gets the message.
(The event was organized by a number of progressive groups leading up to a possible vote on raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. It has made stops in several cities as it heads to Washington, D.C. later this week.)-Source
Please KY, dump this turd.
He looks very frail and weak. I saw video of him walking in the capital and he did not look well.
Doesn’t matter that Mitch may win — make him fight for it.
How can it not leave him bruised and limping? Even should he lose Bevin will still get a significant percentage of the vote. McConnell will then be trying to get these people to support him in the fall. The same people he vowed to crush. The same people he has disparaged for several years. I don't see how he can. They will likely stay home in the general.
Side by side faces; now, when I see one Mitch I think of the other. All he’s missing is a Bowler Hat or a Fisherman’s Hat.
The truth is he doesn’t want your vote...ever!! He wants a new base to support him. He is embarrased by the patriots of his state.
Yeah...well at least he was walking and not pushed in a wheelchair to make his last vote by saying ‘Aye” by blinking his eyes or waving his dong.

Shove it Chavez.
I mean Savage. Looked like Chavez when I glanced at the author.
I’m a KY resident. For 4 years I’ve had a “PRIMARY MITCH 2014” sticker on my car. I’ve written Mitch about one issue or the other, always ending with my request that he retire in 2014. My first beef was Mitch’s pushing of Senator Bunning into retirement (by threat of withholding campaign funding) because of Bunning’s 2010 filibuster of Unemployment benefit extensions UNLESS they are paid for by stimulus money. However, my biggest beef with Mitch is allowing ACA(Obamacare) get past the Senate. The Senate rules allow the minority the power to bottle up bad legislation (ACA).
Mitch made the political decision that ACA would not pass the House and didn’t use these Senate rules to block ACA and PROTECT the American people. So the Stupak 7 caves on the abortion issue, ACA passes House and signed into law.
Mitch made the political decision to do what was good for the party over protecting the American people from bad legislation (ACA).
So if Matt Bevin doesn’t win the primary, YES, I’ll vote for Grimes because Mitch made a grievous error in judgement regarding ACA and needs to go. DITCH MITCH
