The GOP is making a bold play for a U.S. Senate seat in reliably Democratic Oregon, where a Republican hasn’t been elected to a statewide office in more than a decade.

Republicans back in Washington think they’ve found the right candidate in Monica Wehby, a children’s brain surgeon who’s raised more than $1 million and put her early opposition to President Barack Obama’s health care law at the center of her campaign. […]

Wehby faces four other Republicans, most notably state Rep. Jason Conger of Bend, a lawyer who’s promoting his conservative credentials and his experience representing a district that, like the state as a whole, favors Democrats. …

Waiting to hear what Impy has to say about this. Actually I’m anxious to hear what Impy has to say about this race.

We need a Dr. Welby there, and her name is close enough.

Obviously a fire and brimstone Republican would be better, but that’s not an easy task in a state like Oregon. At the very least, she may well be able to force the Dems to supply money to what would normally be a no-brainer race.

The public employee unions manage to override everyone else and vote themselves a raise during the worst part of the recession.

That’s what we have to deal with here.

That makes me nervous...

But not surprising. From the story: "(Wehby) supports same-sex marriage and says the federal government shouldn't be involved in abortion, although she says she's personally opposed."

Sounds like the kind of candidate the establishment would love.

Republican candidate Dr Wehby garnering disapproval from the Planned Parenthood abortion cabal.

Planned Parenthood Blasts Dr Monica Wehby's Anti-Abortion Guest---Sen Tom Coburn
WILLAMETTE WEEK NEWS, March 13th, 2014, By AARON MESH

Dr. Monica Wehby, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, and a pediatric neurosurgeon, is catching ire for inviting an anti-abortion Senator (Coburn is a pro-life doctor) to speak at her Oregon fundraising events.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon demanded today that Wehby "sever ties" with U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma). "Monica Wehby should sever ties with Senator Coburn immediately and tell Oregon voters where she stands on women’s health," says Laura Terrill Patten, executive director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon.

"Does she agree with Senator Coburn that providers of safe and legal abortion should face the death penalty," Patten continues, "and that a survivor of rape should be forced to carry a pregnancy caused by her attacker?"

Wehby invited Coburn as a special guest to three fundraising events—including a $1,500-a-plate dinner in Portland.

Wehby is running in the Republican pimary for U.S. Senate, and is a leading contender to challenge Sen. Jeff "Keep your plan" Merkley (D-Oregon). ####

================================================

As far back as 2008, at the presidential debate in Nashville, Democrat candidate Obama advanced his signature healthcare plan---ultimately enacted, by an historic straight Democrat party-line vote, into the "Affordable Care Act"

QUOTING 2008 OBAMA: "No. 1, let me just repeat, if you’ve got a health care plan that you like, you can keep it. All I’m going to do is help you to lower the premiums on it. You’ll still have choice of doctor.”

Repeated over and over again---with Obama's promise that every American family would be saving $2500.00 on healthcare costs.

Significantly, Obamba NEVER corrected lock-stepping Democrats, all reading from the same Democrat talking points, all of them repeating the same Democrat promises---over and over again.

===================================================

LOCK-STEPPING PARTY LOYALTY NOT SEEN SINCE 1930-40's ERA EUROPE Obama And the Dems marched in lockstep.....the persistent Dumbocrat drumbeat ---- in obeisance to Obama ---- kept ringing reassuringly in our ears: "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."

QUOTING SEN. JEFF MERKLEY (D-Oreg): “[E]nsuring that those who like their insurance get to keep it” “The HELP Committee bill sets forward a historic Democrat plan that will, for the first time in American history, give every American access to affordable health coverage, reduce costs, and increase choice, while ensuring that those who like their insurance get to keep it.” (Sen. Merkley, Press Release, 7/15/09)

This is for the campaign. After that, she goes back to being a flip-flop Romney clone.

Yeah-—she is considered a RINO. We need to keep emphasizing her pro-life credentials -— as the way to super-glue her to them. Plus she is anti-Obamacare.

Bear in mind, the political ground keeps shifting as we type-—what w/ Obama’s numbers diving into oblivion and Democrats scared ****less about losing.

Amazingly the RNC filed suit against the IRS on behalf of targeted conservatives.

If Wehby wins, it will not be RINO business as usual.

She’s thinks the government should not regulate abortion. That’s pro-abortion. Who cares that a post-menopausal woman is “personally opposed” (other than God)?
