I don’t understand why Bundy felt compelled to make these comments. He had a lot of public support on his side. Didn’t it occur to him that he was handing his enemies the perfect weapon that could be used to destroy whatever credibility he had?

Bundy is not very sophisticated. Glen Beck was speaking about how he was distancing himself from he on his show this morning.

Actually, he probably didn’t. He is an old guy. I doubt this guy watches a lot of political TV or TV in general. He said what he said and although it was far from PC, he did have a little bit of a point.

That said, what he said will not help him when he needs it. His coverage is probably pretty well dead.

Unfortunately, the liberals will get lots of mileage out of this.

The liberals had already decided Bundy was the bad guy in the standoff with the government. This will be used for character assassination by the left and the media.

We live in a politically correct world now. You cannot say anything which can be construed as critical of officially recognized grievance groups, such as minorities or homosexuals. Otherwise, you will be targeted for destruction.

I’m not defending the comments, just stating that he will be vilified as racist and bigoted, and this will overshadow any details of the dispute with the government. Instead he will be dismissed as a bigot, and the media and leftists will say that anyone who agrees with him on anything is a bigot by association.

Bundy isn't stupid. He is arrogant if he thinks that he will outlast or outsmart the government.

He should have lawyered up LONG before this.

Well, maybe he is more than just arrogant, stupid.

The Duck Dynasty guy made similar comments after being prodded to do so.

Frankly, so have some black community leaders but they can get away with it in this politically correct cesspool called the media.

I actually find the comments somewhat refreshing...

The ones jumping on this against Bundy did not support his argument against the Federal Govt Abuse issue involved in the first place.

Its disgusting to see so=called conservatives supporting the left in attacking a man defending his constitutionally protected rights.

Nothing he said was racist, nor was it wrong, nor does it matter to the issue of Govt abuse.

How many times have we seen the professional microphones been thrust into the faces of the inexperienced, grass roots people in order garner comments that would ultimately be used against them?

Well I listened to him on the Alex Jones show, and he was very inarticulate, almost grating to listen to. And frankly he kept doing too many interviews.

He should not be a go-to for his opinions on everything under the sun for every talk show host looking for ratings.

The “perfect weapon” is one that was fashioned by the Alinskyites. First, create the politically correct vocabulary, in which the formerly respectable term of “Negro” is now racist, then when it is used by a political enemy, brand that enemy with the handiest tool you can grab. “Negro” is simply the Latin-based Spanish term for “black”, but even that has become a sort of “racist” word, by those who can find the prism to focus on every imagined slight that comes their way.

Cliven Bundy was not “compelled” to use the term “Negro”, it is a very descriptive word that has evolved into a very pejorative epithet in the current context. But if one has seldom heard “Negro” used in other contexts, except by hearsay through media whose aim is to inflame debate, such a speaker may discover that his use of language is to be constrained by hateful situations far away, and even made a criminal offense.

And the Orwellian “thoughtcrime” has come to fruition.

It really doesn’t matter what he said, the gubmint controlled media would have slammed him anyhow, it is what they do.

Bundy managed to step on his message and his crank at the same time.

I don’t understand why Bundy felt compelled to make these comments.

Perhaps because he is not a politician and therefore feels no need to be discrete lie to continue getting elected?

Would Dr. Carson, LTC Allen West, et al agree or disagree with Mr. Bundy? Perhaps someone should ask them.

They probably wouldn't use the non PC, and hence forbidden, words "Negros," or even "Colored People" (as in NAACP), and they would not likely suggest that slavery had any significant merits. But I'd bet that their views about the Democrat Plantation are not much different from Mr. Bundy's. Or mine.

Consider the source. Media Matters and the NYT?

My first thought is that the whole episode about Bundy's situation has been orchestrated to destroy dissent. I smell a rat.

Bundy’s not a media person. He probably ranches a lot more than he watches TV.

He’s being taken out of context. The entire explanation he’s giving is based on the danger of big government. He starts of with “we don’t want to go back”. He says it more than once.

Then in a concerned and humble tone he HYPOTHESIZES whether it’s better for blacks to be slaves or be bound to the government. Then, still speaking about how the government is injuring blacks, he mentions the break down of the family and jobs and violence issues that so many others have mentioned.

Now, it’s in context, except that he goes on to praise Mexicans as hard working, family oriented, deserving of citizenship.

That is not a racist. That is an untrained, complex man being honest with you about what he sees, and honest people put him in context.

And? Do you care about his enemies? Was he wrong? Why? Don't go into a knee-jerk defence mode, ask yourself why you are offended when someone is not PC. Are you PC? Then what are you doing here? If you are not PC, why are you posting this drivel? Think, man, think.
