Murray County Deputy Greg Morrison put his arm around the FULL TITLE: Officer has face mauled by police K9 when he tried to take selfie with it

AA Georgia deputy sheriff was rushed to the hospital Monday after a police bit his face, ripping open his chin and lip. Murray County Deputy Greg Morrison put his arm around the Malinois after a job well done in an attempt to take a selfie with his cell phone. But the professional pup was in no mood for camaraderie and proved it with a vicious snap at Morrison's chin. 'It’s an act of aggression to them whenever you do that,' Major Greg Fowler told the Dalton Daily Citizen, referring to Morrison's ill advised decision to wrap an arm around the dog.

If you’re tree enough, do they show their approval by peeing on you?

One of my baby Boas nailed me shortly after I got her.

Boas don't really have "body language" except for hissing and the infamous "S shape" neck position.

None of that would have helped anyway as she tagged me while I was holding her, with no warning.

Baby boas are pissy by nature. :)

I nearly died.

And this is the perp, Nancy.

Clicker training is useless...snakes got no ears...:D

Well, to be honest, I don’t like the leashes, either.

Camo, yeah.
Plain green, not so much.

:)

Might as well have dedicated it to me in the liner notes.

*Bizarrely*, “be a tree” is used when handling large ~constrictors~...mostly because they’re more calmer, feel safer and are more physically comfortable when being firmly supported by a relatively immobile object.

:)

Some dogs very much enjoy hugs.

I have two, who, if it were up them, I’d be cuddling them like babies, 24/7.

Odin likes them when he’s in the mood for them but has been lovingly conditioned to *accept* them *whenever* because you never know when you’ll need to examine your dog for injuries.

Case in point, Odin’s physical therapist has no problems working on his cervical vertebrae, which were injured by “veterinary professionals”.
She hangs over him from above, manipulates him from every direction imaginable, has her face right in his until she’s finished his session and he really enjoys her healing touch.
[heck, so do I] :D

Seven, on the other hand, seeks ‘sternum to sternum’ contact when she’s lying beside me.

I have no idea why but it seems to be her “happy place”.

If she cannot achieve that position because of how I’m sitting, she’ll hop up beside me, turn around with her back to me, sit down and *flop* herself backwards so that she’s laying upside down, all paws in the air.
And then she goes to sleep.

She also tolerates any handling I subject her to because she has been conditioned to do so for the reasons stated above.

God forbid there be an emergency and I can’t fully check them for injuries.

My dogs all happily let me touch their food while eating and if I capriciously just take it away, no one complains.
They’ll just sit down and wait for me to give it back because it’s what they expect to happen.

It is what they were taught to cheerfully accept as very young pups.

If I had a dog I had to “leave alone while eating”, I’d die of shame.

Most dogs seem to tolerate hugs in the same way a teenager does from Mom or Dad.

My kids love it when my wife and I hug them. I guess we did a better job at that too. They both always loved the hugs.

Note, my son works at the same company as I do as a foundation designer and at 26 and we hug. My daughter is about to graduate from NYPoly in a few weeks as an Engineer and she teared up when we hugged after I showed up in NY unexpected two years ago.

I guess it ain't them. Maybe it is you. My kids expect NOTHING from me but still hug me.

I pity you people who don't have a kid or dog that loves hugs from YOU.

What’s with your lack of reading comprehension? 26 isn’t teenage.

I did, but I was pretty drunk at the time. She took the keys and left me at the bar.

That is a big dog!

Love you wee sis and I would give you both a hug right now if I could.

Note, I am not scared of either of you but if I had to pick one I am less scared of the Dire Dobe.

From birth to 26 dumbass. Do I need to use smaller words on all of my posts just in case you read them or can I use words the other 99.9% understand?

I need to start a reading comprehension course and I’ll put a picture of you on the sign.

Love you too, Eaker ~and~ The Mom...:)

That has to be the handiest, most versatile picture ever.

Can’t thank you enough.

I’d even let you hug me.

:)

[and you’re right..the dog is much saner than I am]

LOL

Life hasn’t rewarded you like me.

Tough shit.

Life is wonderful here - I couldn’t ask for more.

It’s so much fun infuriating bully wannabes like you that think you are a member of some protected class here.

You are SO predictable! Made my day - thanks! Ah, uh, sorry you’re so bitter, unhappy and uptight. Not really! :-)

I do behavioral training/rehab work for shelter dog charities and am often asked to do more.

I have titled to a CDX in AKC and done agility, nosework, rally obedience and other kinds of training.

Sorry this is so difficult for you but it is the viewpoint of all behavioral experts with any semblance of education.

Sorry you aren't interested in promoting what helps dogs not land in shelters and kill tables in vet offices. But I am and do promote the facts.

You have only to google the books and people I have mentioned to see that I am correct.

Also, they usually aren’t in the habit of squeezing trees, right?
