Republican Primary Voters Seem Determined to Nominate Candidates Who can Win
RightWing News ^ | May 10, 2014 | Michael Barone

Results of Tuesday’s primaries, particularly the victory of state House Speaker Thom Tillis in North Carolina’s Republican Senate primary, are being hailed — or decried — as a victory for the Republican establishment over the Tea Party movement. There’s something to that. Tillis benefited from support from Karl Rove’s American Crossroads and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and endorsements by Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush.

In contrast, Sen. Rand Paul flew in on the day before the election to campaign for second-place finisher and fellow physician Greg Bannon, who was also endorsed by Tea Party Patriots and FreedomWorks. Mike Huckabee campaigned for the third-place candidate, minister Mark Harris.

I am tired about everyone bashing Romney. he was a good, fine man. Probably the best character of any politician. He would have been a great president but you morons out there have to play into the liberals hands. I cry when. I think of what we’ve done to ourselves. We would not have Obamacare if he had won. We wouldn’t be looking at amnesty, we wouldn’t be having the trouble in the Ukraine. Ai hope you are all very very happy with yourselves.

because as a landlord (or lessor), Obama has a whole lot more than two evils in his property portfolio!!!! ;^)

Actually his father owns it all, he tried to give it to my Father but he turned down the offer.

“In Michael Barone’s thinking, are “candidates who can win” a euphemism for RINOs?”

Of course, because Barone has always been one.

Barone was a little rich kid whose parents sent him to Cranbrook School. You can’t get much more establishment than that.

Speaking of morons....I thought morons of your ilk had all gone over to Wideawakes when you found that FR wasn’t RINO enough for you. How did that work out for you?

Yeah, the guy who stated crystal-clear that he believes that if a minor girl gets pregnant and her parents won't give their consent for an abortion, that the girl has the "right" to go to a judge and have the judge overturn her parents so she can have an abortion.

Yeah, the guy who has steadfastly supported government efforts to punish anyone, from adoption agencies to employers, for refusing to play along with the pretend "marriage" of homosexuals. The guy who promoted the "outreach" of homosexuality via "Gay Youth Pride" to sixth graders.

That's a real "good, fine man" with great "character" -- but only in HELL, Hildy. Not in my America.

It was George H. W. Bush (the elder Bush) who said “Read my lips.....” Not G. W. (the younger).

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

How is it working out for you Pelham now that you’re finding out that FR is changing. Some of us on here are Conservative AND savvy enough to realize that NO ONE IS PERFECT. And, all you “purists” who have your agenda could not win an election for Meter Reader? Guess into what column that leaves all your candidates? In the “Lost” column. But then, where else would you expect to find a “loser”.

Romney as a fine man when he wasnt lying about his flip flopping positions or covertly sending his troops out to attack Sara Palin. He was/is no conservative . He is a big government progressive republican. Nothing personal. He would have played the mend it dont end it on Obamacare because he believes in socialized medicine.

Although he said he would defund Obamacare on day one. YOU KNOW he was not going to. Sometimes I really wonder about the intelligence of Conservatives like you. He was GOVERNOR OF A DEMOCRAT STATE. He does not believe in socialized medicine. But hey, Obama was better, wasn’t he. Tell me ONE thing that we are better off for today because (god forbid) Romney lost. ONE FREAKING THING.

Din Maker scolds Pelham, who took issue with Hildy that 100 percent functional leftist Romney "would have made a great [Republican] president": Some of us on here are Conservative AND savvy enough to realize that NO ONE IS PERFECT. And, all you “purists” who have your agenda could not win an election for Meter Reader?

Ah. I see, Din Maker. The "savvy" ones would be you, and the really really stupid ones would be me and Pelham and the balance of millions of righteous God-fearing, God-loving Americans who REFUSED TO VOTE FOR LEFTISM and hence caused Romney to LOSE, thank God. Your candidate LOST because he stunk. Be accountable, for crying out loud, and stop blaming other people for the consequences of your OWN bad judgment.

Had the bastard won, Din Maker and Hildy, leftism would have GAINED STRENGTH on both sides of the aisle. Had the bastard won, he would RIGHT NOW be using the Republican administration to advance EVERY leftist cause, from government-mandated global warming greeniness to RomneyCare to forcing the acceptance of pretend homosexual "marriage" among adoption agencies and churches and employers or else -- not to mention appointing liberal activist judges and enabling abortion --

-- if that bastard had won, THAT is what he would be doing RIGHT NOW. You would be here wailing and crying and screaming, saying "I didn't vote for that, I voted against Obama!" You would FAIL to be accountable for what you voted FOR.

That's the key difference between you and me, and Pelham and Hildy. Pelham and I COMPREHEND that we are accountable for what we vote for. You and Hildy believe the unicorn fantasy that you can vote "against" and not have it backfire with a vengeance.

EVERYBODY ON FREE REPUBLIC, every single one, realizes that NO POLITICIAN is perfect. "Purists" are purely fictional; in my 12 years on FR, I have never seen a purist, not once. I have, however, seen MANY people who call those who reject their candidates, "purists." To level the accusation of "purist" at ANYONE in a political discussion, is purely, solely an intentional insult, nothing less, nothing more.

Happily, you are waiting precisely because Romney LOST, whereas if he had won, you would be here wailing that you didn't vote for RomneyCare and Gay Marriage and tax-funded abortion and the Green agenda and activist liberal judges, you voted against Obama! You would refuse to be accountable for what you voted for.

You are better off because you're not here wailing that you didn't vote for that. We are better off because had Romney won, limited government conservatives in the Republican party would be totally neutered as the defacto head of their own party used a Republican presidential administration to advance the Democrat agenda of state-run health care, forcing people to accommodate pretend homosexual marriage on all fronts, nation-wide "right" to tax-funded abortion, the environmentalist "green" agenda to stifle energy and food production and consumption, not to mention raising the minimum wage. At least conservative Republicans can fight a Democrat administration, and at least Republican liberals are weaker because the president is a Democrat.

Conservatism would have been considerably weakened on all fronts had Romney won. We're better off today for it. You just don't want to admit it.

You know what happens when you assume..and every single thing you are saying is an assumption, that’s all. So you are either the most brilliant man in the world or the dumbest. I vote for the latter.

First of all Finny for a “righteous”, God fearing, God loving man you use profanity quite handily. Does your Pastor know that you go around calling people a bastard? And for your information, I do fear God and I do love God. So, don’t judge me. You don’t even know me.

Secondly: I never blamed Romney’s loss on Conservatives not voting for him. He lost because Ultra Conservatives, Social Conservatives, Fiscal Conservatives, Liberal Republicans and RINOs all put together, are outnumbered by baby killers, Welfare Queens, homosexuals, proponents of same-sex marriage, Blacks and Illegals. We are the minority!!! Don’t flatter yourself to think that you and yours are that big of a voting bloc to contend with. You are the minority of the minorities. And....

Thirdly: Don’t sit there and tell me what I would do or say had Romney been elected. Once again; you don’t know me. You don’t know anything about me. So, don’t tell me what I’d say or what I’d do. Actually if the truth was known, you probably voted for Obama just for spite. You were probably one who voted for Ross “Big Ears” Perot. You did didn’t you? Yeah; uh huh I knew you did. You voted for Perot. Well, congratulations; you gave us the Clintons for life. Hope you’re proud of that. And....

Finally: If you wouldn’t talk so much, people wouldn’t know just how ignorant you really are. (I can hear your “righteous” mouth calling me a bastard.)

JUST A REMINDER: To: All you folks on here who voted for Ross Perot to punish George H. W. Bush for breaking his "Read my lips...." pledge. I just want to remind you of this one thing: It was you folks who GAVE US THE CLINTONS FOR LIFE! I hope you're proud of that accomplishment. Truth be known, some of you voted for Bill Clinton to punish George H. W.
