EDITORIAL: Obamacare’s October surprises
Washington Times ^ | June 8, 2014 | Washington Times Editorial

In Vermont, the rate increases announced Monday range from 9.8 percent to 18.3 percent. Kentuckians will pay up to 17 percent more in 2015, and in Virginia rates will rise as much as 22 percent. These increases are the direct result of the Obamacare scheme to make health care “more affordable,” and the increases could have a considerable impact on the November congressional elections.

The state-by-state drip, drip, drip of bad news for Democratic candidates can be good news for the rest of us if it encourages voters to shake up Washington. The shake-up starts with getting the government out of health care.

And this is just the beginning -- everyone will be paying more and getting a lot less...

The Vets Administration scandal is just a preview of Obamacare -- that needs to be pointed out, before it's too lat -- it almost is already...

Even though Obama was the Chief instigator of our nations economic ruin,He had a lot of assistants by a do nothing congress;Especially the Republicans who agreed with what he wanted to do because of cowardice or political expediency.

As a result we’re all going to pay for the damage done in the future.

Quite right.

Even if repealed, which won't happen because the pubbies won't give up the club given to them by the rats, there are two fundamental outrages that will remain.

1. Congress can force us to purchase a service against our will.

2. Scotus and El Presidente can rewrite laws.

Asking the distracted and apathetic people of America to wake up is probably asking too much, a bridge too far. Everyone is too immersed in their own little amusements to care about the future.

The socialists and statists who run the country have successfully dumbed down the population to an extent that they are largely docile and easily manipulated. Their plan is working.

And Congress doesn’t have to buy into what they force us to buy. Nice gig, huh?

Totally agree. The spineless Republicans never stood up to him even when they had some good opportunities to do so. Epic fail on their part, but as you say, its all about political expediency. The stark truth is that most Republicans could care less about conservatism.

The shake-up starts with getting the government out of health care.

Sure it does.

Except the Left works on a 50-100 year campaign cycle, and the Right can't see beyond the next election.

Obamacare, or something like it, became inevitable in 1965. The Democrats and Republicans who passed Medicare and Medicaid KNEW it would lead to single-payer nationalized medical and nursing services, which was and is their goal.

They didn't know when, and they didn't know how, but they didn't NEED to know that.

All they needed to know was that they had dosed America with a slow-acting poison which would eventually prove fatal, and they were right.

The government will own health care outright within a few years. And they have to, because we can't borrow, tax, or print enough money to keep existing programs solvent.

If you want government out of health care, the first step is repealing Title XVIII of the Social Security Act.

Good luck.

***********
I realize you said that in jest, and sarcastically, but that is essentially how they look at it. The perks, status, income, prominence, and little empires they have do constitute a nice gig. And once there, they never want to give it up. In Washington this is known as Potomac Fever.

The stark truth is that most Republicans could care less about conservatism.

The only thing most Republicans in power care about is staying in power, keeping up a good façade for the rubes back home, and making sure nobody rocks the boat.

The Senate is controlled by the Dems, in case you didn’t notice.

Also NO Republican voted for Obamacare.

It amazes me that so many here, who should know better, blame the Republicans more than Obama — despite the FACTS I cited above.

Your tagline: “ (I’m a Christian, pro-life, pro-gun, Reaganite. The GOP hates me. Why should I vote for them?)

The reason to vote for the GOP is because the alternative is Obama and the Dems running — I should say RUINING — the country. Exactly people like you GAVE the Dems the Senate and elected Obama, by voting for unelectable candidtes and staying home. Obama and the Dems RULING the country are a direct result of YOUR actions. It’t time you face that and come down to reality.

Really, Innovative? And exactly how did I do that? Do tell...I'm anxious to hear you tell me.

Hey, everyone! Innovative’s about to tell us how I voted! Gather round! He was behind me at the polling booth! Isn’t that amazing?

Bovine feces. You’re trying to blame someone here for 0bama. That’s crap.

There is an argument to be made that voting R is always better than voting D or not voting. But it is not a clear line. No sir it is not. And it is dynamic and individual-voter specific.

I think you argue to vote R no matter what.
COBOL2Java I think argues that sometimes not voting is better.

My position is that it can be either - depending on the situation at hand.

For example this midterm, I would be more apt to vote R senate b/c getting 51 is large. But this midterm in the HOR, I would be more apt to oust the liberal R to demonstrate that liberal Rs suck camel ass. R will hold the HOR so this gives us a chance to remove some sucky reps.

But I think it’s just plain dumb to blame 0bama on conservatives when conservatives didn’t even have a candidate running. How about blaming RINOs who voted such bs in the primary? How about blamimg voters who did not take care to vote in primarys? How about blaming RNC for its primary rules?

Lazy to blame a conservative. Conservatives aren’t the problem.

I have no illusions that, should the Republicans control both houses of congress and the presidency, there will be a repeal. They might try to “fix” it, but Obamacare will stay in some form or another. Republicans have no interest in putting things back the way they were. The power over life and death doesn't just appeal to Democrats

Said what? That Innovative's Party can't field good candidates? That he then goes and blames others for his Party's screw-ups? What? Seems to me all Innovative did was shoot off his mouth and assume he knew how I voted. That to me reveals an amazing lack of critical thinking.
