Senator Pat Roberts Makes Major Freudian Slip in Interview (Video)
breitbart.com ^ | 7/3/14 | Debra Heine

Posted on 07/03/2014 6:01:18 PM PDT by cotton1706

Appearing on a Kansas City local radio talk show on KCMO Thursday morning, Senator Pat Roberts made a verbal gaffe that plays right into his primary opponent's main talking point against him.

Reports show that Roberts spends very little time his home state of Kansas - less than 100 days using official funds over the course of two years, an issue his opponent, radiologist, Dr. Milton Wolfe has capitalized on.

"After 47 years in Washington, it's clear that Kansas is a distant memory for Pat Roberts," Wolf said back in May. "How else do you explain Roberts wanting to spend his time anywhere but Kansas? Maybe if he still lived here he'd actually want to return here. "

When KCMO talk show Greg Knapp asked Roberts about the residency issue, Roberts answered that his performance shouldn’t be measured on where he lives.

“I don’t measure my competency or my record or the results – and I do get results – on where I put my head on a pillow,” he said.

But pressed about listener concerns that Roberts does not actually live in the state, the Senator faltered badly. “Every time I get an opponent, uh, I mean every time I get a chance I’m home,” Roberts said.

In another misstep, today, the Roberts’ camp retweeted a race baiter who slimed Milton Wolfe by saying Roberts should not have to debate “a racist and a fool”. The campaign deleted the retweet after one minute, but the damage was already done - Twitchy has the screenshot.

What the law allows

And what Conservatives should do

Are two VERY different things.

You are a loose cannon, taking shots at our friends, to the point that NOBODY who is on the fence about an issue would ever listen to you. Why do so? You will stab the good candidate in the back.

You lack loyalty.

You lack political wisdom.

I doubt that Milton Wolf gets 30%. My point in sounding off against Wolf is to scold, and to teach the IDIOTS who have wasted millions of dollars on awful candidates why they do not win.

You are also forcing Roberts to waste HIS money, money which he could have used to support other conservative candidates, as he has done frequently.

His life time rating from the American Conservative union is 86%. His Heritage Action score from the '11 to '12 was 65% but his life time score is 79% demonstrating that it was an aberration.

He was with Cruz when Cochran and McConnel stabbed him in the back to re-open the government, and he didn't have to be to keep his rating high.

Even in the articles you reference they come out and admit that he's done some good things they just think it's "time for a change". I don't know how to break it to you but the advent of Obama should have demonstrated that change isn't always for the best.

Roberts is a reliable conservative that has had a few questionable votes. Wolf is an unknown with no history whatsoever and a lot of personal baggage that is going to cause a lot of problems in a general election. Why go after Roberts to replace him with an unknown quantity? Is there some problem with having Wolf start with a state office before a national office so we have some idea that what he says he believes in is actually what he believes in?

Agree with you. These whiners wish they had a Senator as conservative as Roberts, yet they jump on the bandwagon of some no name who purports to be Tea Party. Wolf has no record on any level. Beware of sheeple in wolve’s clothing.

“You are also forcing Roberts to waste HIS money, money which he could have used to support other conservative candidates, as he has done frequently.”

Just love all of your invective. I can’t have a reasoned dialogue with you because you resort to name calling. If anyone in this discussion lacks wisdom, go take a look in the mirror. I don’t live in Kansas so I don’t have a dog in this fight. And I am not forcing Roberts to do anything since I haven’t, nor will I give either of them any money.
I am not necessarily a Wolf supporter, but I sure as hell think that Kansas could do a whole lot better than Pat Roberts. Sorry, but that’s how I see it.
I think, like Cochran, Roberts is a has been who should, of his own accord leave the office to some other qualified, and much younger conservative. But I am betting Roberts will be carried out of his seat in the Senate to his grave. And it’s my opinion (which you don’t share and I understand that) that having a lifetime Senate seat isn’t healthy for our government. We can, and need to do better at turning over our elected officials, because it’s a healthy way to get new blood and fresh ideas. Just look at the Senate, it’s pretty much a useless body, particularly with Reid at the helm. It’s the Senate that stands in the way of kicking Obama out of office.
I’m Done!

Funny how all of the Anti-Robert’s folks are not in Kansas. I am active in KS GOP activities and have never seen Wolfe attending anything until he started running for Senate.

Wolfe perhaps needs to build bridges vs burning them down before crossing them. It is evident he is in the game for himself and not Kansan’s.

His biggerst claim to fame is his famous cousin. President Obama. Now would you trust anybody related to Obama?

Senator Robert’s is the best person to represent this Kansan.

Let’s also set the record Straight Cotton. Your not a Kansan but Sh-t disturber. You have posted the Anti-Roberts message thread many times in the last year from your Liberal state of Massachusetts. Why don’t you work on getting some conservatives elected there?

Roberts has been a Senator for 17 years and before that a Congressman for 16 years. that add’s up to being an elected offical in Washington for 33 years. So Mr. Wolfe is also playing with numbers and lying to the public. Yes he did work for a Kansas Congressman prior to his election but not all of that was in DC.

Oh, how many times have I heard that argument on here. I made absolutely no claim to being a Kansan. And yes I have been posting Anti-Roberts stories, along with EVERY OTHER INCUMBENT who has been challenged this year. The point of that is to change the make-up of the US Senate, to get rid of the go-along cronies. It’s an insult to the people of Kansas that their representative in the US Senate “rents a Lazy Boy” armchair so he’s constitutionally eligible to represent them. But you’ll just keep on re-electing him.

As to being from Massachusetts, yes I am. And I know very well what it’s like to have senators that NEVER, EVER leave office. Ted Kennedy was senator for 47 years, taking the seat from his brother who held the seat for 8 years before him. And Kerry was senator for close to 30. I worked to help elect Scott Brown, only to be betrayed, so I left my ballot blank to get him thrown out of office (I don’t play the “he’s an incumbent republican so I guess I’ll vote for him” game). I worked to help get a conservative nominated last year, but Scott Brown’s crony pulled the strings to get the most moderate person nominated...who then went on to lose of course.

We’re doing what we can in MA. What are YOU doing to rid yourself of the go-along cronyism in Kansas?? Will you withhold your vote from him? He doesn’t even live there, voted to confirm Kathleen Sebelius (I guess because she’s a fellow Kansan) and just gave Thad Cochran $5,000, and will vote for McConnell for leader.

As I said your the piece of Crap alleged republican that destroy the GOP.

YOUR GAMES “ I left my ballot blank to get him thrown out of office (I don’t play the “he’s an incumbent republican so I guess I’ll vote for him” game). Get the democrats elected like Warren. Milton Wolfe has not paid his dues in KS. He doesn’t even attend very many events like the county he lives in Monthly meeting.

So stick to being a Massachusetts liberal and stay out of Kansas politics.

>> Roberts is a DO NOTHING Pubbie...just like Coburn and Inhofe!!!

They DO NOT FIGHT BACK!! Oh yeah they say a couple things now and again...But there's NO FIGHT!!!! <<

Name one time Milton Wolf decided to "DO SOMETHING" and "FIGHT" for conservatives before announcing his Senate candidacy and claiming to be the "true conservative" in the race.

His entire campaign is built around just "saying a couple things". Never once in his life has this guy ever "fought" for conservatives.

>> Kansas should probably elect someone from their state <<

What's interesting is most of the Milton Wolf cheerleaders were also Liz Cheney cheerleaders. They had no problem with electing someone "who hasn't lived in the state in decades" a few months ago.

“So stick to being a Massachusetts liberal and stay out of Kansas politics.”

Right, of course. Because I want long term politicians removed from power, I’m a Massachusetts liberal. As if there are no conservatives in Massachusetts. I don’t vote for liberals. I don’t vote for democrats. And I don’t for liberal republicans just because the democrat is worse. I’m not a tool of the republican party that blindly votes for ‘r’s because I recognize that’s how we end up with people like Ted Stevens (senator since 1967) who was so selfish, power hungry and vindictive, he wouldn’t retire, and was defeated; Frank Murkowski (who appointed his daughter when he was elected governor); Jim Jeffords, who became an independent to remove the senate majority from republicans; John Warner, who refused to endorse Oliver North in 1994 and has endorsed the incumbent DEMOCRAT this year; Richard Lugar, who has endorsed the DEMOCRAT in Georgia this year; Arlen Specter, who became a democrat when he knew he couldn’t again win the republican nomination; John McCain (I don’t even need to list all of his treacheries); Mitch McConnell, we’ve witnessed his vitriol against conservatives this year; and most recently, Thad Cochran.

Here is Scott Brown’s voting record. If I wouldn’t vote for such a record if he was a democrat why would I vote for him just because he calls himself a republican?? Just to artificially increase Mitch McConnell’s caucus number?? He’ll be the next Jim Jeffords.

Brown - 2010 - 64% (Average) - 62% (CFG) - 74% (ACU) - 57% (FreedomWorks)

Brown - 2011 - 48% (Average) - 49% (CFG) - 50% (ACU) - 44% (FreedomWorks)

Brown - 2012 - 34% (Average) - 51% (CFG) - 36% (ACU) - 15% (FreedomWorks)

But yeah I’m a Massachusetts liberal. Click on the Elections tab and view the hundreds of stories I’ve posted in the past two years chronicling and making people aware of the treasonous acts of those in power, and yes, making people aware of those that have some opposition.

I’d like to get people used to the idea of voting against their incumbent senators. Lindsey Graham thought he should get 80% of the vote, like Tim Scott. He got 56%. McConnell and Cornyn got barely 60% after spending millions. Cochran had to cheat to get barely 50%.

Every senator in every election should be challenged. Rotation in office is one of the keys to liberty. See my book at the website in my tagline. If you’re interested, message me your address and I’ll send you a copy.

Pat Roberts gets a 93% from Heritage - http://www.heritageactionscorecard.com/members/member/R000307

Absolutely useless rating. The Lords and Ladies inside the Beltway game their votes to give the veneer of conservatism, so flyover country can pull up these "93%" ratings and say "See? See? He's a conservative!"

Those ratings are about as useful as tits on a snake.

Scorecards are useless. They game the votes, culling the non-essential ones that don’t mean anything, where they can vote “Yea”, then stab you in the back on the ones that count.

The problem here is your no. #1 issue ISN'T getting the best CONSERVATIVE elected, its opposing any and all incumbents, regardless of whether their opponent would be WORSE in that seat.

You are blinded by "every incumbent MUST go" mentality to the point where it doesn't matter if the challenger will move to the Senate seat to the left, you're willing to do so just to "send a message" to the Republican leadership. Replace a staunch opponent of gay marriage and illegal aliens with some pampered politician's kid whose family has been a cheerleader for the left on both issues? That was fine and dandy with you.

If your "principles" are against any and all incumbents, that's your business, but FR is a site dedicating to support the best CONSERVATIVE candidate, rather than your goal of supporting the CHALLENGER candidate in any and all circumstances.

Liz Cheney didn't get my support over Mike Enzi merely because she's not the incumbent Senator. She had to demonstrate she'd be more conservative than him, and the facts showed otherwise. Ditto with "Obama's conservative cousin" taking on the already solidly conservative Ted Cruz ally Pat Roberts. The same would be true if George P. Bush decided to challenge Ted Cruz in the primary or Walter Jones decided to oppose Richard Burr. They can claim to be "Tea Party" and say they oppose the "establishment" all they want. That won't change the fact that they're as establishment as it gets and electing them would move to the US Senate to the LEFT.

Scott Brown was no Ted Cruz for sure, but MA is not Texas and Liz Warren is an out and out Marxist,

If you (or anyone else) think(s) that Brown is the same as Warren then you obviously haven't listened to Warren.

“Roberts is the poster boy for why the Seventeenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was such a terrible idea.”

Wow, thanks for your comment! I was beginning to worry that “Kansas58” and “Durus” were in the majority here on FR. I am simply amazed that they hold the views that they do, and with that in mind, are able to vote.
To me, the are representative of what’s wrong here in America today. They actually belief that they owe some sort of “debt of gratitude” to Pat Roberts simply by reason that the old coot has been in office for 47 years. Never mind that whatever contribution he may have made in his early years, is now some miniscule dot on the butt of history. And it does not bother them that he doesn’t even meet the minimum requirements for residency and bunks with some friend rather than own any real property in the state he supposedly represents. As for Kansas58 in particular, he/she claims to be a former treasurer of the GOP in Kansas, so there’s the link to the GOPe. I saw the same $hit here in California when I was on the Central Committee. Just a bunch of mostly old farts (one guy was a retired army colonel who now reminds me of Gen. Martin Dempsey) all of whom had a vested interest in the preservation of the status quo and absolutely nothing else saving putting on a successful GOP Barbeque every year where the “inbred party leaders” got a chance to make some money off of the dumb schmucks who bought the tickets to get the chance to scmooze with them.

Some expect Brown to vote a little better with a less horrible constituency in NH.

As for this race, I support Cotton’s right to promote any stupid *ss candidate he wants, no matter what state he’s from, but you are wrong about this race Cotton, Roberts is a solid conservative who doesn’t need to be replaced PERIOD. Let alone with a CYPHER like Wolfe with no platform other than his own naked desire for power. Sorry, I don’t care what Lord Levin says, I can think for myself.

Kansas freepers seem near unanimous in agreeing with that assessment, I don’t blame them for being frustrated with outsiders who are obviously ignorant of Senator Roberts conservative record, posting GARBAGE attacks over and over again. There is an actual sub-par Senator in Tennessee who you could try to beat instead of the conservative Roberts.

Wolf will likely face professional or legal sanctions for his violation of patient privacy rights.

Wolf posted patient X-Rays on his Face Book page.

Of course, The Democrats WANT Wolf to win the primary, so that the Obama controlled Justice Department can file their HIPAA and other legal actions against Wolf in October.

Wolf is a moron.
