Ann Coulter calls on Chris McDaniel to give up
Politico ^ | 7/10/14 | Jonathan Topaz

Ann Coulter is urging tea party challenger Chris McDaniel to concede in the Mississippi Senate Republican primary.

In an op-ed in the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, the conservative commentator said McDaniel supporters who are fighting to contest the June 24 runoff election results against Sen. Thad Cochran are hurting the GOP — and McDaniel’s own political future.

If you run around yelling fraud!, and then have to concede because you couldn’t document the fraud, what have you accomplished? How have you helped?

If evidence of fraud exists and has been presented - and it has - and you do nothing, then evil advances.

"Part of Coulter’s reasoning is that she says that not only would McDaniel have to invalidate the number of votes in the winning margin but that he would also have to prove that these votes were Cochran votes. I do not believe this is correct."

You are correct, and this is the point the McDaniel campaign makes.

The legal threshold that needs to be reached/crossed is whether there is sufficient evidence that potentially more invalid votes were cast in favor of the winner than the margin of the winner's vote. If that is the case than the validity of the election is called into question and the remedy would be a redo of the runoff election.

Now, that's how legally it SHOULD be handled. I mean there's a reason that Mississippi Election Law says you can't vote in one party's primary and then vote in the other party's runoff election. There is supposed to be a consequence to that - your vote would be thrown out/invalidated/etc... and thus if there is evidence that there are more votes cast by Democrats in the GOP runoff than the margin by which Cochran won the runoff, then there SHOULD (if there is justice in this world) be a new runoff.

I’ve seen that several times.

The elections people explained it. It was reported many times.

“This is nothing more than an instance where a poll worker started marking an individual’s vote in the June 3rd column, rather than in the June 24th column. At some point the worker realized his or her mistake and corrected it – crossing out the ‘voted’ notation in the June 3rd column and moving it to its proper place. That is the correct procedure for the managers – but the McDaniel campaign is claiming that this is an example of illegal votes.”

Do you seriously believe that explanation? I hope not.

It is pretty clear that the writing was performed by different people and the one column is not crossed out, nor dated, nor initialed.

The explanation you posted, that I assume was from some source, defies logic and reason.

"Why is this woman still even relevant?"

In my opinion it is precisely because the media can use her to say "Conservatives Call on McDaniel To Give Up Fight Against Fraudulent Election"

Hence the Politico stories and other media reports today citing Ann Coulter's attack on McDaniel.

Had she attacked Obama/Biden/Hillary/Other Liberals today there wouldn't be ANY press stories about her.

So Ann is going to go where she sees opportunity. She tried to hitch a ride on Chris Christie's train. That didn't work. She became the biggest Romney-advocate/groupie one could imagine.

And this election cycle how she has made headlines is by being the attack dog for the establishment (of both parties) against the Tea Party movement. She has criticized tea party groups for supporting conservative challengers that are running against entrenched moderate/failed Republican incumbents, yet has been noticeably silent about the establishment bankrolling millions of dollars to attack tea party candidates - including incumbents who are being challenged by liberal/pro-amnesty/pro-crony-capitalism challengers.

So for now, in my opinion, "we" conservatives are a useful punching bag for Ann to make a name for herself, and she will continue to find opportunities where she can say she is being the 'better Republican' by supporting the establishment's argument/candidate/issue over the conservative one. And the media will happily promote her views each and every time they run counter to conservatism.

Not only that, somewhere posted here on FR in an article, is a democrat elections official came out, with email proof, that many were told illegally not to switch the voter books. Switching the books allowed election officials to double check who voted in the opposite primaries. If this is true, and they claim to have it backed up in email, it makes the mistake excuse, weak sauce.

For those who want to see some of the more explosive and more serious allegations of wrongdoing, check out independent journalist, Charles Johnson's website which details stunning allegations: www.GotNews.com

Charles Johnson was the one who broke the scoops during the runoff - catching Cochran's campaign putting out robocalls and fliers calling the tea party movement and Chris McDaniel racist, saying that he would deny black people the right to vote, and that he and the tea party would block/oppose Obama's agenda so black voters must vote for Thad Cochran to help Barack Obama's agenda.

After Charles Johnson and others started revealing the election irregularities and allegations that Cochran's campaign paid black activists 'walking around money' to give to black voters to vote for Cochran, Cochran's campaign manager was forced to resign yesterday. Lots of things going on in this race still...

Ann is wrong so many ways in her op ed. First, Al Gore paid no political price for his challenge. He is a hero to the Dims and if he chose to run for anything, he would be welcomed initially (problem for him now is that other than environmental issues, his past positions are too conservative for today's Dims). What political price has Al Freon paid. How about the Dims in Washington State for Senator and Governor.
Nixon was a different era. McDaniel should fight on
What good does it do to have a Republican Senate majority if the republican senators vote the same as Dims

I am reminded of the fact, by other FReepers, that Coulter is showing no more - and no less - loyalty to Chris McDaniel than she did to Ann Coulter who she has repeatedly smeared and attacked:

Attacks Palin for Not Learning 'Proper English'

Coulter Attacks Palin as Being "The Obama of The Party"

F the GOP!

If Thad wins this fight I’m tempted to bus people from TN to illegally vote for the Dem in November. I’m make sure they are all black and Hispanic so if anyone tries to arrest me my lawyer and scream “RACIST”!

lol

I am personally sick and tired of us getting out maneuvered and out played by the liberals. The ends support the means. I say we play hard ball to take over the Senate then you get rid of the Thad Cochrans. His days are numbered obviously. I agree with Ann, that we bite your tongue... and lose graciously. Support the winner...then come out to fight another day.

The guy lost. All this belly aching and posturing will not get McDaniel elected or force another run off. The eGop are showing their true colors. We all know that...but it’s time to move on.

She’s an icon! My greatest FR moment was naming her “Belly Girl”.

Not on par with Buckhead outing Dan Rather though.

If I thought he had a chance to force a run off I’d say fight on, but he doesn’t have a snow balls chance in hell.

The eGop showed themselves once again as to who they really are. Yes, there need to be a catharsis in the party...

Look at this Kay Hagan race. We lose that one, and it will be a tragedy.

She gives a convincing argument.

Yes she does.

As she does 95% of the time. (her unfathomable liking of Christie notwithstanding)
