An urgent expedition will leaves tomorrow to probe a giant crater that has appeared in gas-rich northern Siberia.
Extraordinary aerial images show a mysterious hole which experts say may be up to 262 feet wide, in the Yamal Peninsula of northern Russia.
'A scientific team has been sent to investigate the hole and is due to arrive at the scene on Wednesday,' The Siberian Times has reported.

It looks like a maar. They are rather common in some areas in Siberia and Alaska.

A sink hole wouldn’t account for the raised rim.....................

Possibly but a sink hole could have been caused by a sudden drop in the local water table. Such a hole could over a long time affect the winds causing dust and till to build up.
I have no idea what cased this really but an alien landing site is pretty far down list of the probable.

A huge meteorite slams into siberia and they didn’t feel anything remotely and just find a huge crater. Just wow.

No mystery at all - it’s the hole made by the falling congressional honesty.
Thank goodness we were able to dump it on Siberia; something like that could leave American suburbia in a world of hurt.
